Cleans well, tough in tight corners and leaks

    Posted .

Overall, we like the this powered mop. It cleans much better than our non-powered spray mop, but it has a few problems that keep it from completely replacing it. First the good stuff: When it is plugged in and powered on the mop is very easy to move across the floor, it almost feels like it is hovering thanks to the spinning motion of the pads. Most importantly, it cleans very well. We have only used the included multi-surface cleaner so far and have not tried the hardwood floor cleaner that you can purchase separately yet. We have solid maple hardwood floors with a medium color stain and have had some problems getting them completely streak free with our standard spray mop and microfiber pad. With the Bissell Spin Wave, not a single streak left behind. Previously, we could only get the floors this clean if we were on our hands and knees, so the mop will definitely save use considerable cleaning effort in the future. The mop also has a small footprint and stored easily in our broom closet where we also keep our central vacuum cleaner hose and accessories. Now for the things we didn't like so much. Because the pads are round, you cannot get right into the corners of your floor. Also, the size of the head makes it difficult to get in the tight places in our home where our spray mop can easily reach. The spray mop is also cordless which makes it easier to maneuver as well. The other big issue we are having is that our mop leaks! The leak isn't huge, just a few drips here and there. We found videos on-line suggesting that the cleaning solution bottle cap may not be tightened enough or may be damaged, but after checking all this and making sure we heard a good click when we place the bottle in the mop, it still leaks. So for now, we just keep the bottle out of the mop when we store it and we have an old towel under the mop as well so it doesn't drip all over broom closet floor. So I think our non-powered spray mop will still be our go to for our weekly floor washing, but the Bissell Spinwave will come in handy for those times we really need to get the floor looking it's best, and will save us from having to be on our hands and knees to do so.

    Makes floor cleaning almost fun!

    Posted .

Well – I just received my Bissell SpinWave Hard Floor Cleaner and I had purposely been leaving my floor alone so I could try it out and write a review! I’m happy to report that it went together with a single click of the handle and I cleaned the whole hardwood floor (kitchen, formal dining room, front vestibule, bathroom, hallway and informal dining room) in no time! The cleaner comes with 4 pads (one soft set and one scrubby pad for messes), 2 small bottles of multi-surface cleaner, and the instruction booklet. I’ll admit that I was a bit confused that you didn’t have to take the pads off during the cleaning cycle and rinse them out like rinsing/wringing a mop. I suppose you could if you were tackling some bigger messes, but my job was more of a polish than a clean. I left them on for the whole job and they worked good. I normally use Bona products on my wood floors so I was somewhat skeptical on how they would turn out. Would they be streaky? I had just vacuumed the carpets and floors on the main level, so I was ready to go. (I would definitely recommend sweeping or vacuuming your floors first so no bits of sand or dirt get caught in the cleaning pads and possibly scratch the floor). I mixed up a small amount of the multi-surface solution in the clean water container and started cleaning. During the process, I could see wet rings from where I had cleaned, so I went over them again and tried to smooth them out as I figured they would dry like that - but I never got them to go away completely. You can kind of see them in the picture attached. As the floor dried though – they disappeared! Awesome! No streaks! Speaking of drying – the floor did dry quite fast – so I didn’t have to keep the kids and animals off it for more than 10 minutes! Operation for me was a breeze – as I have strong arms (yes I’m a guy). The cleaner easily fits under the kitchen cabinet toe-kick, easily glides under furniture, but be careful around carpets as it’s a little tricky to run along the edge of the carpet transition. As for cons – well I don’t have that many! Perhaps they could include a couple of bottles of the Hardwood Floor cleaner like they did the Multi-Surface Solution. I did notice that there are 2 fill lines on the tank (one for small jobs and one for larger jobs). I used the small job markings, and still had more than enough left in the tank when I had finished – so maybe even a smaller job marking would be appropriate. Overall – I’m very happy with this cleaner. It’s always such a hassle to mop the floor and using this cleaner makes it more fun!

Its like playing bumper cars with a MOP!

Bissell SpinWave Quick Features on the Product Powered Hard Floor Mop Safe for all Sealed Hard Floors On Demand Spray Removable Cleaning Solution Tank Swivel Steering What's in the box? Bissell SpinWave Soft Touch Pad x2 (washable) Powerful Scrubbing Pad x2 (washable) Multi-surface Cleaning Formula Sample x2 Registration Card (2 year limited warranty) User Guide Setup/Testing/Conclusion First off let me say, the setup was really easy and self explanatory (you basically just snap the handle into place). The fill tank has indication marks for water and solution. Not only does it have indications, it also gives you the option of needing to clean a lot of space or just minimal space. Once you fill it up with warm tap water and the solution; you’re ready to go! The SpinWave comes with 2 regular soft touch pads and 2 powerful scrubbing pads for your tough messes. With the minimal fill, I was able to clean my kitchen, the landing at the front door, and the bathroom. My apartment is approximately 1050 square feet. First off, the cleaning of the kitchen and landing were wonderful! Once you power on the SpinWave, it literally just glides across your floor (effortless!). It kinda felt like playing bumper cars with a mop.... Except you weren’t bumping cars and instead bumping everything else in your house; I mean it in a very fun way by the way. After you’re done cleaning, the area smells clean thanks to the cleaning formula that Bissell crafted. Now here comes the con… Of course right? My issue was when I cleaned the bathroom. Now, it may be because the bathroom has the most dust since we have the window open all the time. But normally when I clean with a Swifter Sweeper (wet); it picks up majority of the dust. For the SpinWave, it looked as if it just kind of clumped the dust up into little balls and spun it everywhere. So after using the SpinWave, I had to use a wet solution and paper towels to clean up the dust balls; an extra step basically. But like I said, it could’ve been because my bathroom is more dusty than everywhere else. But I was hoping it would’ve caught the dust though instead of spinning it around and shooting it everywhere. Cleaning up was extremely simple. You just empty the tank (if you have any leftover solution) and remove the pads. You can then throw the pads into your laundry machine to wash. In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed the SpinWave. For the most part, it did a fantastic job. My floors feel really clean now (even with the dust situation in the bathroom). Would I recommend it? I would consider it if you’re shopping around and don’t want to use the traditional mop or a Swifter Sweeper. It was honestly enjoyable and kinda fun; I think my mother would really enjoy the SpinWave because the way it glides effortlessly throughout the floor.

    Great Product

    Posted .

The Bissell SpinWave is great. No other description is really needed. With two different sets of washing pads (one terry cloth, one terry with scratchy scrubby fabric woven in), you can pick the right pads for the job. The SpinWave is fairly weighted well enough to keep solid contact with the floor. It is also relatively easy to control. The solution sprays out an even, appropriate amount of solution with the push of a button on the handle. (Only complaint about the solution spray button is that it is right next to the on/off button and I found myself shutting the SpinWave off multiple times during my first use.) The pads absorb a fair amount of dirt and liquid. They was clean in the washing machine and trap dirt and hair well, but you still need to dry sweep the floors before using the SpinWave otherwise hard particles of dirt or dust bunnies will just get flung around on your floor by the spinning pads. The only thing that would make the SpinWave better would be a suction or beater brush function to suck up particles of dirt that don't stick to the pads. The floor dried in a reasonable amount of time--about as long as a sponge mop or washing by hand with a bucket. I found the solution container to store an adequate amount of solution to get the job done. We also let the SpinWave sit overnight with the solution bottle full, to test if it leaks or not. Ours did not, so if you forget to empty the bottle before you put the SpinWave away, you are probably ok. The SpinWave is fairly quiet and saved me time (and back pain) and left me with clean floors. I definitely recommend the product. Very satisfied after first few uses.

Superb device for floor cleaning and scrubbing

    Posted .

Having been unsatisfied with various other floor cleaning options in the past, I was eagerly looking forward to receiving this product. Assembly is easy as the Bissell SpinWave comes shipped in basically three (3) parts: body, handle/stem, and cleaner/water solution bottle. Bissell also provides two (2) bottles of 8 oz. cleaning formula. Once the SpinWave is turned on the cleaning pads 1) rotate at a manageable speed (e.g. does not create too much torque as to make the device unmanageable) and 2) clean/scrub very well. Specific areas with stains can be targeted by simply spraying additional solution and allowing the pads to remain over the stain for an extended period of time. Stains are easily removed in a short period of time. The key to the SpinWave's ability to effectively scrub is its weight. The SpinWave has a a fairly weighty scrubbing "head" which 1) provides sufficient downward force for applying more force to the scrubbing pads in order to scrub away stains and 2) provides stability when the SpinWave is operating. The SpinWave is also highly manuevable with its pivotable head. Overall, the SpinWave is a amazing product which, for me, makes all the other floor cleaning solutions absolete. Highly recommended..

    Love It

This has been the best for my hardwood floors. The entire first floor of my home is hardwood and I've made due with a Swiffer and the wet mops, which always ended up coating a small part of the area and drying out quickly after. Cleaning with this is super simple - the rotating mop heads work great and I'm able to load the cleaning solution into the tank and spray it as needed. It is a little larger than I was expecting it'd be, but other than that I have nothing bad to say about this.

Great for hard floors and quick clean ups!

    Posted .

Living in a decent size apartment with tile in the kitchen and bathroom, the SpinWave is perfect for me when it comes to quick clean ups! I found this unit to be fairly useful and handy when it comes to a bi weekly scheduled cleaning I like to incorporate. It's very easy to use, comes with 2 different pairs of clean pads (scrubby and soft), 2 trial size bottles (which I still happen to use since you have to have to dilute it with warm water) and a long extension cord making cleaning a whole kitchen a breeze. Since I have a scheduled cleaning cycle, I can not comment whether this is good on hard dried on spots, but this works very well with normal debris. Hope this helps in your cleaning adventures. Thanks.

    Good Product

    Posted .

Great idea and product but I wouldn't buy again. The product reminds me of my basic training and AIT days when I assisted with buffing the floors. This product is similar but a whole lot lighter. It comes with two bottles of solution, bumper pads and scrub pads and of course the machine. If you are thinking of getting this keep in mind that it's like a buffer so it's not a quick and easy mopping the floor. I have laminate floors in my home and it did help my floors to stop looking cloudy after cleaning. Overall I enjoyed this product and it's great to use once a week but I will stick with my normal cleaning for daily use.

No more regular mops for me !

    Posted .

What a great product , using a regular mop to clean my hardwood floor was getting old until I got this Bisselle powered mop. The reusable pads are great, just use them and throw them into the washer mashine to reuse them. This is perfect since I have a dog inside the house I have to clean my wood floors daily, with this power mop makes it a little easy for me . First make sure you vacuum and sweep your floors , then just fill up the tank of this power mop with cold or warm water ,add the cleaning solution and clean my floors (the tank has a mark for big areas or small areas ) . At first I though I would have to take the pads and rewash them while cleaning , but I was wrong , I clean a couple of my rooms with only half of the tank and the same pads and the floors are clean ,smelling good and the floor was dry pretty fast. Out of the box was easy to assemble and start working on the floors, it comes with two regular soft pads for wood floors, two pads for rough floors to clean like tiles and two samples of the multi surface cleaning solution. I wish it would've included the hardwood Cleaning solution to try it out on all of my floors since hardwood is all I've got. Anyhow the multi surface solution did fine, I would have to go to the store and buy the hardwood floor cleaning solution. If you are tired of the regular mops, get this power mop. It's easy to use, swivel steering making it easy to clean under cabinets in the kitchen and under the bed floors.

    Great floor scrubber and cleaner

This product is excellent. It turned my very ugly looking vinyl floor to super clean and shiny. For scrubbing I used kitchen scrubbers and sew it underneath the pads and it worked great. This machine in less than $100 does the work of commercial scrubbing machine. I used baking soda and vinegar ( to avoid harsh chemicals) and my floor became spotless.

    Good for most hard floors

    Posted .

I wanted a floor cleaner that would be easier to get into tight spaces than the Swiffer wet jet. I must say the Spinwave is much easier to get into those areas because it swivels when you use it. I'm a small person so I really had to hold on to it since it really goes once the power is on. I found it a bit heavier than expected . As far as cleaning goes I have multiple hard floors of different materials & decided to try it on each one. For the ceramic tile it cleaned very well & easily , same for the laminate flooring. My hardwood floors are old but it did a nice job of cleaning those as well. I tried it on my vinyl kitchen floor which looks like wood & it dulled it terribly, I had to dig the polish out, so I don't recommend it for that. It was easy to assemble, easy to use, comes with small bottles of cleaning solution, 2 regular pads & 2 scrubbing pads, which I recommend rinsing or hand washing after each use because I think the product & dirt would be hard to get out if left in there too long & my floors aren't even dirty.

Quiet, fast scrubber for a clean beyond mopping

    Posted .

The SpinWave powered hard floor mop is a handy device to have around if you want to a go beyond simple mopping. Two large counter rotating heads do more than just wipe down the floor, They scrub it and will get it cleaner than a mop alone. Arguably cleaner even than a steam mop. It's well designed, Very easy to assemble (just click the two handle pieces together) and very lightweight. The cleaning solution bottle pops off with a small pull and clicks back in just as easy once you mix the cleaner (two bottles of concentrate included) with water. The power mop stands up on its own with the handle is in up and locked position, a plus. But the power cord is a bit on the short side so be prepared to unplug and move it whatever room you are cleaning. You get two different scrub pads. An all-soft one for wood floors, and a second set with more heavy duty scrubbers for tile and laminate. Just two buttons, power and spray, are the only controls and are easy to reach at the top of the handle. Once you you hit the power switch (prepare to be amazed at how quiet it is) and spray a little solution, the power mop glides easily over the floor. Very little effort is required although you do have to pay attention to steering since bumping up against a wall or furniture will send it flying. The power mop uses swivel steering, which can be handy when maneuvering around furniture. I found the power mop will pick up most regular dirt and small stains with no issue but still won't scrub away the really tough stuck-on ones. A little hand scrubbing with elbow grease still required for that. But this gizmo will probably deal with 99 percent of what you want it to do. The cleaning solution works quite well, dries fast and does not leave any sticky residue. But does leave a bit of a film on very shiny surfaces. That's unavoidable with almost any kind of mop so no big demerits for that. I was a little worried about using it on my prefinished wood floor since it is not totally sealed. But it works fine using very little cleaning solution (you decide how much) so there is not much concern about a lot of moisture getting in between the cracks. In fact, the power mop gets by on much less water than any other kind of mop (except perhaps a steam mop). Once the heads are damp, you don't really need to add much more solution except to add cleaning power. Be aware a little solution goes a long way so start with the "small area" mix levels on the bottle. Like most mops of this type, you have to remove the pads and throw them in the washing machine after each use if you want to start clean each time. But they are well made and appear they will last a while. In the end, you get a lot of extra cleaning power with very little effort, which is what a power mop should be all about. I recommend this one.

Like a Swiffer WetJet on steroids

    Posted .

My first impression of the Bissell SpinWave was it didn't work, as nothing happened when I pressed the On/Off button as shown in the instructions. I found if you reverse Steps 2 and 3, it will start up just fine. That little hiccup was the only thing negative experience. If you have used and liked the Swiffer WetJet, think of the SpinWave as a future generation of hard floor cleaners here now: powered wet cleaning and spinning heads to do the work. The device is light in weight for a powered device, and the motor is very quiet, a definite plus. As I used it and got more familiar with the operation, I found it to be very maneuverable, as the handle moves it easily in all four directions and allows you to get into small areas. Another design asset is the base unit holding the spinning cleaning heads is such that you can clean under the edge of low furniture so as not to leave a visible clean/unclean line at the furniture edge. The power cord is very long, so you don't have to keep changing outlets. In addition, the cleaning liquid is quick drying! It's to soon to know about long-tern durability, but based on the experience so far, I'd be optimistic. It seems too well thought out for durability to be overlooked in the design process.

Easy To Use, Gets Floors Clean

    Posted .

Easy To Use, Gets Floors Clean I'll start by saying that I don't like mopping. Whether it's with a traditional string mop, a sponge mop, or whatever, it just feels like I'm just moving dirty water around the floor. That's why I was excited to try the Bissell SpinWave. Overall, I found it easy to set up, easy to use, and it really did get my floors clean. First thing out of the box is setup -- the SpinWave comes in two pieces that snap together very easily. No real assembly required. Putting the cleaning pads on was very easy as well. Just line them up and press-on. I didn't have them centered perfectly on the bottom of the SpinWave the first time, but it's Velcro, so all I had to do was peel and stick again, easy-peasy. The SpinWave comes with two sets of pads, "Soft" and "Scrubby," depending on how delicate your floors are, and how dirty they are. The pads are machine washable, but I'm sure they will wear out eventually. Currently, $20 will get you a replacement kit (including both types). Next is the cleaning solution -- the reservior has markings on the sides to show you how much water and cleaning fluid to add, no measuring required. There's one set of markings for a large area and another set for a small area. Pretty convenient. The SpinWave came with two bottles of multi-surface cleaning fluid, and it looks like replacement bottles are available for around $10 each (and come in multi-surface or wood floor formulas). Once I was all set up, I was ready to clean the floors. There are just two buttons on the device handle, power on/off and fluid spray. I hit the power button, and the SpinWave started... well... spinning. It was very quiet, and the spinning of the heads actually propelled the SpinWave slightly along the floor, so I didn't even have to push, just let it glide along and do its thing. The spray button reliably applied a consistent amount of solution to the area just in front of the SpinWave, which did a nice job cleaning the floors, both tile and laminate. I was pretty happy with the results. Using the SpinWave was quick and easy, the floor dried quickly, and looked great when I was done.

    Cleans well with less effort

    Posted .

Bissell's SpinWave delivers exactly what it promises - clean floors with no scrubbing effort - but with some caveats. People with large, hard-floored spaces will especially find it valuable. For everyone else, it saves enough scrubbing work to merit a look, but has a few drawbacks to consider. Basic assembly was pretty easy - the main body just snaps together. It comes with 2 types of circular cleaning pads for different floor surfaces. The pads require a little care to align correctly - it took me a couple of tries to get them exactly centered and eliminate the excess vibration when the motors were running. (Probably something that will get easier with time.) Once running, it definitely feels pretty powerful. The action of the spinning pads gives it "self-propelled" type of feeling. It was actually a little surprising how strong this action is. I wouldn't say it was an issue for me, but I loaned it to my mother to get her take on it, and she actually felt it required quite a bit of effort to control it and change direction. Of course, how much of a downside this is would really depend on how much open space the user has to cover. It's a relatively compact device, but the rounded pads naturally mean it can't get all the way into corners. If you're someone who literally doesn't like to cut corners when cleaning, you'll probably still have a little extra work to do after you've SpinWave'd the majority of the floor. It's not always apparent from the front-on pictures, but this is a corded device. That's certainly not a flaw since the cord seemed sufficiently long. Slightly less portability, but on the other hand it's always ready to go and there's no worry about batteries wearing down over time. The pads washed up fine - not out-of-the-box new, but they definitely picked up quite a bit of grime. All in all, I would really recommend this product in some situations, and temper expectations in others. As I said above, for big open spaces (with few corners) it's very efficient thanks to the natural self-propelling motion. For tight spaces, that is countered a bit by the extra effort required to change direction. In either type of space, it's probably a godsend for people with bad knee or back issues who would happily corral the machine while standing up than be kneeling or bending.

    A Back Saver!

    Posted .

The SpinWave is a great automatic mop. While I've mopped both on my hands and knees and a general mop, the Bissell SpinWave does just about as good and does so with almost no effort on the user. In the box you'll find 2 sets of pads, and 2 containers of the multi-purpose cleaner. There is a more specific hardwood cleaner listed in the manual, but I have not had a chance to try it yet. The included cleaner does a really good job though on both hardwood and linoleum. The best part is that it gets all but the most stubborn of messes on these floors with less effort than running a vacuum. It's super simple to operate, you simply fill the reservoir with water to a mark on the container. Then fill the container up to another mark with multi-purpose cleaner. Insert the reservoir, plug the mop in and hit the go switch. Both mops begin to turn in opposite directions. There's a button (that does let out a slightly annoying beep noise) that sprays fluid out so you can start to mop. It's hard to see the water come out, but it does. From this point, mopping is a breeze as it moves gracefully on your floor. When you're done, you simply remove the pads and wash them in your washing machine. The manual even gives tips on how to get the pads to attach perfectly. I have very little criticism to level against the SpinWave. The beep is annoying against an otherwise silent tool, however it exists because the water pump is so quiet you'd be likely to over watering your floors. It does take up a bit more space than a traditional mop, and wires can get in the way while mopping. A cordless would be a great idea, but it's hard to beat the power that comes with a plugged in device. All in all, I highly recommend this product! It's been a back saver, and a wonderful way to maintain your hard floors!

Light, fast and easy to use.

    Posted .

I have been using this item for a week now and love the speed and time it has saved me. The weight is fairly light even with a full container of solution. I have mostly tiles and wood floors and cleaning with a mop and bucket was tedious and time consuming to say the least. With a full container of the included solution, or your own like Murphy oil, or just plain hot water, I was able to do approximately 240 square feet of wood floors and tiles. The kit comes with two sets of pads, a soft set that I used and a more rougher type pad that I doubt I will need to use. The pads do leave circle and streak marks but they disappear after the solutions your using dries. I have used the pads several times in a row without washing when using just plain water or their included solution. When I used Murphy oil, I hand washed the pads before next use. The pads are thick and seem durable but another two pairs can be had for as little $20 The cleaner saves me time and pain of wringing out a mop and less back effort.

    Impressed

    Posted .

My wife and I have been using the Bissell SpinWave mop for several weeks now and thus far are impressed with its performance. We had been using a Swiffer Sweeper on our wood floors but I wanted to get something that was a little easier to use and didn’t require as much elbow grease and this fit the bill. At first I was worried it would leak during storage and used a cheap Wal-Mart litter pan to store it in just in case it leaked in the closet onto our wood floors but so far we have had no leaks. I also didn’t want a steaming floor mop since we had wood floors and the steam isn’t good for them. Filling the machine with water and cleaning solution was easy. The first time we used it I was worried that the sprayer would get some furniture and carpet but it just sprayed the cleaning solution onto the floor right in front of the machine and it was easy to aim and manage. The machine is quiet and the cord is about 22' long. While the cord is long enough to get an adjacent room, a slightly longer cord would be welcome as our entire first floor is wood and it would be nice to avoid having to use multiple outlets. The pads didn’t turn too quickly and there was no worry about it sitting in one spot for too long. The mop was easy to glide and steer across the floor and did an excellent job cleaning our wood floor. The pads were easily removed and cleaned for repeated use. We are very happy with the Bissell SpinWave and I recommended it to my sister, who just bought a house with wood floors.
