Bitdefender Premium Security is a good option

The Bitdefender Premium Security (Individual, 5 device), provides one year of virus/ransomware protection for up to 5 devices that can be either Android, Windows, Apple iOS, Mac OS or Linux. So it can protect your computers and mobile phones too. It also provides a secure VPN to use when your internet isn't secure, a password manager and anti-scam utilities. And it provides call-blocking filters for scams and spam - for Android only.
How well does it protect from those security issues? I hope I never know the answer to that question! It was a very easy install after the digital download. I changed a few settings to better suit my needs such as setting up a daily schedule for a quick scan and one for a full scan. I was able to uncheck the setting that would deliver promotional notifications and/or email from Bitdefender. My previous security software would send endless marketing and other promotional notifications every time I was on my computer and it was so frustrating not to be able to shut that off. With Bitdefender, I am able to do that. Their software also allows me to check for vulnerabilities on my computer and they found a few. I was then asked if I wanted those fixed - yes, I did, and then they did it for me. When I checked again, all vulnerabilities were gone.
I use security software for a couple reasons: I do not want to be hacked and attacked by malware. I save photos (many, many photos), videos, financial information, personal information, etc. on my computer. It is for my eyes only - I don't want it on the internet (or dark web), and I don't want it to be accessed and or sold. I also use it for the VPN (Virtual Private Network). Sometimes I get a notification that my connection may not be secure. In those cases, I switch over to the VPN and I no longer receive those notifications and I know my connection is now secure and Bitdefender allows unlimited traffic to pass through the VPN, they don't limit it. I do not use the password manager because I already have one that I like and use.
In this world we live in, we need to know our personal information is as secure as it can be. We hear of new cyber threats all the time and I do not want to fall victim to it. With Bitdefender Premium Security (Individual, 5 device), I feel I am doing the best I can do to protect my personal data, and it hasn't affected the performance of my computer at all. I would recommend this software.

Comprehensive Security Software

For everything it offers, Bitdefender Premium Security is a good value. You get a suite of tools to help protect your security, personal details, and passwords. The unlimited VPN is also great, although the speeds and ping are not as strong as NordVPN. I am personally of the belief that Windows’ built-in antivirus tools are generally good enough for most people, but Bitdefender covers all the bases and then some.
Bitdefender Premium Security comes in the form of a digital download. You register for an account and activate the software through the Bitdefender website. In total, the installation took less than 10 minutes. During the installation, Windows’ built-in antivirus was deactivated and replaced by Bitdefender.
The software and all the tools are managed through a central dashboard. The dashboard walks you through some basic setup of things like system scans and scam protection. It’s a pretty dizzying array of tools you can access, but the main dashboard does a good job of keeping the important stuff front and center.
The antivirus and firewall seem to work well, though I have not actively been trying to expose myself to threats. There’s a browser extension as well that helps evaluate websites to make sure they’re safe. In addition to this, there is also an AI scam detection tool that can be used to identify potential scams. It also has a Copilot-like interface where you can ask it questions or feed it text or images for analysis.
There are some built-in tools for ‘optimizing’ system performance, though this really amounts to cleaning junk files and fixing registry entries, as well as clearing out cookies. Most of it isn’t anything you wouldn’t have access to in Windows, but it is a nice all-in-one location for it.
The VPN and anti-tracking tools were of particular interest to me. Unlimited data over the VPN is included with this subscription. It’s certainly useable, but I found the ping and speeds to be slower compared to the service I have been using (NordVPN). You also get access to a password manager service, similar to other VPN’s.
In terms of performance, I haven’t noticed any degradation in my games or other tasks on my PC. It seems generally pretty lightweight while working in the background. I will say that I do get more pop up notifications than I’d like to setup certain services, but hopefully those will become less frequent over time.
Overall I’m generally happy with Bitdefender. I think it’s a good choice, especially for those who aren’t necessarily the most tech savvy or eagle-eyed when it comes to online threats. Though it can be a bit intrusive sometimes and the VPN isn't quite on par with what I've previously used, I trust it to come through where it counts.

Bitdefender Premium Secure Protection Easy To Use

I’m primarily a Mac user and have always felt that my MacBook Air and other Apple devices are safe from most of the Black Hat threats out there. However, I’ve starting using PCs for a piece of my business and the free anti-virus software that came with the laptop had run out. So, it was a perfect time to try Bitdefender - Premium Security Individual 5 device 1 Year - Windows, Apple iOS, Mac OS, Android, Linux [Digital]. Until now I have never used any Bitdefender products so was interested to give it a try.
Setup –
As this was a digital version, the key code was sent electronically and was used on the Bitdefender site to setup a new account. For setting up an account, it took an email address and password and once an account is established the key code can be entered. The download and install process took about 5 minutes on both a Dell laptop and a MacBook Air. For the PC, a “device assessment” ran as setup completed and that only took a few more minutes as there isn’t much on that machine yet.
The setup process was a bit easier than on my MacBook as there were multiple steps required to give Bitdefender access to the MacBook extensions, etc. Overall they were both straight forward and can be done by a seasoned user or a computer newbie.
Usage and Overall Experience –
The Bitdefender Dashboard is laid out clearly and is easy to navigate. It’s broken into Antivirus, Scam Protection, Web Protection, Anti-Ransomware and Email Protection. The user can click into each of these areas to setup and monitor the ongoing protection. For Antivirus a quick scan, system scan or custom scan can be setup to run automatically or they can be run manually. I ran a quick scan on my MacBook and it scanned over 270K files in just over 4 minutes.
The Scam Protection area is where I feel this product can be very useful to today’s internet users. There are so many scams being created and sent out through websites, emails, etc. it’s hard to know what’s real and what is not. With the Scamio Pro feature, simply drop the suspected scam text, photo, etc. into the AI based chat window and Scamio will confirm whether the item is a scam or real.
There’s Email Protection, simply setup your existing email accounts and Bitdefender will scan the inbound traffic for any malicious objects. It’s a great peace of mind to know that something suspicious emails will be scanned and blocked.
There’s also a VPN feature that provides anonymity while cruising the internet. I’ve found this feature to be very helpful when trying to get the best prices on travel and entertainment. It’s widely known that airlines will increase prices to users they identify shopping certainly flights…this is no longer an problem when using a VPN conncetion.
My overall experience is that Bitdefender - Premium Security Individual 5 device 1 Year - Windows, Apple iOS, Mac OS, Android, Linux (Digital version) product is easy to download and install, setup is customizable based on your desired coverage and computer habits and it’s loaded with features to protect any user from the scores of scams, viruses and bad actors trying to make your life unpleasant! It’s also notable that compared to some of the other products I’ve used, Bitdefender seems to just do its job and does not bother the user with upgrade features, emails and offers. This is another plus for me, and I would think most anyone looking for an antivirus protection solution. I would certainly recommend this product!
Pros:
- Easy to install and setup
- Works for PCs and Mac products
- Well thought out dashboard
- Customizable
- Multiple levels of protection for web-browsing, emails, etc.
- Configuration suggestions offered
Cons:
- Haven’t found any after a week or so of using the product

Retails for 129.99 for 1 year, but at least you can install it on up to 5 devices. I have this product installed on my android phone, laptop, and desktop computers – both devices are running windows 11.
The VPN feature is really nice, it reports tons of blocked adds and trackers when it is enabled, but I did run into some pitfalls when trying to install the main bitdefender software while the VPN tunnel was active (during the software install my vpn tunnel was disabled, but I could manually re-enable after the install was complete) and attempting to shop for items at most sites would try to send me to stores in New York, Chicago, Denver…or any location that I picked when activating the VPN tunnel. This is likely a limitation with all VPN software and shouldn’t be a knock on Bitdefender directly. I did play around with Split-tunneling for select sites under the Advanced tab, but while adding exclusions there allows your actual location to pass thru, it also lets thru ads, so pick your battles.
A new software feature is Email protection, but it only can be activated for gmail or Microsoft accounts. This protection had to be set up through the total security app after it was installed on my laptop. I could not find a place through the bitdefender apps on my android phone to set up email protection. Also, my main email account is yahoo mail, so I am out of luck for protection on this specific account. I do have protection on my lesser-used gmail account though, so I was able to test out protection there and have not had anything flagged as suspicious yet.
If you receive a suspicious link/text/image, or email; on the android app, you can copy and paste it into their scam protection area and it will let you know if it is a safe link or not. There are other features on the android, like call blocking that I will be trying down the road as spam calls start rolling in, but I have not received any unwanted calls during my abbreviated product testing period.
Useful notifications: If you want to see how much the product is doing in the background, just check out the notifications area – I haven’t logged into my linkedin account for a while, but one of the notifications that popped up was a data breach for linkedin that took place on 12/15 as well as giving you suggestions on protecting yourself or other remediation steps to take (fix, update, montor, view log, deny, etc).
I did not test their password manager, safepay, or scam protection, so I cannot give any feedback on those features. So far I have not received any notifications of anyone hacking any of my accounts, but it has only been 7 days since installing & using the security suite.
If any or multiple of these features interest you, I recommend that you get or at least try out this product. It is nice to have all of these tools at your disposal for one yearly price.

Bitdefender - Premium Security Individual 5 device 1 Year - Windows, Apple iOS, Mac OS, Android, Linux [Digital]
I’ve been using Bitdefender’s security software since 2017. Before that I actually chose to avoid security products because of their disruptive or annoying behavior. In those days prior to adopting Bitdefender, I would be too aware of interruptions to my work, download interference, or the worst behavior of all, relentless pitches to update, upgrade. buy unrelated products or silly scare tactics. It felt like I had paid for spam. Bitdefender shows remarkable restraint, limiting pestering to occasional updates or new product introductions. That’s respect for the customer. Most importantly, Bitdefender works.
This year’s Bitdefender offering has evolved to address the emergence of relentless spam, scam and other threats in the online world. For a reasonable price they are offering a collection of protections I wanted to add to my devices.
INSTALLATION: Keeping in mind that I already have (updated) older versions of Bitdefender, my experience might be different from yours. I had a glitch. I couldn’t get past entering my software Key Code and acknowledging the legal agreement before the install app froze up. Repeated efforts to complete the install failed. Finally, restarting my computer and wandering away for awhile seems like it was the cure for my problems. I can’t explain it. Every new feature was now available in the expanded Bitdefender Dashboard and the Bitdefender program encouraged enabling various elements. See photos for a few setup pages.
PERFORMANCE: Features were reviewed for my Mac Mini M4 and iPhone 14. This is a virus/malware product that just works, unobtrusively, behind the scenes. It’s comprehensive. While it detects virus or malware in the background automatically, monitoring file and web activity, I can also scan my disk manually in the background of other work. The scanning is based in the cloud, and requires minimal computer resources.
Bitdefender defends against ransomeware, provides secure browsing, and offers a lengthy list of protection services and privacy defenses. Bitdefender maintains a continually updated database of malicious websites, so attacks are detected and interrupted before they can cause a problem.
Bitdefender Premium includes a VPN feature which in this product is unlimited. They have added an AI powered Scam Copilot that allows you to paste suspicious messages, images of links and tests them for scam efforts.
SCAMIO PRO is also included. I tried pasting links and uploading a screenshots/images of a suspicious mailing and it analyzed it and reported out all of th unusual and scammy issues, while warning against trusting it or using any links. I could also have uploaded a QR codes, or typed out suspicious text messages/scenarios, and Scamio will analyzes it and provide its conclusion: safe or scam.
There is a password manager which duplicates Apple’s Mac password management.
Although it is not enabled for iPhone, there is Smart Call Blocking for Android phones.
SUMMARY: Bitdefender provides useful menus, help and guidance. I had initial difficulty, but it’s hard for me to determine why, and with this level ease-of-use and performance, I’m not holding a grudge. Bitdefender is an easy Security program to recommend. Bitdefender Premium Security application is a powerful, manageable, trustworthy virus protection solution. And, it has additional programs and features which most end users will want to use. It adds to my confidence as I wander around the Internet. They treat the user respectfully by not intruding on their work or play with unwanted advertising or unhelpful distractions. I trust them.

My favorite antivirus

This is my favorite Antivirus software this year. I say this as it is highly effective, has little in the way of ads / spam and does not slow down my computer in any meaningful way.
Pros:
- Fast
- Effective
- Useful features
- Easy UI
Cons:
- Ram intensive
Installation:
The process is easy with registration of the key in my account and downloading the software. After an initial scan, it is ready to go, and you can enable features as needed.
Features: Various tabs are utilities, privacy and protection. The dashboard gets you around the quick actions you use the most.
Protection tab will probably be the most used with obvious scanning features. I was interested in scam protection and email protection features. If you register for these, the software will scan incoming SMS, calls, and emails for scams. On my Pixel I did not use scam screening as Pixel already has a great suite, but on my iPhone and S25U I did try it out and enable it as they don’t have features that are great for this in my opinion. Email protection works on the server to screen emails as they get delivered. The email will get a label saying “safe” or “unsafe” for example. Obviously, you must be willing to give the software access to your Outlook or Gmail account, so that is a per user decision on privacy. There is also a crypto mining feature so stop rogue software from mining without your knowledge.
The privacy tab adds a VPN which you can set to turn on all the time, or only on unsecured networks. There is also a secure environment to make online payments or software to manage passwords here. I tried the password software. It is good, but I didn’t end up sticking with it since you have to first log into your Bitdefender account and then use your password manager’s master password to use it each time which became a little annoying to me.
Utilities contain profiles, a file shredder, anti-theft protection (for files), and what I found most useful, a one-click optimizer. This is a free feature whereas other brands might charge extra. It will clean your registry for you as well as temp files, cache, and so on.
Resources:
The only complaint I had is that it uses a bit more RAM than I am used to with anti-virus software. Only my 32GB laptop uses about 1GB on average, which is only 3%, but still more than normal. Luckily, I noticed the processor use almost always at 0% when idle and between 2-7% of CPU utilization while scanning which was not noticeable on my Core Ultra 285H 16 cores. I also tested it on my Core i7 13th Gen processor and a Snapdragon X Elite. All performed great while scanning.

Excellent Robust Protection

Been using Bitdefender Premium security for about two weeks now and am very happy with it so far. So far I have not noticed any lag to my system and find my systems run just as well as they did prior to install, only difference is now I am protected.
The amount of features offered in this package is amazing. Protection which includes antivirus and which has been great. Scans are fast which is a plus. Scam protection is a nice feature for anyone who may not be able to identify online scams but great as it alerts you of known scams allowing me to be vigilant. I also appreciate the vulnerability scan which will point out potential issues on your system that can be exploited. As someone who has been in IT for 20 years, I was confident that my system was secure but the vulnerability scan pointed out an issue that I overlooked and allowed me to close the security gap.
The privacy settings is also excellent with a built in VPN which I have been using and has been great. Safepay is a nice feature but honestly I haven’t used it much as I don’t do much online shopping. The anti tracker is excellent and has alerted me of sites that I frequent regularly letting me know there were trackers and blocked them. It also blocks any connections it deems suspicious when browsing online. Wish I had this sooner for this feature.
Finally, this further becomes a great all in one package due to the one click optimizer to remove files that are not needed as well as providing the ability to remove files that you want to make sure are completely removed from your system using the built in file shredder.
As an IT professional for 20 years, I appreciate this security suite offered by Bitdefender. Overall I love Bitdefender premium and highly recommend it. You can’t go wrong.

Nuked tens of thousands of emails?

Setup is simple. I didn't have a Bitdefender account already so setting that up was quick and easy. Entered the code to activate the subscription, downloaded and installed without any issue.
First thing it does is a scan of the device, looking for any threats or attack traces. Marked my device as safe with no traces, and I opened the program.
Once the program opens, it begins suggesting more things. Ransomware remediation they want to enable. Doesn't appear to incur an additional cost so I enabled it so I can see what it will do. I have backups in multiple locations both online and offline so I'm never worried about losing data, but figured I should see what it does.
Then it recommended email protection. It offers to protect outlook and gmail, so I started with my Hotmail account. It opens the Microsoft webpage that any IT people would be familiar with, asking for permissions to access things and read the mail. This is where conspiracy people may balk. I did not realize it was actually opening my 365 work account not my personal Hotmail until it was too late, but it went without issues.
But here is where it really was a pain. Most people who use any of the Microsoft accounts, 365, etc, are always signed in even though they may have multiple accounts. And this pop up kept going to my work email and not giving me the option to SELECT WHICH email I wanted to protect. It simply autologged into the wrong one. It had a "Cancel" button that I'd hit so I could try to select another account, but it was literally five minutes of messing with it trying to hit cancel, and then be able to click the "back" button above the email address before it automatically went with the default. Frustrating, but eventually I was able to tie it into my Hotmail account. Then I did the same thing for Gmail, which while I have a lot of Gmail accounts, only one is always signed in so I had no issues. Unfortunately, it can only scan two accounts, so I had to remove the work account in order to add the Gmail account.
But during my adding of the account, I had a popup - suspicious connection blocked. Apparently it did not like the fact that my barracuda spam appliance that I run for my organization (and that I had open in another web tab) doesn't have an SSL since it's behind a firewall and does nothing but pass SMTP traffic through so I've never needed the SSL. But while it blocked it, at least it gave me the immediate option to add an exception for it. I appreciated that, so many programs do NOT give the immediate option to change a setting like that and you have to hunt for it.
Now when adding the gmail email protection, it gives more options. Google, by default, will require a review every 6 months to keep allowing access. But here you can set the option to allow Bitdefender ongoing access without any further review. Since this is just a 1 year subscription I left it at needing permissions every 6 months. Again this is where the conspiracy people will balk - you have to allow it to see, edit, and read, compose, and send emails from you through gmail.
Once you get past that, then it successfully signs you in and you're done with the setup.
This is the point where the bit defender program became nonresponsive. I had to get to task manager and end task. When I went to start it again, I saw a new Bitdefender VPN icon on my desktop. Not something I expected or wanted as I have my own VPN software for privacy as well as another VPN client for my SSL connections to clients around the world. I'll dig into that later, first I wanted back into the program to work through the rest of the options.
It opened again just fine. The dashboard is the default view, and you can remove and pin items you want available for the quick access page here. It defaults to Scam Protection, System Scan, Vulnerability Scan, VPN, Safepay, and the option to add another action.
It has an anti-tracker option, it apparently supports edge and chrome, which I use, and firefox which I don't, but not my brave browser.
VPN seems pretty well fleshed out, not some little simple thing I was expecting. It will default to a fast location for you but you can manually specify countries you wish to route through.
You can lock settings behind a password, and fortunately there's an option to disable special in-product upsell ads - LOVE that addition, so many companies spam you with trying to get you to buy other features. I like that you can suppress that here. There are utilities for shredding files, optimizing the computer, something that many programs can do, and usually causes more harm than good, so use it with caution. Even can monitor webcam and microphone access so you'd know if someone is using them without your knowledge.
Scanned the QR to get things installed on my iPhone. I was glad to see that the app in the Apple store has 4.7 of 5 stars for the rating. Apparently the way it protects phones is to do things through a VPN. All DNS queries are routed through their public DNS resolver to check traffic. It sets it right in the IOS VPN section so you can enable and disable it at will if it causes any issues. In nearly a week of use, I've had no issues at all with my phone for all my personal and work tasks.
Looking at the notifications, there's a frustrating graphics issue where it can't display the one on the bottom - since I can't resize the window, if there are enough things, when you click the down carat to expand it, it expands the "fix it" button below the edge of the app window so you can't do anything. You have to resolve issues higher up. And oddly enough it nags about internet explorer settings, something that isn't even directly accessible anymore in the current OS.
I see the price is currently about half of what it normally is, and going to their website I see that purchasing it is the cheap price "for the first year." Which tells me that the double price must be what is charged if you renew. At the initial year price I would've said this was a good deal, but at the renewal price, that value drops. Now it's not horrible, since this isn't a single license, but for five devices. And this includes what seems to be a pretty full featured VPN client as well, which would normally be a bit of change on its own in addition to the rest of the protection. So divided by 5 it's a reasonable cost even after the price jump. But I have never been a fan of price jumps like this. I'd rather they did a medium of the two and simply had the one price for the initial year as well as the renewals.
Unlike a few other things I've tried this year that involve tracking blocking and such, I've had no issues so far with any websites over the last week after installing this.
Sometimes on the dashboard are recommendations. Right now there is one about automatic profiles recommendation. It gives a "show more details" link under the box. Click it and it does nothing. There are no more details anywhere. It DOES show "Hide Details" though - click THAT, and again nothing changes other than it now gives "Show more details" again.
The man program UI seems to have some issues.
And much like the lockup I mentioned earlier, when I was informed in the tray area that it blocked some trackers, and I clicked on the notification, once again when it went to open the main app, that locked up. Unfortunately, this time I can't even end the task in task manager. It's totally nonresponsive. Rest of the computer worked, but I can't quit this time. Both of the tasks are un-endable. So I had to reboot.
Opened fine again after that reboot. I checked the events and cleared things out, and then noticed it was asking to do a full scan for the first time. So I let that run. I have a PST for my Outlook program with things saved from 25 years ago. Apparently a few things even as far back as 2000 had something in them that triggered this scan. Which to me demonstrates something about the thoroughness of this tool. Those things have been there for TWENTY FIVE YEARS and not a single other tool I've ever used or scanned with paid any attention to them. THAT is impressive, and made this program earn back the star I was going to take off for the main app locking up and the price hike after a year. I mean seriously - 25 years, nothing else found those traces of malware in those emails. That is some serious scanning right there.
But then I found out what it actually DID - it did not clean those emails - it utterly deleted that archive PST of mine completely. So I lost it ALL. Not at all a good solution here. Fortunately I have backups in multiple locations, and that rarely gets anything new in it, it is simply for archiving purposes, so I was able to put it back. But I'm sorry - no program should ever delete an ENTIRE PST because of three mails out of tens of thousands that it contains had some remnant of a 25 year old fingerprint from something...
Initially, I was going to say that overall, I liked this. The combination of various protective tools really does seem to be a comprehensive feature set. And again while I'm not a fan of raising the price after the first year, for five devices with all these applets, including a real VPNs, it's not bad at all. But the way it sometimes locks up so bad that you can't even end task in task manager but have to REBOOT, the way it totally deletes without ANY warning an entire PST and all the data therein? That is NOT the kind of thing I'd recommend to people. The rest of it seems good, so if you're careful and don't let it anywhere near your mail if you use Outlook, maybe it will be OK for you.

I have not used after market security software in many years. I relied solely on the native security features of Windows and Chrome. So I was very curious to try out this software.
After using it for about a week I very impressed with Bitdefender Premium Security. I found the software package to be easy to install and use. The operation is seamless and I noticed no noticeable hit to PC performance, which was my primary concern. I did not want to slow my PC performance so thankfully that is not an issue.
Installation was quite straightforward. The first step is to create an account if you don’t already have one. Then download the software and allow it to install itself. The software is intuitive and walks you through the process. The next step is to enable the features you want to use and allow the software to scan your system to determine the threat levels and vulnerable areas, if any. Thankfully my PC was in good shape do I just set it to crash units monitoring.
I am glad that I gave this security software suite a chance. I find it to be easy to use. It seamlessly operated in the back ground and I am enjoying the extra peace of mind it provides.

The software code I got in an email apparently has been used before (Error). I tried the code 3 times; it sent me to the error I was getting, but I felt I was getting tail-chase and ended up wasting 1.5 hours. Time is one of the most valuable assets we have. If this company (Bitdefender) is not respecting my time or honoring its responsibilities, I have nothing to do with it, and I am requesting a refund.

Okay so let me say, I never get protections like this and for the most part all my devices have been fine. Now I tend to stick to verified websites and don’t mess around much with anything that skirts the boundaries of safe computer, tablet, or phone usage. That said, I see a place for Bitdefender Total Security in many people’s everyday life. I am impressed with what it offers so far and I’ll tell you more in the following areas.
First off I want to mention that this is not locked to one ecosystem. Meaning if you download it to your Macbook it will only work on Apple devices. I downloaded this on my ASUS Windows laptop first. I then installed it on my iPhone, then my Samsung Tab S10+. What can I say, I’m a nomad and I’m not locking myself into any one ecosystem.
-E-mail Protection
This feature helps identify scams in the emails you receive. This is great for younger and less tech-savvy people to help protect them from the millions of scam emails sent everyday. Many of us are able to pick them out, but certainly not everyone.
-Scam Copilot
This is essentially Bitdefender’s AI that tries to protect your device from scams beyond emails. It works across your device looking for scams. I haven’t had any warnings yet, but as I said earlier, I usually stay inside the lines.
-Password Manager
This feature could be useful to just about everyone. I’ll say this, no one should be using their child’s birthday or anything that has meaning to them as a password anymore. Data breaches are constant and passwords are compromised daily. Yes Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft and just about everyone else offers their own password managers but there is a big problem with them. The passwords are super secure and tend to include 12-20 characters including random letters (upper and lower case), numbers and symbols. But what if you have Apple make one of those passwords for you and want to sign in on your Windows PC? You have to grab your phone, unlock it, go to password manager and then hand type that ridiculous password. Bitdefender can be installed on five devices which will eliminate hand-typing passwords.
-VPN
The VPN is great and terrible. I love being able to hide my location from websites or being able to make it look like I am in another state to hopefully score lower hotel prices (or watch a game?) but there is a 200MB per day limit which does not provide enough bandwidth to do much. If you casually browse a little each day it may be fine, but if you are travelling or a power user you will run out fast.
Overall I think this is a great product for older folks or young teenagers. At $110 it is steep for one year, especially if you want it for all members of your family, $660 per year for me if I did that. If you find it on sale, like it is ($54.99 which is half off) as I type this, it may be worth it for certain people. For me the main benefit is the VPN which works great but is too limited for my use.

Comprehensive Internet Security - The Best

There are so many ways to get hacked and scammed on the internet today that your guard has to be up 100 percent of the time. It's not only annoying and stressful, but if your personal information is compromised, it is a serious nightmare. Nobody should be surfing the internet or opening their email without antivirus software installed on their devices. There are many to choose from, but there is also a strong 10-year industry leader.
Bitdefender is the industry leader in digital protection, and I have used various software programs under its umbrella for several years. The Bitdefender Premium Security software is the product that I am now using. It provides complete safety, total privacy, and security for up to 5 devices. The software is designed to be multiplatform, meaning that it will work on various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
There are many features of this product that I find very useful in guarding my documents, records, and privacy. I can buy the product and use it on the various operating systems mentioned above, which I find very useful. This eliminates me having to purchase different antivirus protection software for other types of computer devices. Premium Security also includes many features that I like, need, and use.
With the growing popularity of cryptocurrency, people do not realize that crypto miners can sneak onto your equipment and use it to mine cryptocurrency. I once had a hard drive burn up on a laptop I left in sleep mode. I believe someone or something was mining cryptocurrency on it, and it overheated because an iPad was sitting on top of it, on a flat surface that prevented it from ever cooling. With a simple toggle switch, I can now prevent anyone from mining crypto on my personal equipment.
This security not only serves as an antivirus but also searches and removes Malware. It includes Ransomware Protection, which is essential if someone confiscates your files and demands money to return them.
Email has become such a hassle with your address being sold to everyone and anyone. Scam and phishing attempts are constant, and it isn't very pleasant to always be on the lookout for yourself on the internet. The Bitdefender Premium Security software has excellent, innovative email protection, which, to me, was very much welcomed. In addition, AI has been added to provide enhanced support for scam protection.
This version is strong on privacy. The password manager is another feature I really like using. Let’s face it, passwords are a hassle, too. This feature allows creating a password vault that can be unlocked with a single passcode. The unlimited VPN offers 4,000+ VPN servers in 50+ countries to protect your location and identity. There is an Ad blocker and anti-tracking built into the software system. The software is designed to do all of this and help protect your identity. It even includes data breach detection.
The version that I use is for one individual and can be installed on five (5) different devices. There is also a Family version of Bitdefender Premium Security that can be used by up to 5 family members and installed on up to 25 devices. The Family version includes many Parental Controls, should that be needed. I personally would not trust any other antivirus software over this one.

Bitdefender is an impressive collection of security features and programs. I’ve had the software installed on two of my computers for several days now, and I doubt I’ve come across every feature the suite offers.
First off, installation could not be easier. Sign up for an account at the Bitdefender website, pay for the software, and download it. Purchase of the software allows installation on up to five devices, which can include mobile phones. Downloading and installation goes very quickly, and then you are presented with an opportunity for an initial system scan, which I had done. On both computers, the scans took about three minutes, and no threats were found.
You then can proceed to activate a number of additional security features, including a malware scan, VPN, “vulnerability scan,” email protection, ransomware protection, cryptomining protection, password manager, anti-tracker, and video/audio protection. An example of the kinds of vulnerabilities it detects and reports is whether or not your Windows is set up to automatically run an executable file if it finds one on an inserted flash drive. On my computers, this was set to “yes,” which I did not know, and I changed it to “no.” Another example is examining files downloaded from the internet to make sure they really are what they claim to be. On one of my computers, Bitdefender detected that I had not yet installed the latest Windows security update, which I immediately rectified. The list goes on and on. It is a truly impressive array of security features.
I have used password managers in the past, and I’ve generally been satisfied with them. It takes time for a newly-installed manager to learn the passwords of the sites I visit, and I am expecting as seamless an experience there as I have experienced with the other features I have activated.
If you’re looking for a powerful, comprehensive security setup for your computer, I don’t see how you can do better than Bitdefender.

A Good Choice

The Bitdefender - Premium Security Individual 5 device 1 Year software offers a lot of digital security features for one price. However, it’s not a ‘one-size fits all’ solution. Due to the various distinctives of the platforms Bitdefender defends, it differs somewhat in what if offers according to the platform being addressed. Because of this, you should look for reviews where it is being used in way corresponding to your anticipated application.
My initial application was for an iPad and iPhone. This is clearly a limited scenario for talking about Bitdefender in general since, to work on iOS, it’s a matter of installing a few apps. This couldn’t be easier. Once an account has been established, it’s just a matter of signing in on the app and letting it do its thing. The Bitdefender app scans files, will check emails and messages for possible scams, and perform a number of additional security-related tasks including watching your browsing activity and links. There’s a VPN app which provides even tighter protection.
The Dashboard is visually clean and helpful, though it can take some time to become familiar with the particulars of what each option offers. However, once understood, each feature seemed to work quickly and solidly and returned clear status reports.
Digital security has become increasingly important as the sophistication and creativity of malicious actors has grown. Bitdefender provides a solid answer by providing quality protection for a wide variety of devices and platforms. A good choice.

I recently installed Bitdefender and while the account creation process was a bit frustrating at first—it took me three attempts before it finally worked—the rest of the setup went smoothly across my devices. Once installed, the app immediately began an assessment, analyzing each device for threats and then prompting me with notifications to enable specific features such as VPN, scam call protection, autopilot, app anomaly detection, and app lock. I appreciate having the option to control which features are active, though it might be more convenient if Bitdefender simply turned everything on by default and asked during installation which ones I wanted to keep. One drawback I’ve noticed is that it seems to interfere with my existing password manager, making it slower to load credentials, and while Bitdefender offers its own password manager, I’m hesitant to switch since I’ve relied on mine for years. As a first responder, I also found that the alert app now lags about 30 seconds behind my husband’s phone—since mine used to notify first, and time is crucial for emergencies, this delay is concerning. That said, Bitdefender doesn’t interfere with performance in other areas, and I find the interface very easy to use. Its multi-layered protection against malware, ransomware, phishing, and scams, combined with privacy tools like VPN, password manager, and data breach detection, gives me confidence in its ability to safeguard my devices.

Unobtrusive protection, fast multiregion VPN

The Bitdefender Premium Security plan has been one of the best anti-virus and computer protection suites that I've used so far. It was pretty easy to get set up on multiple devices, and it's easy to track from the Bitdefender Central website so I can make sure that it is still active on devices that I don't use all the time but my family have access to, like my laptop. I also found that after some initial warnings and messages that are pretty typical for a new AV program, it has been relatively quiet and unobtrusive.
I especially like that Bitdefender includes a password manager and VPN with this package, and that both are full featured products that aren't just an afterthought. The VPN especially is extremely fast, while also having a ton of options for regional endpoints. The speed for the Bitdefender VPN ends up being roughly the same speed as the standalone VPN service I pay for (slightly slower downloads, slightly faster uploads) but there are way more options for regions to choose from - including double hop VPN.
This seems like a great option if you're looking for a full security suite that you can use on multiple devices, without getting badgered with a bunch of notifications to try their other services.

This is my first time using Bitdefender and I have to say I'm very impressed.
It makes solutions for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android and allows for 5 devices to be covered with the protection. I have installed in my Mac (yes, its becoming more important for Mac's to have protection). Installation was pretty straightforward but Mac makes it a bit more difficult by manually making you give the many permissions the program needs to operate.
The program also installs it's unlimited VPN application as well. With the premium version you get unlimited access to over 4,000 servers making it easy to unlocked location based services. This is one of my favorite features.
Regarding the security options, they seem to run excellent. Many security apps use quite a bit of resources on the machine. This seems to have a small footprint and does not affect the system. One of the best security tools is the anti-fishing tool. Fishing is one the prime ways that systems get affected. This tool really assists in keeping you aware of threats.
The thing with this type of software is it's working best when you don't have to interact with it much. So far I havent had to do much with the software which is a good thing.
Pricing is fair with around $60 per year. This appears to be worth the investment.

I may be one of the rare people that remembers when anti virus programs where a norm especially in the 2000s. Nowadays most tech savvy certainly don't need it, but sometimes you run into something useful like a VPN.
VPN works great across all devices and speeds remain optimal though may struggle if you really push it.
Now does this help keep you safe? If you're prone to clicking shady links, yes. But everyone else who is tech savvy doesn't really need it. Its also not nice to RAM - As soon as I launched a game the program was taking up 500MB.
I ended up uninstalling that aspect. Will use the VPN across all my devices which I'm sure will come in handy. There are other subscriptions from BitFender if you need less so make sure you pick the right product.
Software on Android while simple and to the point doesn't have the option to see your PC settings / copy merge. Overall too bland.
Maybe more focused IT people in this department will tell you more, but for me it passes as practical with minimal annoyance.
