It always wants to update something which in tails drains the battery. It does lock up and you have to remove the battery to be able to use phone (usually once a week) It is way to heavy, a lot heavier then my previous Blackberry. As soon as I am able I will go back to Blackberry Bold.

There have been many issues with the Torch 9800 freezing up and having to wait 30 seconds to 2-4 minutes to unfreeze. Really irritating if you need to make or take a call and the phone freezes up.Wait for the Torch 2 in August.I know 5 people who have the same issues with the 9800 and even an AT&T Store employee who swapped into another phone because of the freezing issues.
I am waiting to here a news report about a person not being able to call 911 on a frozen Torch and being hurt or wores due to these issues.
Google : torch 9800 freezing
PS- I am on my 3rd Torch and waiting till my contract is up in December.

After all of the rave reviews my friends gave of their Blackberry devices I decided to jump into the fray and get one for myself. Unfortunately the Torch is a cheaply made slider phone with a buggy OS. I have had frequent lockups, phone turns connections off, pocket dials, keyboard will not stay locked, slider is now very sloppy, and the paint falls off if you look at it too hard. All in all this phone was not worth getting for free for the 2 year extension of my contract. Strongly suggest you avoid this piece of junk.
