Ahead of it's time

This is one of my all-time favorite movies, because it was so far ahead of it's time when it hit theaters and is still amazing even today. In fact, I think this movie should be re-released into theaters for a limited time. What made this movie so great? Well, everything really. The cinamotography ( filmed by Ridley Scott) was beautifully done and really captured well the overcongestion/over population of society, and especially what it has, or will do to the future. The story is great and at the time was very original. I can even see how this movie has inspired so many others along the same lines. You see this especially in many Anime films, such as Ghost in the Shell. It's also really nice to see Harrison Ford at such a young age, and he plays the "tough guy" role so well. The only complaint I had about this movie was the date in which it was set: 2019. It's not very likey that we will see, or hear, of androids who are so lifelike that they actually think they are really human. I personally would have set this movie around 2119.
This movie is not for everyone; people either love it like I do, or hate it. You have to be the kind of person who can appreaciate a slow paced, intelligent movie and great artistic photography combined to like Blade Runner. It's a movie for people who have a somber, lonely spirit I suppose. I also recomend watching this movie with a good brandy, whiskey, whatever you like, and at night in a dark room where no one will interrupt you. That's how I like to watch this movie.

Visually Breathtaking! A Masterpiece of SciFi Noir

Blade Runner is a film that has more power in its visual sense than the quality of its substance.. Even so, Blade Runner is a very important piece that borders on SciFi and Film Noir, which is very rare in the genre. Its visual style sets it apart from any film of the past or present. Ridley Scott averted a production disaster, with all the in-fighting going on between direction and production and created a visual master piece, equal in its strength with films such as 2001 A Space Odyssey or I Robot.
Blade Runners transfer to Blu-Ray is a marvel to look at! Colors and clarity are rivaled by none. Blacks are deep and action sequences remain clear as crystal! (Final Cut). The Dolby TrueHD Soundtrack is of reference Quality, blasting out the soundtrack and discrete sounds all in 5.1 surround sound.
This 5 disc set is a great buy, giving the viewer hours of enjoyment and a choice between an enhanced Final Cut or the Original Theatrical Cut or an interesting view at the Workprint, used in the editing of both versions.
I highly recommend this 5 disc set, with its reference quality visuals and sound. No other release in the Past can equal this Blu-Ray Collection..

Blade Runner is, simply put, one of the finest films ever made.
Blade Runner tells the story of Rick Deckard, a police officer assigned to terminate renegade androids. Along the way, the meaning of Humanity is explored and, in some versions of the film, we get some clues that Deckard may not be Human himself.
The story is brilliantly executed. The exploration of the characters Deckard (Harrison Ford) and Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) draws you in to a fantastic dystopian world of the near-future. This is not an action movie, but the kind of movie that makes you think. Blade Runner is always a great movie to watch, one that you can enjoy watching over and over again.
The High Defenition transfer is flawless! The details in every scene are rich and sharply defined. Any trace of the age of the film has been corrected and the Blu-Ray makes Blade Runner look crisp and brand new. This is the best I've ever seen Blade Runner look.
The extras contain some nice documentary features on the making of and the impact of Blade Runner. Most are on DVD (not in HD), but there are a few Hi-Def extras on the editing of the 'Final Cut' version of the film.
The 'Final Cut' version is my favorite, but whichever version you prefer, it's in this collection.
There are one or two scenes where the violence is a little too far over the top and the film has an 'R' rating, but I do not consider Blade Runner to be excessively violent.
Blade Runner is a true masterpiece and deserves a place of honor in any sci-fi fan's video library. And the Blu-Ray gives us Blade Runner as it was meant to be seen. Even if you have the DVD, this is well worth the upgrade.

Very well remastered. They definately put some time into cleaning this 1982 classic up. 5 disc collectors set includes Final Cut, Theatrical US, Theatrical International and the rare Workprint version. All versions in Full High Definition 1080p. 9 hours of special features. All in full 5.1 surround sound. This is the movie that was the base for all future Sci Fi movies for the look and feel to this very day. To name a few...Fifth Element, Matrix, and Total Recall. Must own Blueray if you like sci fi movies, enjoyed the original or a movie collector.

Great but not for the Special New cut...

I liked the fact there are 5 or so different cuts in this collection. They all look like they've been cleaned up and look great. I watched the newest cut - my brother pointed out that the originals in his opinion were better since they had Harrison Ford actually narrating what was going on. I popped in one of the original cuts - International Cut and wow its SO much better hearing Ford explain certain events in the movie rather then in the Directors & Latest cut where he just has a dumbfounded look on his face for several seconds.
They dont release the originals anymore and have not since the so-called Director's Cut. The originals are the best for me since you get a more in-depth background into the events surrounding Deckard Cain.

I was a huge fan of the original Blade Runner. I liked the voice over by Harrison Ford in the movie. But until now that original version was not available on DVD. I liked all versions, but there is still something so good and majestic in the first theatrical cut of the movie. This collection is a must for all Sci-Fi fans and especially now for all Blu-Ray owners. Save up if you need to, but go out and buy this set and sit back to enjoy it on your High-Def Tv and Blu-Ray player. You will not regret it !

Blade Runner looks great in blu-ray,especially for a film that is over 25 years old. The picture and sound are amazing in hd 1080p.The movie itself is awesome and 4 versions are incuded in the set. The only negative about the collector's edition is 2 of the 5 discs are only regular dvds. This is a must for any blu-ray collection.

I've loved this flic since first seeing it in a theater on base. This new Blu-ray disc will find a spot next to the VHS tape and various DVD editions in my collection. I now use it to demonstrate the difference in formats to my friends who are considering upgrading to BD.

THE GREATEST RESTORATION ON BLU RAY

I don't know how they made this look so good, it's too bad they can't make other films look this good. This is a masterpiece outside of some of the acting. I've never been a huge Harrison Ford fan, but I've had time to overcome that. A must own blu ray for any collector.

I bought this on Bluray because I had never seen it and read how amazing it looked. That is pretty accurate...it does look really good, especially for an older movie. However, the movie itself was just so-so. I've never seen it until now so it was great just to be able to watch Harrison Ford in his prime for the first time. And I must admit, it's fairly engaging. But, it's dated and little weird.

Visually Beautiful Bad Film

A fan of the original theatrical version, I was quite frustrated when Ridley Scott started feeling it was necessary to release several different cuts of the film, starting back in the early 1990's. Overbudget and indecisive, as has often been the case for many of his projects, Scott apparently lost control over the film at a certain point. Therefore, 'Blade Runner' is a visually beautiful film that is just a mess to make any sense of, even more so now that it has 5 different versions. However, there are lots of bonus features here to delight the fans who deserve much credit for sticking with this disaster of a movie for as long as they have.
