Blackberry KEYone has been a great experience

I made the move from IPhone to Android with buying the KEYone from BestBuy. I had an IPhone 6 that Apple admittedly slowed down claiming battery issues. In addition, the iPhone 6 could not handle my enterprise Blackberry Work email app due to the size of the working file. I held off from buying the KEYone until this 4GB RAM with 64 GB storage version was available. I bought an additional 64 GB micro storage card from BestBuy for storing my music, various type of documents, audio book files and other items. It has been a learning curve for changing to Android like it would be for starting to use any new operating system. But, it has been getting easier in a short period of time. In summary, the Android operating system allows much more flexibility than IOS and is just as powerful in my opinion. I really have enjoyed using the BlackBerry KEYone. It has been one of the best decisions in making the purchase through BestBuy. It is an unlocked phone that I use with AT&T. It was an easy setup process at the local AT&T store for them to install a new sim card and transfer information from my iPhone 6. This model of the KEYone with 4 GB Ram and 64 GB Storage was not available at AT&T when I purchased my phone in early March 2018 since they carried the older version of the phone. Here are the main features I like the most about the KEYone that have convinced me to make this phone my daily driver and may help you consider jumping onboard as well: 1. Typing on the keyboard works great and it reminds me of the first couple of BlackBerry's I used quite a few years ago. It also provides predictive words that can be swiped into your messages by swiping your finger up through the keyboard for the word you were about type in most cases. It is fast and accurate as opposed to the frustrations in typing on an electronic keyboard. 2. The Android operating system has been surprisingly powerful as compared to IOS and it is certainly way ahead of BB10 that I remember using in the past. I found that Android is very intuitive than IOS when using some of the app functions that has made it more satisfying than using IOS in many cases. 3. The phone has a great fingerprint reader that allows you to not only open the phone but, it allows you to open many other apps as opposed to entering your user name and password each time. It is a time saver along with giving you a sense of security while getting to where you want to be quicker. You can even set your fingerprint reader for more than one thumb that comes in handy when you are holding the phone with one hand or the other. 4. The keyboard has numerous shortcut options to get to the app or function you want to get to quickly. It has been a sense of satisfaction for being able to be highly productive when using them. Also, there is the convenience key that allows up to 3 different apps to be readily available when you need them. Many reviews have complained about the location of the convenience key. I have hit the key by accident quite a few times but, it doesn’t cause any problems and a quick click again allows you to move forward with your next step. These features are great if you like to be highly efficient and productive. 5. The battery life is everything that I read about on many reviews. I am shocked to see how much battery life is remaining at the end of the day. The least it has been under heavy usage is about 25% into the evening. It usually is around 40% for normal usage. I have really enjoyed knowing I have power to spare. 6. For Enterprise users like myself, the BlackBerry Work and Access apps works very well with the KEYone. You can even use your fingerprint reader to open the BB Work app. You won’t find yourself disappointed in the performance of the KEYone that works complimentary with the BlackBerry Enterprise apps. These apps are for enterprise users for their email and internal website access that provide the security needed for those organizations. 7. The BlackBerry HUB saves me a lot of time to view my personal email, texts and phone call activities in one place. I still use the Gmail app for my Gmail account that has the added convenience of saving items directly to your Google Drive account. One of my favorite features of the HUB is using the dark theme that provides a black background with white letters that is much easier to read and prevents eye fatigue. There are a few other Android apps that allow a dark theme as well that I really appreciate. 8. The phone speaker has been loud and clear unlike what I have seen other reviews regarding concerns over the phone having one speaker. Quite frankly, you need to have an external Bluetooth speaker for hearing any real music quality from any phone. Also, the KEYone works well with my car’s Uconnect panel for Bluetooth audio and phone usage. 9. I have found viewing videos on the KEYone having great quality and adequate for my needs. I have seen some reviews comment about the smaller size not being the best experience. I guess you would have to determine that for your own needs. I don’t spend a lot of time viewing videos or gaming on my phone. I use Chromecast for any extended video viewing through my phone that you can get at BestBuy as well. 10. I believe the KEYone sells at a fair price especially as compared to many new phone releases whether it is an Android or iPhone. With the price being recently reduced to $549.99 by BestBuy, it is a great buy in my opinion. I purchased the BestBuy Geek Squad warranty for extra protection since this is a new experience for me. I know the KEYone does not have the newest powerful features of higher priced Android phones. But, the KEYone is still a very powerful phone with the features offered and it is unique with a keyboard. I believe the 4GB Ram on the KEYone that is a difference maker when it comes to phone performance that meets my expectations. If you like the idea of using a keyboard on your phone with the flexibility of Android, I would recommend you buy a KEYone. By the way, I wrote this review on my KEYone with the Word app.

I upgraded my BlackBerry Classic with the KeyOne. I love it!!! No learning curve and it still has the actual keyboard that BlackBerry is famous for. It has a long battery life, takes great pictures and has a perfect screen size. Great purchase!!!

A big fan of the BlackBerry KeyOne. It is one the most secure phones in the market!!! If you truly want phone security go with the BlackBerry KeyOne! It has a privacy mode that puts a spotlight on only what we are reading and blacks out the rest of the details on your screen. Fantastic feature in crowded venues. Operating features are great. Easy to use now that it is on a android platform. A feature that is missing that hopefully they bring back on future phones is the pointer. If it had the pointer this would have been a 5 star review.

I cannot use this phone on a regular basis! It does some pretty scary privacy stuff! I do not want a phone that lets me know that it knows that I just left the store or got out of my car! I tried fixing the privacy settings, but it still likes to invade my privacy! I cannot return this thing because it starting [conveniently for Google] doing this stuff after the return deadline! I just removed the SIM and put in the drawer to use as a spare! The worst part: I could have bought a new iPhone (which respects your privacy) for what I paid for this government flunky programmed (Google) device! What attracted me to this phone was the physical keyboard (I have short stubby fingers) and the screen size. I miss RIM Blackberry. :(

Good phone with a keypad. The reason for the four stars is the screen has shrunk to accommodate the keyboard. Otherwise it is a fine phone. Love the hub feature

It's ridiculous that best buy charges a restocking fee. I really wanted the phone but I returned it because it had a scratch on the phone. If a phone is brand new why would it have any flaws? I've had the silver one, the phone is beautiful but hopefully the site is honest about new vs. refurbished

I purchased the phone 3/2018 for $549. I really like the phone. I switched from the BlackBerry PRIV and wanted a slate with a keyboard. Having a finger print sensor now is awesome. BB's password keeper, HUB, and other suite of apps really makes this phone great. I got my wife the BlackBerry Motion and really like that phone as well.

Happy long-term iPhone user switched to Android

I have been a smartphone addict back from the days of Palm Treo phones. When the iPhone came out, I was in line the very first day to get the first iPhone and have used them (happily) until the last few years. I began to feel like the iPhone wasn't doing much more for me over the years, and I was getting annoyed with the lack of progress. I tried a Moto Android phone and didn't like it, but when I saw this Blackberry KeyOne I gave it a try. My first KeyOne was a silver (3GB RAM) model for Sprint. I loved the phone, but constantly had to manage my open applications to make sure I didn't run out of memory, and the Sprint-installed apps were not good. I purchased the KeyOne BLACK edition (4GB RAM) and found it was better in every way. If you are torn between the standard Silver edition and the Black edition, I really feel it is worth the extra cost to get the black one with extra RAM. I actually like the way the silver one looks, but the Black Edition works much better! (I am puzzled, because I read a few reviews on professional tech sites that said the extra gig of ram didn't seem to make a difference for them ... my only guess is that perhaps they didn't use it as their main phone. The standard model got bogged down pretty easily if you switched between apps and used it throughout the day, but the Black Edition does not have that problem.) I had to switch carriers to a GSM carrier (I chose AT&T) to use this phone since it does not work with CDMA carriers like Sprint or Verizon, but activation was easy and service has been good. I don't really use the included Blackberry apps, but the phone itself and the keyboard are fantastic. It is super convenient to be able to set a quick launch key from the homescreen for any app or action you want. The fingerprint sensor works well, and the phone is very fast for everything I have tried using it for, including Google Assistant and Android Auto. The camera is nowhere near as good as the iPhone 8+ that I had before - but it is OK. I would say it is more like an iPhone 5S camera as far as the speed and quality of photos. For instance, people and pets must be COMPLETELY still if it is not really bright or you will get a blurry picture. It also seems to underexpose a lot of pictures, resulting in dark faces on the people you take pictures of. The front facing selfie camera is fine - nothing to complain about, but nothing to be excited about. I really like the customization offered on this phone, the fantastic keyboard, and all the shortcuts and command keys. If you are all about social media and excellent photography, I wouldn't suggest this phone for you. If you're more about texts/emails/calls/browsing the web, this phone might be a great fit for you.

After getting my first replacement for screengate (the screen was not affixed to the phone, known design flaw), a patch they provided stopped all bluetooth and wifi functionality. Every time I open a ticket, it takes them weeks to respond, causing cases to last for months. Pathetic support, pathetic updates, pathetic blackberry
