Despite what you think of Mill Gibson this was a vehicle tailor-made for him. The plot remind you of those classic 80s and 90s action thrillers with a budget and style but it's a little bit more art house. Solid through and through and highly recommend

I liked how the Mel Gibson character went through in his mind all the things that he was doing to break his parole in trying to save his daughter. The show was a bit predictable, but still interesting enough.

A welcome return of Mel Gibson, after his unfortunate pesonal incidents. He's back in the game, fighting, sarcastic, funny. I enjoyed it.

There are movies that are so good that I could watch them a second time. There are movies that I could watch a hundred times, like Sicario. Blood Father is a, for me, a one or twice movie. It is good. Maybe even very good. Not jaw dropping, but compelling. I was surprised at Mel Gibson's range of acting here, and the interaction between Mel and the daughter is quite good. Some good action as well. It's not a full on revenge action movie, but in part. The settings are good. As a side note I played an FBI agent in the background of a few scenes, as a background actor, so I got to see Mel. This was in New Mexico where it was shot. So, a solid B grade movie. The plot is Mel gets his daughter who struggles work addiction and theiving back from some bad gangster types, and they reunite and we see what a good guy the father is. No regrets with this one, but not OMG level, more like, 'hey, that was surprisingly good.'

This is one of Mel Gibson's best pictures. Despite Hollywood and its petty hypocritical judgment of him, Mel is still one of the best actors of this or any other age. I'm so glad Blood Father was offered to stream. I feel privileged when I get to see work of this caliber. Oh, sorry. I got a bit carried away. Here's my take on why you should watch this movie. There's anger and resentment seething just beneath the skin of Mel's character at the loss of not only years with his child, but most of his life either behind bars or prisoner of the bottle. Then his long lost daughter is delivered up to him due to fate and circumstance. One thing's for sure. In what comes next he more than makes up for time lost, proving his undying love for his child. See this movie. At it's end remember this single statement. It's not real love unless you're prepared to die for it.

One of the best action movies. He is back and it is fun to see him back

Mel Gibson in his older age as good as he was young

Mel Gibson's latest movie project brings plenty of action and drama to Blood Father. It was also great to see Mel Gibson's humor shine through in his character. I forgot just how funny he can be! This movie really is a keeper; however, I rated it four stars because the story line wasn't exactly unique, but still, all the same, it was a great movie with the perfect balance of action/drama with awesome comedy mixed in!! If you're a fan of Mel Gibson's or even if you're not, this is still a must-see in my opinion!!

Going into this movie, I wasn't expecting much. No advertising for this, I only heard about it from a reviewer. Seeing it though I came out smiling. This movie is in no way a happy movie, it's quite dark and Mel Gibsons performance is crazy, actually quite literally crazy. His character is a recovering addict and convict and he's trying to work towards a better life, then someone shows up and forces him to go down that dark road again and to see Gibson crack is both scary and a little heartbreaking.

This movie should of came out on the Big Screen!! Awesome Actors!! And PERFECT Storyline! Mel Gibson is a Recovering addict/tattoo artist and father to a runaway daughter. After some years he receives a phone call from his daughter requesting money as she is in trouble for killing her ex boyfriend who happened to be a cartel and now is fleeing from hitmen seeking revenge! While on the run they encounter hitman and make new enemies... along the way! this movie didn't disappoint me, it has lots of action and violence which will keep you entertained

Blood Father' doesn't break any new ground in its genre, but it is nice to see Mel Gibson in a solid, character-driven movie again. The film may have not gotten enough publicity or attention to be considered a 'comeback' for the actor, but it's certainly a step in the right direction. While this title isn't quite good enough to recommend for purchase, it's definitely worth a look.

If you're a Mel Gibson fan, then get this movie. Can't say I'm a fan of his personal life and what happened in the news, but as far as his movie making ability I'm all in. His acting is perfect for this role. Story is pretty good, chemistry between actors is good, and the action is worth the money I paid for the DVD. Not wall to wall action, but the father daughter relationship and acting between the action scenes more then keep the movie going. While this may not be the best choice for your average movie watcher, any and all Mel Gibson fans and plain old angry action movie fans this one is totally worth your time. I rated this 5 stars because I personally loved it.

This is a movie similar to Taken but not in the exact same way. This movie is gritty and at times unrealistic. Mel is an excon trying to stay straight with the law until his estranged daughter shows up. This is a good thing and a bad thing for dad. It all seems to sort of work out with the help of a strong supporting cast. Blood Father will remind you of his work in his Lethal Weapon action adventure film series. I liked it.

I've always liked Mel Gibson and I didn't turn away from him after his "incident" years ago. He's a great director and actor and I like everything he does. I was always a big fan of the Mad Max flics as well as Lethal Weapon movies and his latest Hacksaw Ridge that he directed is amazing!!! This move was fun, had good action, humor and had a great ending.

Mel Gibson's character is barely holding his life together as an ex-con, trying to stay on the right side of the law, when his outlaw daughter pleads for his help. He discards all self-concern to help her. Gibson does a completely convincing job as the imperfect, stumbling father whose only life purpose becomes helping his wayward daughter.

I was happily surprised by this film. I saw the trailer and thought it would be good but it was more than that. It was a good story well told. A story of the power of a Father's love for his child and the redeeming value that can bring in the end. The performances are excellent and the production is top notch. Not a huge hit but it should have been. The violence is sudden and brutal and carries a weight that is unusual in this type of movie. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Mel Gibson returns to appearing as a character with serious issues, and gives an awesome performance. The film was good too. It has a good story, good action scenes, and great acting. This is definitely one of Mel Gibson's best movies since his Mad Max films.

Mel is very good as an ex con out of jail and protecting his troubled daughter. Very good performances by all including William H. Macy. Some excellent bad guys and really great realistic stunts and fight scenes. Worth buying for sure for under $10
