Who would have ever thought that Accept would be one of the best metal bands over the last five years? Exit Udo Dirkschneider after a brief reunion in 2005 and enter Mark Tornillo after four years of inactivity. For those of you who don't know Mark, he played with T.T Quick, who were one of the first that signed with Jon Zazula's Megaforce records in 1983 (I.E Metallica, Anthrax, Raven and OverKill).
"Blind Rage" (2014) is the third album, in what has been a wonderful trilogy of Accept albums with Mark Tornillo. Though I prefer both "Blood of the Nations" (2010) and "Stalingrad" (2012), "Blind Rage" holds its own, with its nice blend of break neck speed rockers like "Stampede", "Trail of Tears", "200 Years" and "Final Journey". Then you have that classic power metal sludgy/ballad type of tune like "Dark Side of My Heart", "Trail of Tears", "Wanna Be Free" and "From the Ashes We Rise". Though I do not mind the latter, I prefer the faster Accept songs and that is why "Blood of the Nations" and "Stalingrad" rank slightly higher in my opinion.
In all honesty, it took me almost two years to purchase this album after its initial release. In one of the heavy metal sites that I blog on, there was a bit of a lukewarm or tepid response to "Blind Rage". Though I understand why many feel that this album isn't as good as the first two with Tornillo, this album still has that classic Wolf Hoffmann and Peter Baltes feel to it. When you put it on, you know who and what you're listening to.
The second half of this Deluxe Edition is a DVD concert from Chile in 2013. My first impressions of the show are this; great South American crowd with a ton of energy, really nice stage presence from the band members, good camera angles, BUT the production is way too clean. I felt the whole time as if I was listening to a studio recording. Be prepared for plenty of studio overdubs on this one. Here again, it doesn't mean that this live recording is not enjoyable, it just means it doesn't have that feel of a live record at all. I would have rather had a live C.D than that of a live DVD. Having said all that, this was still a great purchase!

“Blind Rage” has left its mark and once again Accept continues this amazing streak of great releases, which has matched the 80’s releases blow for blow. While I did think it fell just a bit below “Stalingrad” (“Shadow Soldiers” is just unmatched in recent memory), the album proves as good as it gets and easily ranks among the best ever from Accept. As a huge fan that has been privileged enough to have lived in both great eras of this band, I would tell any fan that laments missing out on the classic era of Accept due to accident of birth: you need only buy the latest albums and go see shows now. How often do you get a chance to go back in time? Quick, it won’t last forever!

In my opinion, this release is slightly better than Stalingrad and on par with Blood of the Nations. Vocals, sound and production are excellent. This is a great deal if you get the DVD also. The DVD has 22 songs and the selection of songs is perfect. They'll be around for a while.

Accept's comeback has been really impressive! I can't think of another classic band whose new albums I enjoy on par with their classics. As expected, this album has a similar sound as the last two albums, while incorporating a few more elements of their classic sound, for example: "Dark Side of My Heart" has a classic sounding riff much like "Up to the Limit." I really love Wolf's soloing even more since the comeback—there seems to be one of those epic, melodic sounding leads in nearly every song. Mark, as well as everyone, delivers another awesome performance—as on the previous two albums. Great album!!!
If you are already a fan, pick it up—it's a great addition to the Accept catalog. If not previously an Accept fan, this is a worthy introduction and you really need to check this band out, if you have any interest in melodic/traditional metal or hard rock. By the way, the content for the price is insane—it's worth the price for only the DVD or the album and you get both!!! Pick it up, now!!!

The 3rd disc with Marc Tornillo on vocals and Accept has come up with another killer helping of classic German metal. Natural progression from the 1st two albums since reuniting, with the lyrics touching on subjects currently going on in the world today (Wanna Be Free about human trafficking, 200 Years about life after mankind falls, Dying Breed paying homage to the metal greats that paved the way for bands like Accept who are sadly starting to pass away).
The bonus DVD is an excellent show from a stop on last years tour for Stalingrad in Santiago Chile.
Overall well worth the money.

Good Album, But Cracks Are Starting To Show

The 3rd album with new singer Mark Tornillo and it's more of the same classic Accept we've come to expect. However, this time around, the songs aren't as immediately catchy or memorable as the 2 albums before it. The songs all kind of blend together and lack the hooks.
It's a good album and sits in well with Blood of the Nations and Stalingrad, but I think maybe the band is starting to wear themselves out. 3 albums and touring the world in 4 years is starting to take it's toll. They might need to take a break and go away for awhile.
I have not watched the DVD, so I have no opinion on that.

The tracks rock from beginning to end. Has that classic ACCEPT sound, it is heavy. The DVD is awesome, great sound, and the line-up on the DVD covers from the starting of ACCEPT to the new stuff. This is a must have collection. The new singer does a fantastic job.

Accept Blind Rage has it all. With a sound like Judas Priest & AC/DC every song explodes with energy that is all their own. If you like screaming guitars, banshee wails, etc this will satisfy your metal hunger.

What I like about the cd, guitarist Wolf Hoffman hasn't lost his classically influenced sound on every track. The other part that I like is the DVD which covers approx. 2 hrs of this awesome metal concert.

Accept shows no signs of slowing down or changing. They are one of the few bands left that have remained loyal to their roots. Blind Rage is heavy metal in it's purest form, balls to the wall!

Singer Mark Tornillo continues to deliver stellar vocals on top of that classic Accept twin guitar attack. It sounds like a very natural progression from the Udo era, much like the transition from Bon to Brian in AC/DC.

Accept just released another great new album that is up there with Balls to the Wall and their other two albums with Tornillo as vocalist. Great guitars and vocals with great production from Andy Sneap as usual. Buy it.
