A fitting tribute to the Man of a Thousand Faces! His presence amongst us humans will forever be in shrined with this album. If you appreciated Mr. Jones over the decades as I have will agree. If you don't know or are familiar with his works, then perhaps then Taylor Swift, Adele or Justin Beiber are what you really want. For the rest of us, let us take solace in this work that we were right all along!!!

    A Heartbreaking Farewell

Sadly this year was off to a terrible start with the passing of one of my longtime favorite artists, David Bowie. Gratefully though he left us with a strange and somber masterpiece of an album to remember him with. From the opening Blackstar to the song that was used for his last music video Lazarus this is just a perfect album and a heartbreaking listen for any Bowie fan that I can't recommend enough.

This is a really good CD. It's dark, romantic, and very experimental. He really left us with something good. He does some good singing. The music varies throughout the whole listen. It feels like a soundtrack CD to his life and death. Glad that I didn't pass this one up. I wished it would've had more songs on it. Too bad that it's his last. I admired this man and respected him. I will miss him. Bravo!

When one loves an artist's body of work any new release will get you excited. Sometimes you are let down but when expectations are wildly exceeded it is thrilling. Bowie may have put more into Blackstar because he knew it would be his final statement, but that doesn't matter. This is one of his best. Thank you David.

Each of his material is different from the next. No exception here, but now the public in some way may understand a bit better as he was terminally ill when putting together and recording this release. It's cool, it's touching, it's Bowie. Not a rock records as with others, and that's fine. The musicians are seriously talented. Must have for any real Bowie fan. Goodbye old friend.

    Art That Will Never Die

Like the star that is at the head of a christmas tree, David Bowie's Black Star will now remain at the top, and all the other unique and individual ornament/albums that adorn the musical tree below will be re examined. There will never be another star that will radiate light in so many different colors. I have thought about him every single day since that very sad day.

david bowie has been a part of my life since 1972. his concerts were mind-blowing, and it is tough to lose such a great talent. altho' i haven't been a lover of all of his work, he continually put out new and innovative music and videos. this album seems like a mixture of his past and present. it is good and it is bad. but in either case, he will be missed.

Blackstar is a dark masterpiece that twists and turns and ends on a melancholy note. I purchased this on its release date two days before Bowie died and little did I (or any other fan) realize that this would be his last offering to us. There is a huge void in the world without David Bowie. Blackstar underscores this void as a brilliant musical farewell.

On a scale of 1-10, This Bowie album scores about a "7" for me. Certainly not as classic as "Diamond Dogs" or "Station to Station". That being said, it's got all the elements that you'd expect from a Bowie album. What I find MORE interesting, is that he made this album knowing he'd be gone soon. And the videos are eerie...but would you expect any less from the "Thin white duke"? RIP David bowie, I'm glad you gave us this last one

I really enjoyed The Next Day and was anticipating this one. While it has a few moments that stick with you, it isn't nearly as accessible as The Next Day. I think Bowie sounds in fine form here despite his passing not long after recording Blackstar but this is a challenging album. It will likely grow as time passes and people move on from the immediate loss upon release. For now this album only feels like an epitaph.

Bowie ended his recording career on a high note. This album is at least as strong as his last couple. A little "artsy," but very enjoyable. This album is a "grower" - it takes a few listens before it really sinks in. Definitely worth picking up. Then again, I bought Bowie's stuff religiously, so I wouldn't have missed this one anyway.

I was anticipating the release of this album because I am a huge fan. After seeing the videos for Blackstar and Lazarus, I was eager to hear the rest of the album. It became even more significant with his passing two days after the release. It became apparent after listening that he knew the end was near. His voice will be missed .

Blackstar, by David Bowie, was truly a gift from an artist that left the world at a young age. The title track absolutely knocked me out musically. The third track on the album, Lazarus, was also great, but this time it was the lyrics that stole the show. I highly recommend this piece of artistry as a going away gift fom Bowie.

I was so glad when I saw the "Blackstar" music video because I figured we were moving into the next great stage of Bowie's career. Instead it was his final chapter. Instead of doing some sort of retrospective album, he decided to go out guns blazing. As a bonus the CD packaging is insane and worth the price of admission alone.

I bought this album the day it was released. David Bowie was also alive at the time. I didn't open or listen to it until after he passed. The album definitely hit me where it hurts, left me sad and wanting more from this talented artist. It's a very good album that every Bowie fan needs to hear and purchase. I still wish we could get more music from him, but this album is a very satisfying farewell.

When I heard that David Bowie had a CD released just before his death, my first thought was to buy the CD. The second thought that entered my mind was where to buy the CD. The answer, Best Buy. I can ALWAYS count on Best Buy to have just what I need. Be it music CD's, videos, or any electronics or computers, Best Buy

Absolutely beautiful and deep. David Bowie left us a magnificent and artful collection of songs in this album. Until the end, this man really came at his work with passion and honesty. This is the kind of work that makes me feel proud to have shared time in this world with great artists like David Bowie.

Bowie's last album - typically quirky, wonderful

Bowie's last album, written while he was dying from cancer. He was a control freak right thru the end. We should have known, when Major Tom was found dead in the video, that Bowie was dying. The music is very surreal at times, the words puzzling, but that's Bowie. It was his perfect way to say goodbye.

I'm a long time Bowie fan, I'd been anticipating this album, and now I'm grateful for the farewell messages it contains. Blackstar is an explosion of musical ideas, as if Bowie was rushing to create as fast as he could, and the price is right for the seven tracks. Buy this album before the record companies start cashing in on rough demos and more greatest hits packages.

A Goodbye Letter Like No Other

Part of David Bowie's musical genius was his ability to keep his audience completely unaware of what was going on behind the scenes, and in perfect form, Black Star toys with the listener in ways that wouldn't be revealed until two days after its release to the world and David's release from it.
