    Difficult but worth it

Bloodborne is an amazing game, but if you are the type that cannot handle dying ALOT then you may want to re-think your purchase. It will take a while to get fully involved in what the game has to offer but in the end it will be worth it. My last game by from software was demon souls and I put 100s of hours into that. Bloodborne is no different, it requires patience, observation of your enemies and guts to do and try things to reach your goals. Its a rewarding experience when you defeat a boss you have tried 5 times before, however its a frustrating mess the 4 times before. The visuals are great, the weapons are fun to play with and figure out as they have multiple ways to use them, the enemies are very diverse and awesome in their own right. If you are tired of open world overload and want a challenge then invest in blood borne. If you cant handle death and a true challenge don't.

Bloodborne is an action rpg game that defies modern gaming conventions. Its an evolution of gameplay that has its origins in Demon's Souls on PS3 but its fine tuned with new ideas for the current gen PS4. This is game doesn't hold your hand with tutorials. It throws you in the mix and you learn the many nuances of its systems through trial and error. Combat is aggressive, visceral, and strategic. The atmosphere is engrossing making the horror and dread feel unparalleled to other games. The art direction is superb. And above all else this game is tough but fair. For mature gamers only. You learn the story and your character motivations by exploring the setting and talking with npcs with many secrets to explore. After a 40+ hour campaign replay value is endless with new game+ modes, procedurally generated chalice dungeons, and pvp/coop modes. Bloodborne is as good as gaming gets!

This is one the best designed games I've ever played. It's not perfect, with long load times, framerate pacing, and some questionable game design decisions(the biggest of which is the complete and total lack of an explanation on how to equip weapons), but even with these issues, the game as a whole is so well crafted, it's hard to deny how good the base gameplay and design are. The world is filled with hauntingly beautiful art, victorian architecture, Lovecraft enemy design, and chilling sounds throughout. The original score can be horrifying, grand, and usually both. It's a very absorbing game where once it gets you hooked, you'll be sucked in. You might die a couple times here and there, but when you finally get past a part you were stuck on, the feeling of satisfaction is unmatched compared to most games. This is definitely one game you don't want to miss out on.

I’ve actually already owned this game since 2017. Just bought another copy for a gift. SO MUCH CONTENT Oozing with atmosphere and details Fluid and tactful combat Challenging! But fair. Massive replayability DLC is massive and WELL worth how much content it gives. This game came out in 2014 and the community is STILL active! I have no issues finding people to co-op or pvp with. If you like RPGs and a challenge this is so so so worth the money!

    Hurts So Good

Bloodborne is not a game for the feint of heart. Your hand isn't held through a simplistic tutorial and even the beginning stages will test your might and your patience. No matter how long you grind for healing items or blood echoes (the game's form of XP) to aid in leveling up, skill is rewarded above all else and it's a shining example of what makes the game so special. The feeling evoked from finally defeating that one foe who has beaten you for what feels like the millionth time is the same inexplicable feeling that's seemingly non-existent in today's gaming landscape. It's a euphoria that keeps pushing you to discover more stunning Gothic environments and more terrifying creatures that will inevitably tear you to pieces. Bloodborne isn't a game for everyone, no, but it's a game I'd very happily recommend to everyone who enjoys a challenge.

This game is very bloody and it reminds me of old school gaming. I'm talking old school Castlevania style gaming. This game can be very frustrating and very rewarding at the same time. The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is smooth. The AI is really good too. I never played Dark Souls so I was a bit confused at first. I did a lot of reading and asked experienced Dark Souls players. Once I understood the concept and adapted to the gameplay style this game became easier. Don't give up! This game is one of the best exclusive titles out. There is a lot to explore. Once you beat the game you can go back and explore the chalice dungeons or give the new game + a go, which means you'll start over with all of your weapons, items, and upgraded abilities. The game will be much harder the next time around but by then you'll be 10x more prepared.

    Challenging and Rewarding Experience

If you've never played a Souls game, then this game is going to feel weird at first. There's no hand-holding tutorial or quest markers or trails on a mini-map that tell you where to go. Bloodborne just drops you into this dark and odd world, and it's on you (the player) to explore and immerse yourself in it. The more time you put into this game. The more it rewards you. The more hidden areas, shortcuts, and items you find. It feels challenging at first and like the odds are stacked against you. But once you learn the mechanics and how the combat works, you start to feel like you can tackle anything the game throws at you. I always felt like this game respected me as a player, and I wish more games were like that.

If you liked Dark Souls, you will have a blast with Bloodborne. The atmosphere, graphics and sounds are great. It's tough, but part of the fun is going back, fine tuning your strategy and retrieving your lost blood echoes (souls). The enemies are well designed, especially the large ones that aren't even bosses, and you'll find yourself peering around the corner before advancing. Finding the shortcuts is always a satisfying moment, and it's great to be able to sell items early on. If I have to gripe about something, it's having to fast travel to the Hunter's Dream before going jumping off to another area, and it's not helped by the boring load screen which is simply "Bloodborne" text. Maybe From Software can tweak these with an update. Bottom line, if you're up for a challenge, Bloodborne delivers on all fronts.

This is the first game I've played from the Souls series & it's been very exciting! This game isn't for those who are low on patience & short tempered. Bloodborne will push you & will force you to get better or send you to a rage where you just want to quit. The game has proved the point of no risk, no reward. But know when back out when you're on top or all of your previous will be for nothing. Graphics are awesome, the many different unique weapons are bold & fresh, online multiplayer is very fun & easy to connect to (once after you've collected the "bells" after your first boss fight). The priceless satisfaction of defeating a boss after being defeated yourself so many times, only to finally triumph is ever so rewarding. This game is a great challenge if you love challenging yourself!

I've been a huge fan of from software games for a long time. Played all the souls games with multiple play throughs and + modes. I was concerned about the dramatic combat changes (removing shields and armor defensive strategies, less spell casting, less weapon variety, few covenants, changes in upgrade system.) That said, I loved this game and didn't feel let down at all. Combat is fast and furious, enemies are varied and the bosses are large and fairly challenging. The chalice dungeon system is great for replayability and the gemstone upgrade system lets u create a large variety of weapon skill sets to play with. Overall the game felt easier (even ng+ and beyond) than souls games. I hope they add dlc with additional weapons. There are only about 18 in the whole game. Enjoy!

I’ve beat Demon Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 a bunch of times, its personally one of my favorite games on Last Gen. If you’re a fan of those game you will love Bloodborne. I put in about 15 hours so far exploring and leveling up. The combat is very fun and victory is satisfying. The graphics are amazing, very beautiful environments and character designs. People are complaining about long load times but I haven’t had any issues with it and they'll be patching that soon to make them shorter. I love the gameplay, fluid controls just a great game all around. If you’re new to the series or never played any of the Dark Souls games I can see why you’d get frustrated with it but the game is challenging and extremely satisfying once you get into it. Highly recommend it.

Love that the game is challenging but the storyline leaves a lot of questions. Theres a lot that you can miss if you go fast (or even if you go slow) but i guess that just adds to the replayability

This game has great combat, exploration and atmosphere, but it's quite challenging and the story is very minimal. The first 2 bosses are very difficult and I almost gave up, but the game really opened up after them.

One of the best games ever made for PS4. It's also one of the most difficult games ever made for the PS4 as there is not a lot of room for error. This can be frustrating for a lot of people and can be compounded since the 'camera' angle often needs re-positioning during intense moments which result in restarting from the last checkpoint. That said, it's total worth the time, money, and frustration. The gameplay, the graphics, the content, the controls, the story, and the controls are all great. In a market that's full of first-person shooters, Bloodborne really stands out as a breath of fresh air in the gaming world.

Bloodborne is an action RPG in which you hunt for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like a disease. Peril, death and madness infest this dark world, and you're tasked with uncovering its darkest secrets which will be necessary for you to survive. Armed with a singular arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll require wits, strategy and reflexes to dispatch the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's underbelly. You will utility holy chalices to access an array of vast underground ruins, chock full of traps, beasts, and rewards, to explore and conquer on your own or with other people.

Dying in this type of game is an expectation and that's I guess what makes it so appealing. When you die it sucks, I mean really sucks. You lose everything you've collected unless you can get back to where you died. I think that pays homage to a dead era of gaming where saves and hand holding tutorials are cast in the void and your mind is stuck to choose its own path, play style, progression and interpretation of how the game is meant to be played. I definitely would not use this as a filler game because any hint of progression will have you saying "one more try" for hours. Knowing that if you could just find the next camp or kill one more boss you'll get a satisfaction like none other.

I haven't played the Dark Souls games to provide a comparison there but I really enjoy games like Fallout 4 and Shadows of Mordor. Bloodbourne is a third person game that offers a different default mechanic and therefore requires a different approach to playing the game, adding some welcome diversity to my library. For example, the game requires a more balanced approach to fighting enemies such as dodging and learning the enemies attack behavior. It also has some different game play features such as being able to recover lost health from an enemy via follow up attacks. Once you figure out what the checkpoints are in the game, such as activating lanterns and opening gates, it becomes more fun (one review I saw mentioned there were no save points). I died a lot in the beginning but eventually got the hang of it.

Bloodborne is From Software's crowning acheivement. An incredible deep and dark tale, captivating Victorian style and ultra fluid, super fun combat all weave together to make an unforgettable game. The co-op elements are great, there are plenty of NPC spawns to help with hard bosses, and invasions are as tense as ever. Newcomers may find the difficulty fairly punishing at first - BUT stick with it! I can't possible relate how rewarding this game is to grasp, but also what you get from figuring out exactly what is going on in the town of Yharnam. I can't sing it's praises enough. 400+ hours in and will double that at some point :)

I had watched from afar the numerous games in the Souls game series (Demon/Dark Souls) and saw how crazy hard but crazy fun they can be. I finally decided to take the plunge and buy Bloodborne after watching a couple of gameplay videos. I was really drawn to the setting and the aesthetics of the game. I thought I had a good handle on how to play the game after watching some videos but I was very wrong. I spent a while in the first area dying a lot but in the end I'm glad that I did. As I progressed further in the game, the strategies I learned from the first area helped immensely. Of course I had to continue learning new approaches through out the game so there was always a new challenge to be conquered. I would highly recommend this game if you like a good challenge and don't mind failing easily.
