This is basically a domination based Anarchy Reins game for western players. Not bad, cool characters, but lack of content.

Apart from that, this games is so not worth the time and effort and money (thankfully only paid $5). Only 10 achievements; popped 6 or 7 after a few painful play sessions and quit. If... IF you're randomly(?) teamed up with 3 others (4 V 4) who work as a team (only had it happen a couple times) instead of everyone running off in their own direction with their own agenda, then it borders on fun. Mostly I was outnumbered and died often. Before respawning, however, you must watch a slow motion replay of your death. If you leave a match early for any reason (e.g. food, bathroom, rage), you will be paired with other "quitters" and earn no XP/credits for the next 3 rounds. Oh, did I mention there are only TWO game modes, both very similar. I could go on, but just like Bleeding Edge, I have better things to do.

    Online action brawler

I played Bleeding Edge at the E3 gaming expo in 2019 and I felt that there was something to having an ability based online melee multiplayer game. The released version makes good on that feeling. The game is dominated by melee abilities, support abilities, and attacks that enables the objective based matches where deterrence trumps a kill count. Depending on which character you play your role will vary between area denial, damage output, healing, or general defense and offense where the abilities and attacks/actions from each character benefit from the games pacing so that your almost using frames to determine what the opposing players are about to do for you and your team to respond and react accordingly. It's not a fighting game of course but the pace and character animations lend themselves to telegraphing these things to you. The game modes are also really well thought out in that it's not as simple as holding an objective like king of the hill or collecting things to deposit with a first to a score wins, there are twists to these formulas. In the objective capture mode akin to King of the Hill of other online games there are cool downs and location changes to which objectives must be taken and when with each cycle representing a different approach on defense and offense of said objective with all objectives being turned off in some instances to both prevent a snowball effect if a team is running away with the match and also as a chance for in game character swaps should the current team composition not be working for your (or the other) team. In the item collection mode the same twists exist with cycled zones to go and turn in with some fun differences where the turn-in pads are actually moving around the map depending on which turn-in pad is active. This also is different from the Objective based game mode in that if you or any of your teammates have any of the collectible items on them at the time where all the turn-in pads are off then it becomes a matter of keep away (and vice versa for the other team) because if you die with any of the items on you they are dropped to be collected again. The depth is also there aside from the modes and maps, the characters have a horizontal progression, you don't get stronger the more you play, instead you get more varied in what abilities you have and what you get to strengthen. As you level up a character you get modifiers for that character that changes how they play which then can be socketed into three available slots in any one "loadout". As you can tell, the fundamentals of a great online game are here however there are concerns. As of this writing the online stability is a problem, the game is currently experiencing lag spikes on occasion that prevents a player from really digging into the tells that are so important when seeing what is being telegraphed by the animations when a character is going to perform a move. The other shortcomings are related to the quantity of the maps you play on (currently only 5) and the number of game modes (currently only 2). This modes are great and because of their twists on the classic formulas actually feel fresh long into your sessions, however the map issue is magnified due to the feel that they all were designed with varying degrees of differences between them. Some maps are symmetrical and some aren't but overall they all feel like they play the same as far as sight lines, points of interest, and general flow. These concerns aside the game is a must for anyone looking for their next unique online game. The art direction is fresh, the music is awesome, the combat and modes have the learning curve that's worth while even if the maps are currently lacking and the online needs some work. Considering this is a Xbox first party title one can expect the shortcomings to be addressed rather quickly and when that does happen Bleeding Edge just may be a 5/5 game to play online.

got it on a deal. nothing great about this game. however, its easy playing and doesn't require much focus. so its good in that way. probably wouldn't buy it at retail price or recommend to someone to go out of their way to get this game. but a nice addition to my gaming library.

Bleeding Edge on Xbox One is just pure fun. It’s a tight, fast thrill-ride that keeps me playing which, as someone who predominantly plays single-player, is not easy to do. While it certainly isn’t what some fans of Ninja Theory may be expecting, it is still a great first collaboration from what will likely be one of Xbox Game Studios’ finest teams.
