I picked this up because it was always being mentioned how good the video quality was. Well, although it wasn’t quite as crisp as I would have liked, it’s still very clean and sharp. As for the movie itself, I loved it! I felt like I “checked out” for almost 3 hours, and escaped life for a bit. It was a wonderful experience. The story, cinematography, and feel of this movie blew me away. It was visually stunning. The music soundtrack was also equally impressive. Highly recommend this movie!

Man, WHAT A SEQUEL. Who would’ve thought a sequel could be this good, and in 4k? Can’t beat it. Would’ve been better with a digital code, but still a great deal

A worthy sequel to the original Blade Runner. The cinematography is stunning, and the soundtrack will blow you away when played through a great multi-channel system. The story is cohesive, with a surprising ending. I also recommend viewing the deleted, and related videos on You Tube as it will enhance the film's story.

I have been waiting for this to come out on Blu-Ray since it was stunning in the theatre. Saw it on sale at Best Buy, and couldn't wait to get it home. Holds up pretty well on my small screen here at the house. Have watched it several times. It captures the essence of Ridley Scott's 1982 classic. Glad to have it.

-Feature: Finally got around to it last night & really enjoyed this sequel. Great continuation to the storyline. Like how they used the least amount of CGI to make it look authentic. Love that a great movie doesn’t have to be overstimulated with action. Had me locked in the entire time despite being 2 1/2 hours. Just the idea to see another one being made after 35 years & have the main star return is mind blowing. I could go on but trying to keep it shorter. A must own sequel for many factors. Pros: Sound; definitely an Atmos reference demo! Not rich in details like the first one but big & full dynamic. Some use of overhead but not heavy like the first one. The sound, visuals inside the movie & of course the movie itself is the highlights! Cons: -3D; Poor level. Only time you noticed it was during the snow & a fire specs scene. -Digital Copy; No (biggest disappointment to order for that reason too only to get a copy w/out it. Called support only to get transferred 3x, 2 hours on the phone, them not wanting to acknowledge the screw up on their end by attaching a deceiving photo of the actual product only to get hung up on & end up not with the correct copy I purchased. Hence my one star in hopes they take notice. Do NOT sell something you don’t have if that is why I didn’t receive the copy on listing) -Slipcover; No. -Gear used for sound & visuals: LG 65’ C6P 4k/3D passive OLED (manually calibrated) 9.2 Onkyo RZ + pre amp for 7.2.4/11.2 (integrated calibrated then manually tweeted with SPL sound level meter & balance/adjust for full dynamic range) Klipsch Reference Premier towers center sides rears dual R112SW subs Polk Audio MC80 8’ quad in-ceiling heights Oppo 4K UDP-203 Monster cables: Premium Black Platinum HDR HDMIs, THX Audio RCA, Digital Subwoofer Cables & Fiber Optic Ultra 1000 Monoprice 14 gauge awg copper speaker wire Nakamichi Speaker Plugs Auralex Acoustic Isolation platforms

This re-make is about as good as you can expect for a movie that was so good the first go round. It's a lot better than I expected it to be, but once I saw how good it is, I figured I'd purchase it for my 4K/ 1080p blu ray disc collection. Now... I'm not gonna try to be a film critic, I'll leave that up to the folks that get paid the big bucks to do it, but I will talk about what I can talk about, and that's the picture and sound quality, and I'm literally amazed at how good the picture and sound quality, is on this disc. I'm using a TCL 5 series tv, a Sony 4K X800M2 player for video, and I'm using a Klipsch Cinema 400 soundbar for audio, and it's like my bedroom is a theater. The vivid coloration, close to black ink colored black levels, bright highlights that make you squint at times...it looks good. Then I heard sounds from the Klipsch soundbar that I didn't hear from it when I first streamed this movie from Amazon Prime a while back. Then you add in deep, window trembling bass from the subwoofer... like I said...I love it. It comes with Dolby Atmos on the disc, but I can't speak about how that sounds, because I can't take advantage of it. I actually have a Vizio M series soundbar that has 2 separate side speakers with it, but I haven't ever used it, because my nephew bought a Vizio 2.1 speaker, and he says that people on his street are playing their music through his soundbar!( I bought mine before he told me that) So now I'm scared to go through the trouble of hooking my Vizio soundbar up, just to have to take everything loose when it happens to me, and the Klipsch is doing a good job, even though it's a 2.1 system. But judging by how much detailed sound you still get from the 4K player downmix, I'm totally satisfied. Now... I don't know how good the 4K version looks (I guess it's better than the 1080p version) but the 1080p blu ray version looks and sounds so good, I'll just say "I'm ok with what I have".

Blade Runner 2049 (2017) is an acquired taste, but once you get past its slow start and pacing, you’ll be riveted on its very intriguing and unique storyline. I say this because it’s extremely slow-moving, and for those who appreciate its pacing with a payoff at the end, then this film is for you. As a stand-alone film, it’s 5 stars. While I still prefer the 1982 film, this sequel can hold its own, because it’s inevitably a different film in a different era of filmmaking. I tend to dislike CGI and the bloated budgets of today, but this is a visual feast with a slow-burning plot. I will add that the sound effects are some of the best I’ve ever experienced in a film; they really create a mood and set a tone. The film really pays homage to the film noirs of the 1940’s and 50’s with all of the classic lighting and other elements of film noir. The special effects are second to none, and come across as showy, but still relevant. I give the director a lot of credit for not ‘selling out’ with this long-awaited sequel. He could’ve easily made this film fast-paced and consistent with the speed of films these days, such as the Star Trek reboots. I give him props for not succumbing to the pressures of wanting to appeal to a wider audience. I think this film came up short in money grossed because the younger crowd isn’t all that familiar with the Blade Runner canon, coupled with the fact that most people want something faster-moving these days. I think this film challenges those with short attention spans, which is a great thing, because if you get through it, you will most likely appreciate it as something refreshingly different in a fast-paced world. Overall, Blade Runner 2049 is a worthy sequel to a classic of American cinema, Blade Runner. The blu ray is really something special, with lots of special features that are interesting. Perhaps I will update this review after a few more viewings.

When I first saw the original Blade Runner back when I was a kid I admit to not liking the movie very much. I attribute this to my being too young to really grasp the meaning of the movie but after seeing it years later and many times between now and then I learned to appreciate what a good movie it was/is. I kind of had the same reaction to BR 2049. I was worried initially when I heard they were making a sequel to BR. I didn't feel a sequel was necessary. And when I left the theater I was kind of lukewarm to the movie. I thought it was good but not great. After buying the Blu-ray and watching the movie a few more times I now realize that is a spectacular piece of film-making. The movie does a great job of recreating the feel of the original. The color palette, the music, everything feels like it is a continuation of the original story. The acting in the movie is fantastic. My favorite character is Luv. The replicant right hand of the film's villian Wallace. Sylvia Hoeks' performance is phenomenal. All in all this is a great movie. If you like Sci/Fi that makes you think then this is the movie for you. No it is not action packed but neither was the original. The action it does have is very good. This disc is pure 4k demo material. Bright vibrant colors and outstanding sound design.

Blade Runner 2049 is a visually stunning film that deserves to be seen in 4k. The 4k transfer is flawless, with incredible detail, contrast, and color. The HDR enhances the dark and neon-lit scenes, while the WCG brings out the rich and varied hues. The 4k Blu-ray is the best way to experience this sci-fi masterpiece

    A True Masterpiece

I should first say I own Blade Runner 2049 on 4K UHD and would unequivocally say that the 4K version the best way to watch it. I should also say that there are very few films I feel the need to desire to also own on 3D. BR 2049 is such an amazingly beautiful and well shot masterpiece that the 3D presentation is well worth it. Yes, many of the scenes don’t really pop, but in the bigger action sequences and especially in the city and landscape sequences, the 3D really blows you away!! I wouldn’t say it hugely advances the film, but if you’re a fan of in-Home 3D movies and want something visually captivating, this is a great title to add to your 3D collection. If you have the choice though for only one version, I would most highly recommend the 4K edition.

Blade Runner 2049 is a stunning work of art. Bold, visionary, and thought-provoking. When I first heard of the plan to make a sequel, I had serious doubts. Yet instead of being a pointless "Hollywood" strip-mining of the past, it manages to pay homage to the original without being a rehash and expands upon the world and ideas in fantastic ways. I was too young to see the original Blade Runner in theaters, but I feel like with Blade Runner 2049, I finally had the chance to know what that was like. Unlike many modern films, Blade Runner 2049 is not afraid to take its time; lingering on gorgeous shots and deliberately paced to let you soak it all in. So glad that movies like this are still being made. If you care about great sci-fi, you owe it to yourself to see (and own) this movie!

This sequel to the original classic film is a fitting continuation that matches the first movie in feel, tone, mood, and the simple but powerful plot. Director Villeneuve puts his signature stamp into it with his unique and imaginative interpretation of a dystopian future. Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling both give powerful performances. Jared Leto is, well, himself. This film is beautifully rendered in 4K HDR.

This is about as good as a sequel to Blade Runner as one could hope for. Is it is long? Yes. Is it slow and methodical in places? Yes. Doesn't that make it boring? Only if you think those qualities from the original were boring. If you didn't like the original or haven't seen the original, you likely won't enjoy your time here. Stylistically this is a gorgeous movie and one worth the 4K upgrade (if your set-up supports it). It's unfortunate that this movie didn't come out before the age of Marvel. In a different time, this could have been the blockbuster it deserved to be.

Great Video/picture in 4K, especially since it is shot in low light to intensify the theme and drama of the context!! The use of Atmos/Surround sound is used very well, especially in the scene with Bees swarming all around the listeners or viewers head.

I watched this in both HDR 10 and Dolby Vision and it looks great either way you go. Darks look very good and colors look bright and pop. Also mastered at 10,000 nit so highlights will pop if you have a TV that can output above 1,000 nits.
