Amazingly simple self custody solution. If you’re Bitcoin only and don’t love the idea of losing your keys, do yourself a favor and research Bitkey.

It's pretty nice and secure. Many protections that the app shows you. I was having a difficult time figuring out how to transfer funds from another app. It wasn't transferring funds it was a new purchase which I thought was weird. I didn't really need the extra security honestly.

Bitkey is super fast & easy to set up! It took about 5 mins tops to set up I was extremely surprised how quick and painless it was to figure out. I just wish the private key was not stored in 3 locations, but other than that I would definitely recommend this for beginners tapping into the bitcoin network.

Hey tech enthusiasts! I've been testing out the new Bitkey Bitcoin Hardware Wallet, and I've got to say - it's pretty impressive. Right out of the box, you can tell this isn't your average crypto wallet. It's got this cool hexagonal shape with a unique stone-like face, and feels really solid when you handle it. At $150, it's definitely in the premium range, but you can tell they didn't cut any corners on build quality. What really caught my attention is how they've simplified the whole Bitcoin security thing. Instead of dealing with those crazy-long seed phrases that nobody can remember, Bitkey uses a three-way security setup between the device itself, your phone, and Block's servers. It's like having a safety net for your Bitcoin - you need any two of these three elements to access your funds. Setting it up was a breeze. Just scan a QR code to get the app, enable NFC on your phone, set up your fingerprint, and you're good to go. The app itself is super clean and easy to navigate. Plus, if you're using Coinbase or Cash App, moving your Bitcoin around is surprisingly smooth. One feature I really liked is the customizable daily spending limit. It's like having a digital wallet that you can actually use without jumping through hoops every time. And if you're worried about losing your phone or the wallet (we've all been there), they've got you covered with some solid recovery options. You can even set up a trusted contact as a backup plan - pretty smart thinking! Pros: - Feels premium and built to last - Super easy to set up and use - Fingerprint security is quick and reliable - Works great with popular crypto platforms - Really well-thought-out recovery options - NFC makes transfers quick and easy - Flexible spending limits for everyday use Cons: - Only works with Bitcoin (sorry, alt-coin fans) - No screen on the device itself - Depends on Block's servers (might bug some privacy purists) - Pricier than some other options out there Here's the bottom line: If you're mainly into Bitcoin and want something that's secure but doesn't require a computer science degree to figure out, the Bitkey is totally worth checking out. Sure, it's a bit pricey, and you can't use it for other cryptocurrencies, but what it does, it does really well. It's especially great if you're just getting into crypto and want something that won't give you a headache to use. Recommendation: For Bitcoin users who want something secure but user-friendly, I'd definitely recommend giving the Bitkey a shot. It's particularly awesome for newcomers, but even experienced crypto folks will appreciate how smoothly everything works. Just keep in mind it's Bitcoin-only - if that works for you, you're going to love this thing.

It’s cool and definitely serves the science fiction aesthetic of how to secure otherwise other worldly treasures but with that being said, it’s purely just an aesthetic and that’s what you’re paying for so if you are a fan of it then that’s great but at least the technology behind it doesn’t seem to be thus far anymore advanced or special than any other particular cold storage wallet so I’ll let you know and update you if it seems to change

Bitkey is very unique and well designed Bitcoin hardware from Block, the company behind Square and Cash App. Self-custody of Bitcoin is fundamental in ensuring the security and ownership of your Bitcoin, ensuring you control the keys and ultimately the Bitcoin held within. As is common mantra, “not your keys, not your Bitcoin”, being a self-custodian of your keys is not to be taken lightly as mismanagement of the keys could result in losing access to your Bitcoin. Many wallets on the market offer the security of storing the private keys on a secure device but many people will still find the process overwhelming. In addition, self management of the wallet and recovery phrase leaves room for error, possibly locking you out of your funds permanently. Enter Block and their innovative approach with a unique multi-sig wallet, the Bitkey. Bitkey is more than just a hardware wallet but a solution to the inherent risks of self custody, offering a secure way to store Bitcoin for practically everyone. The Bitkey solution is comprised of a hardware device, mobile app, and Block servers; each with their own key which comprises the multi-signature aspect of their wallet. You need 2 of the 3 keys to sign a transaction, one of which is stored with Block and the other 2 are under your control. You also have the option to set a spending limit where by you can sign transactions below a threshold using only your phone key and the key on Block servers for convenience. Large transfers over your set amount will still require the Bitkey device, which is a unique approach to multi-sig. With the importance of the key stored on the Bitkey device, Bitkey has also planned for recovery through different mechanisms such as Social Recovery through a trusted contact or key rotation + delay and notify to setup a new hardware device, new mobile phone, or even both. Block has really covered all bases and developed a solid solution for self-custody with a trusted partner. You do have to put some trust in Block, but they have released all source code from the firmware on the device to the software used in the mobile app and server, they are very open about their solution which is reassuring. The device itself is quite a bit different than other Bitcoin wallets in that there is no screen, it is completely wireless, and it incorporates a finger print reader for verification. The Bitkey is by far the most premium Bitcoin wallet I have held, featuring a rounded hexagonal shape which resembles a three-dimensional block that feels great in your hand. The meticulously designed Bitkeys have their own unique finish to the Corian body of the device with a tasteful gold anodized steel back, which provides a durable finish as well as nice amount of weight. There is a single USB C port for charging only, as the Bitkey communicates directly with the app on your phone via NFC. So far battery life is great, I don’t imagine needing to charge it for several months even with frequent use. Being able to use your phone is a huge plus for me, as I feel their model is secure enough to integrate with my phone without worry. Setup was an absolute breeze, I had the wallet setup and ready to transfer in less than 5 minutes. It is crazy how simple they have made the process. The app is well designed and makes it incredibly simple to setup fingerprints, create backups, trusted contacts, and even purchase Bitcoin. You do have the option to link exchanges but it is not necessary to transfer Bitcoin to or from the wallet. Currently, Block has partnered with Coinbase, Robinhood, MoonPay, Blockchain, and naturally Cash App. They even provide realtime estimation of how much Bitcoin you would net after each service subtracts their fees, making it easy to compare and pick the best option. I was initially quite skeptical of the idea of Bitkey, but after reading their blogs and learning more about their solution and mission I feel this is a really great device for mass adoption. For some, this may be more of a warm wallet but for most people out there this is a perfect solution to offloading your Bitcoin investment off exchanges for safe storage and peace of mind.

I’m a bit on the fence on Bitkey. I do like the concept, but I believe it could be done better. Also, I had a bit of trouble getting the Bitkey to be found by my phone. Took a while and many tries holding it to the back of my phone. I will say it’s incredibly well built.

I own and have used a variety of crypto offline/cold wallets. Nearly every other one I have used requires you to install software on your computer (macOS or Windows) to setup and use, and even if they have mobile support - you can't setup mobile without a computer first. The Bitkey is the FIRST and ONLY crypto cold wallet I have used that is 100% mobile native. In the box - BitKey Wallet - USB A to USB C cable - Instruction Leaflet FYI. This comes in a very discrete brown box. If you get it shipped, like I did, the address label is stuck on the box and it's actually the packaging. So open the box with tear pull, don't just attack it with scissors! First Impressions The hexagonal shape, marble-effect pattern, weight, and gold rimmed finger print reader make the Bitkey feel premium. Setup Setup of the Bitkey is incredibly easy. The Bitkey iOS app is free. After ensuring the Bitkey is charged, the app walks you through recording a fingerprint, you connect the wallet to your phone (in my case iPhone) via NFC and you're done. There are additional steps to add a recovery email that is validated, but there's no other registration or passphrases. I was prompted for a firmware update. The Bitkey app is easy to use, intuitive, and well thought through. This includes being able to set transfer limits without the need for the app, if you you happen to want or need to do regular transfers. Not something I do, but nice to know in case you don't want to carry the Bitkey with you everywhere. You can add additional fingerprints and also a Trusted Contact for recovery. The Trusted Contact can aid with recovery. You can also add a SMS recovery, but I wouldn't do SMS given the risk of SIM swap attacks. Buying and transfering to the Bitkey wallet is easy. There's direct integration into Coinbase and others for buying coins. You can also buy anywhere outside of the app and transfer to the wallet directly. It my tests, transfers were relatively fast and always seamless. Pros 100% Mobile, no Computer Required Easy Setup - it just works! Integrates with popular wallets for buying (Coinbase, Moonpay, Cash) No Bitkey fee on on purchases No mechanical buttons or touch screen that can get scratched/damaged Cons Bitcoin only - at least as Pocketable but not super portable. This requires an explanation though. As I have mixed views of USB sized/form factor cold wallets. The Bitkey is clearly something you connect to a computer but no one would accidentally stick it into a PC and try and format over it if they found it. Like all cold wallets - you have to hope that the manufacturer and developer will be around for the long term. Unsure - Battery Life I'm just not sure how long the battery lasts. Since it's not Bluetooth, there's no screen, etc. I imagine the battery would last months maybe even years. But there's no real way I can test. The app shows battery life still at 100% after a few days. Verdict If you're 100% in the Bitcoin ecosystem (not using ETH etc) the Bitkey is a great cold wallet. The fact that it's 100% mobile app based makes it better than other wallets and the fact it uses NFC (not USB C) to connect to your phone is even better.

I’ve used a ton of crypto hardware wallets from all the major players and this by fare is the most polished of all the products. It’s simple to use and focuses on doing one thing well, securing bitcoin, rather than doing a ton of other things. Setup is super easy. The app walks you through linking the Bitkey to your phone and adding a fingerprint to secure the device. You’ll also be asked to add a trusted contact which is key for wallet recovery, which is way different than other wallets. The most unique thing about this wallet is recovery, rather than having to save a random passphrase, Bitkey splits the key behind the scenes, part on your phone, part on your device and part on Blocks cloud. Two of these keys are required to interact on chain making it secure. But if you lose your phone or the Bitkey you can use a trusted contact to setup a new Bitkey and save your funds. I find this a really unique and great way to key funds safe without losing everything if you lose the device or passphrase. The app is super easy to use and works just like any other bitcoin wallet. It’s simple to receive, buy and send bitcoin in the app and interact on chain. Overall I’m very impressed with the polish of this wallet and will use it as my primary bitcoin wallet from now on.

To briefly sum up my thoughts, there are a lot of good things here. The wallet is well-built (with a nice, solid feel in the hand), very (very) easy to set up, focused on security, and is flexible/versatile enough to give you access to some large exchanges. It would be a good solution for many people, really lowering the barrier to entry for those just getting started with Bitcoin. Being able to easily move funds is another really nice add here, again, taking a lot of friction out of the entire process. That said, I do think even those already entrenched in the crypto world would like this wallet. Further, I like that it comes from Block (formally known as Square). Given how wild this space has been, knowing that a trusted name in the industry is behind it gives me peace of mind. Lastly, this is clearly a personal thing, but I just do not like the look. As I mentioned, the build itself is quite good, but I do not like the shape (sort of the size as a result), styling, or color. I would have preferred a matte black, plain, boring, little rectangle. No dig to the product or what it does, just something to note. All in all, i think this is a very solid wallet, I like it, and I think it would work for most people.
