Was uncertain if my V-Moda's could ever be replaced...
not uncertain anymore. There is a lot to be said about having active integrated amps on both sides. The passive sound is decent by itself however when activated, they are absolutely amazing!
Form factor is great....although they are a bit on the heavier side, they do not cause fatigue or ear warmth/sweat like some of the other over ear headphones (Vmoda included).

Quality excellent headphones . I've owned Sony headphones grado's headphones and Sony headphones. These are the best headphones for $500 and under without a doubt . The headphones sound very good without any help . however the Amps do free you from DAC's and other external mobile devices for your phone and tablet .
