Great cd. Sad given the news though. . . It's a sad cd made by a man who knew his time was short. It's a powerful statement to go out with.

The Last Album from the Always Experimental On-the-Cutting-Edge David Bowie. Interesting album that grows on you with repeated listenings.

I listened to this album before Bowie died; I loved it then. Listening to it afterwards, I think it's one of the very best of his career.

This review comes with the bias of a hardcore Bowie fan and someone still with a sense a mourning... but it's still a phenomenal album.

Coming so close to his death adds deeper weight and brevity to this release. Not what I expected, but somehow appropriate and eerily poignant - especially in subsequent listens.

What can you say about an album like this? Bowie wowed us over the years with his ever changing music, and as a final farewell made this as a parting gift to his fans. While all the tracks are good and what fans have come to expect from Bowie, "Lazarus" and the title track "black star" stand out. "Black star" is a jazz fusion mystical song with all the things that we've come to expect from Bowie. Chanting, mysticism, and all those other things that are just so "Bowie". But then, he stuck what could be a stand alone song into it explaining what he was and why, and basically saying that someone else would quickly replace him as "the black star". I don't think he realized that his shoes would be harder to fill. "Lazarus" is a song that deals with his life, his feelings on the end coming quickly, and the effects of the medical treatments during the making of this last goodbye. I mean what else can I say? If you are a new Bowie fan, or have been for many, many years, this is a must have addition to your collection. Rest in peace, Black Star, it's almost been a year since your death and you're still very much missed by so many people

What can I say… David Bowie's last musical masterpiece happened to go on sale the weekend of his passing. His music is forever!

Bowie has once again given us a gem. His music is, as always, innovative. He continued to explore new horizons to the very end.

A great last recording of original material for David Bowie. I had to great fortune to see him live in 1978 in Chicago, IL.

Great cd from a legend. If you get this to reminisce Bowie of old you will be disappointed. It's a very dark album.

This is another great Bowie album. It moves a little more seamlessly than I think others of his does. Worth to buy.
