A different kind of horse movie

This movie is about the love of a boy for a horse and the story takes a path that spans over several continents, ultimately ending up on Mickey Rooney's farm. One might say that the boy and the horse have a symbiotic relationship which grows over the course of the movie. A bit slow at first, but the movie ends in a glorious crescendo. Great for kids of all ages.
