Fresh air and very quiet. This is a great air purifier if you are looking to reduce any smells or stuffy air. I live in an apartment with carpet, and this purifier got rid of the unknown smells and stuffiness that comes with apartment living.
It connects to wifi and the app allows you to schedule times for different fan speeds and other settings like night mode (turns off the display lights).
It's a very well-designed product and looks like a modern device (reminds me of Tesla or BMW).
It even picks up on cooking smells, which you can track in the app. If you are chopping onions or sauteing food, this purifier will help. We were cooking a crock pot meal one day, which usually permeates through the whole place, but the Blueair purifier must have been doing its job.
Also great for checking humidity, temperature, and the levels of PM particulate matter in the air.

Have used this now close to a month. We use this in a living room , with an open kitchen behind us.
It kicks up whenever we start up cooking , clean up VOC gases ( I guess its VOC, my knowledge in gases is poorer). We can see all the operations on the app. Its very easy to operate. Connected with alexa but didn't have to use voice commands.
I set on a schedule , so it takes care of itself. Main reason I bought it is because it kills COVID germs. I even reached to Blueair customer support to confirm the same and they did. However in reality I don't know how effective is it to kill COVID germs, I don't have any devices to measure that. However with this in the room, I feel the air in the room is clean and fresh.

Breath of Fresh Air!!!!

The Blueair HealthProtect 7470i with GermSheild has been a breath of fresh air in our home. The quality of air in our home, specifically in our bedroom, has improved significantly to the point where you can tell the difference when you walk into another room, it also does an amazing job removing odors, and airborne viruses and bacteria’s and the best part its quiet, so you don’t even know when it’s working. So, let’s go over the Pros and Cons of the Blueair Healthprotect 7470i. THIS PURIFER HAS NOT BEEN TESTED AGAINST COVID-19.
Unboxing and Setup-
So, the setup process on the Blueair Healthprotect is extremely simple. Simply take the air purifier out of the box, open the side panel revealing the filter. Take the plastic off the filter, place the filter back into the unit and close the panel, and you are pretty much done. The unit is ready to the clean and purify the air in your home. Blue air does have an app and I would highly recommend downloading the app to be able to connect the air purifier to wifi, remotely control the air purifier, and check on its cleaning status. The app also keeps track of the life of the filter, child lock control, and setup a schedule.
-Features- This air purifier is intended for an area about 418 square feet. We have this setup in our master bedroom which is about 250 square feet and have it setup on auto mode with the Germshield mode and it takes roughly about 10 minutes to clean the air. This purifier works by pulling in air from the bottom and pushes the air up through its HEPA, Antibacterial, Antimicrobial, Activated carbon filter to clean and filter 99.97% of airborne particles, dust, dander, pollen, mold and kills 99% of bacteria and viruses caught in the filter and also to remove any odors. THIS PURIFER HAS NOT BEEN TESTED AGAINST COVID-19. The purifier also features a very sleek looking touch pad and 2 inch by 2 inch color display which shows you the current status of the cleaning process, current temperature and humidity levels and buttons to control the unit. The unit has two wheels on the bottom so its easy to move around from one room to another. The unit measures about 27in Height, 10in Width, and 12in Depth and roughly weights about 35lbs, so its fairly easy to move about the house.
Pros- Works extremely well – Even removing odors, and air freshener smell. To put this unit to the test I sprayed an air fresher around the blueair to see how well the air purifier works and with in a few minutes I could no longer smell the air fresher, and neither could my wife. The purifier pulled everything in, even the air freshener, the cleaned the air.
Cons- I could not find anything on the unit at this point.
This unit performs really well in cleaning the air in your home, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for portable air purifier.

First up, on opening the Blueair HealthProtect 9470i found it is an attractive air filter which will look great in any room at home or office. The style, lines and appearance reveal its Swedish heritage/design and development. Beyond the brilliant styling, the Blueair looks to have been well engineered and constructed.
The layout of the system is quite simple to manage, from filter locations, filter replacement steps and the intuitive control panel.
Setup was a snap, simple and very straight forward. Had the unit running within about 30 minutes after browsing the setup instructions. QR scan the Quick Start Guide and install the Blueair app and simply follow the installation prompts – Blue Tooth connection for app. App is well-written, could be a touch more intuitive.
System includes a professionally written manual, which I always appreciate. The manual is easy to follow and explains the system thoroughly.
Maintenance on the system will be simply accomplished in few steps. The Blueair will notify you when to replace filters which requires only opening a side door to remove and insert the new filters.
This is my third HEPA filter in my home and has replaced an older system in the master bedroom. Blends into the room with a with a quiet expression of style. A perfect match for the room.
The fan has three settings, running the on low is whisper quiet at (22 db) and on high is in the range of a “normal conversation” at (45 db.) In other words, it is quiet, superb for TV viewing.
“ENERGY STAR rated using less energy than an incandescent lightbulb on high (48 W).” That is a fantastic achievement for an air filter that will manage a medium size room. Excellent.
LED touch control panel and info read out works great and looks genuinely nice, quite intuitive to manage the unit. All the control panel functions are accessible within the Blueair app plus the ability to set schedules, dim LED brightness, create custom location name, set child lock, and other settings. It would be nice to have a “Night” button the control panel rather than having to get my mobile to switch the mode. Would be nice to have a remote to manage the system from across the room.
Control Panel shows Humidity, temperature, Air Quality info, filter indicator, controls, and air quality data – comprehensive and includes auto control which operates/adjusts the system based on air quality. Excellent read out for particulates, gases, humidity, and temp. All of which is assessable on the mobile app. Well thought out.
Notes:
• Supports Alexa
• Wi-Fi operates at 2.4 ghz
• Monitors air quality – particles, gases (tVOC)
• Two Pre-filters and two main HEPA filters
• HEPA filter replacement is $70 – nice price point
• Cable winder underneath where you can wind excess cable – nice touch
GermShield technology “functions to prevent bacterial growth” and kill germs – removes 99.97% of viruses, bacteria, dust, pollen, dander, mold, odors and 99% of germs.
Do I like the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i, absolutely. Gorgeous for an air filter system, checks all the boxes for a High-end air filtration system and does so without breaking the bank.

We have a Blueair 211+ auto and it works great, the main reason we bought this 4740i is that it can provide the particle pollution data (pm10, pm2.5, and pm1.0).
It is a little disappointed that most time during the day it says 0 for all three reading unless there is the strong burst of dust ( I intentionally clapping on the dusty gloves in front of the sensor to see if I can get any non-zero readings), the sensitivity of the sensor is not good, at least for the unit we have.
Yes, it does do its job and filtering the particles well.
The noise level is low at fan level 1 and below. We set up the fan at low levels during night time.
The app is good.
Considering that this model is much more expansive than the one we already have ( minus one point) and the new feature does not meet our expectation ( minus one point), we give this the three star rating

Presentation
The Blueair - HealthProtect 7470i is quite impressive. It is packaged in a diminutive box with clear instructions on how to set things up. In uncommon fashion, the unit also ships with a well organized and easy to read, printed user manual.
I typically skip 'quick start' guides but with this state-of-the-art unit, I decided to give it a shot. Using the provided QR code on the guide, loading the app and getting the 7470i up & running was super easy.
The unit is well constructed and logically arranged. The display on the top surface is comprehensive and easy to use. Through the mobile app, the user is afforded total control over the functions, operation and scheduling of the air purifier. Impressive!
Initial Setup
Setup was quick and straightforward. Assembly was a simple as removing the security tape and small foam bits that were put in place to protect the unit during shipment & plugging in the power cord. Again, the QR code facilitated quick start process IS the way to go with the The HealthProtect 7470i.
The smart filter and dust screen are easily accessed from behind a swing out door. The craftsmanship of these components as well as the entire unit is readily apparent. No flimsy junk here. You can even setup a filter replacement subscription from within the app. Nice touch!
Performance
During the day, the unit is relatively quiet in Auto Mode and whisper quiet in Night Mode. (this assumes no major bump in pollutants in the room...) Night Mode also reduces the top panel lighting to an absolute minimum. The two mode lights that remain 'On" are barely visible in a dark room.
Through the mobile app, all the finer adjustments one would expect from such a quality design are available and intuitive to use. Whereas the top panel only allows 4 steps of fan speeds, the user is able to do finer steps in increasing the fan speed above a level of "1" ... via the app. Also available through the app is the ability to schedule modes of operation and this functionality works great.
We did test the unit's detection ability with a lit candle. a few spurts of body spray and a vape source, and the 7470i responded quickly in all cases, so this machine does what it's designed to do. In normal, day-to-day circumstances, it will remain in the 'Excellent' or 'Good' range with no major pollutants present in our living space... even with a medium sized dog in the mix. The cleaning response time for a 400 sq/ft room is equally impressive and easily tested by simply introducing your own 'pollutants' into the environment and watching it do its thing. Give it a try! Looking forward to assessing how well the HealthProtect 7470i performs during the spring-time, allergy season but during the short time we've trialed this unit in the winter months, our morning congestion issues noticeably diminished.
We did experience those common nuisances of app lag but nothing out of the ordinary and only once or twice in the several weeks we been using this beast. Only one time did an app issue require us to unplug the unit from the wall outlet.
Summary
All-in-all, the Blueair - HealthProtect 7470i is quite impressive and the perfect air purifier for an approx. 400 sq/ft room in our opinion. Build quality is top-shelf, the mobile app is well organized and easy to navigate and maintenance appears to be pretty simple for the long run.
Pros:
Easy to set up and configure
Just as easy to use and maintain
Exceptional build quality
Excellent mobile app with extensive customization controls
Whisper quiet in normal operation
Cons:
Would have preferred the replacement cost of the Smart Filter to be a bit lower
More granular control of the fan speed from the top, touch panel would be beneficial
Highly recommended.
If you're in need of a quality, room dedicated, air purification system in your home - for health reasons or otherwise - this is the one!

My girlfriend loves to make some of the worlds worst smelling food, and the aroma always floats up stairs! This machine has saved me! Besides greatly removing smells and purifying the air, Germshield gives me added piece of mind also. Leaving the unit set to auto, it will cycle from low to high depending on the quality of the air. On the lowest setting you can’t tell the unit is running at all except feeling the air when you’re next to it. When it kicks on to high it is about as loud as a typical fan on low. On high you can feel the air from probably 15 to 20 feet away from the unit when you’re inline with the vents. I have the unit setup between the kitchen and living room, the unit will show you which side the air is bad on. The air comes out of the right and the left of the unit, the led light on the top will show you which side the polluted air is on. When I’m cooking, the side facing the kitchen will be either orange or red and the other side might be blue or green.
Controlling the unit and monitoring your air is simple with the app. In my experience the app has been excellent, I’m running it on a iPhone 12 Pro Max on 14.3. You can turn the unit on/off and control all its functions no matter where you are thru the app. The app allows you to scroll back thru the day and see the status and quality of your air. You can even scroll back over a week or more and see the changes in air quality. The app will show you the outside air quality compared to your indoor air quality. The Blueair 7470i with GermShield cleans your air and gives you piece of mind while doing it quietly.

INITIAL SET-UP
Unboxing and initial set-up went mostly without issue. The BlueAir has several thoughtful features built in that many competitors do not. I really appreciated the built-in wheels and hidden cord storage on this unit. I had never really thought about those 2 items until I received this unit. Weighing in at 27ish pounds, the BlueAir is not unwieldly, but having those 2 wheels on the bottom is a game changer. All my other HEPA filters were just boxes that needed carried. I never realized how much better something so simple made the initial user experience. Along with that, having the hidden cord storage under the unit is a fantastic design idea. My other air cleaners from different manufactures have always just had their cords dangling behind the machines, often making for tripping hazards. BlueAir has eliminated this issue with its clever, hidden cord management channel at the bottom of the machine. Again, a simple solution, but improved the initial user experience a great deal. I hope others follow suit.
This is one of the first air cleaners I’ve used that actually has to “boot up”. It is loaded with a great deal of tech. Fortunately, initial set-up can be completed without any apps or technical expertise, if so desired. The unit can be unboxed and used as a standalone device. To get the most out of the user experience, BlueAir includes a companion app available for iOS or Android. I downloaded and installed the app on my Android 11 based smartphone. Others have stated that they experienced connection issues with the device. I have not experienced any such issue since set-up and installation of the app. While the app did not behave perfectly during the initial set-up and account creation, it did finally complete with only 1 force closing of the app and a restart. Since the initial hiccup, I have had no further issues and the app and air cleaner has worked consistently since.
USE
As I stated earlier, this is not my first large sized air cleaner. I have purchased others from various manufacturers throughout the years. What I can say is that this is by far, the quietest air cleaner I have in my home. I have another new unit from a competitor that is roughly the same size and this BlueAir is less than ½ as loud as BlueAir’s leading competitors’ models. This is the first air cleaner that I have owned that I can put in the family room and not have it distract from normal activities like watching TV. It is quieter than any other models I have tried and used. BlueAir rates the minimum sound level at 22dB. I think they are close. It is barely louder than a whisper on low.
BlueAir’s decision to make the unit usable without the companion app is a great idea. All the information you need to monitor your indoor air quality and/or condition of the machine and filters are readily available on the top panel display, as well as in the app. An easily visible status light on the top shows your current air quality. Blue being best, green, yellow, orange, and red. On Auto mode, the BlueAir uses its onboard air quality sensors to dynamically monitor and control fan speed to ensure optimum air quality with minimal fan noise. It is a combination that has worked great so far. The fact that I can get any information I want on the status of my air quality from either the device or the app is a great touch. I appreciate the fact that BlueAir reports back the status of VOC’s and particles in PPM vs just a basic status light.
The most impressive feature of this unit is the active Germ Shield Technology. According to BlueAir, this tech proactively monitors your filters. If bacteria or a virus is detected in the air, the machine will active the Germ Shield Tech when it enters standby mode and actively kill bacteria and viruses that may be trapped in the filter media. Awesome!!! In this day and age, what a fantastic feature. It must be noted, that BlueAir specifically states that this technology has not been tested against the Covid-19 virus.
NEGATIVES
The first negative is the point I just covered. I would like to see BlueAir certify its tech to kill the Covid-19 virus. It would also be great to see the Germ Shield work actively while the machine is in use, not just during times of standby mode.
The second negative is the brightness of the LED status lights and control panel. While they are a great and easy visual reference of the status of the machine and the indoor air quality, those lights are bright! I like the unit by my bedrooms, but as it stands, the lights are too bright at night. Even using the BlueAir app to dim the display, they are still way too bright for a bedroom. They can be turned off, but a greater range of brightness adjustment would be appreciated.
CONCLUSIONS
There really isn’t anything not to like about this unit. BlueAir has incorporated a lot of thoughtful features into the device. Little things like built-in casters and hidden cord storage are features I never considered or given any thought to, until now. I look at my other devices and think, why didn’t those folks think of this?
I am also impressed with the amount of information BlueAir gives its users. It is a refreshing change to see something that reports what it sees and is doing, versus a status light where you don’t know for sure what is causing the changes in the machine. The display gives you the current humidity levels (an awesome feature for dry winter months), current temperature, parts per million of contaminants, filter life, Germ Shield status, etc. I find myself thumbing through the status reports probably way more than I should.
Add to all this, a machine that will kill germs and bacteria from the inside of itself. What an outstanding feature living in the world we live in today. This is one air cleaner that checks all my boxes and I am happy to give it a full 5 stars. An excellent product.

I'm gonna be honest here - I have no experience with air purifiers. I've always been one to suffer (apparently needlessly!) when the pollen and pollution count skyrockets, and just drag my miserable self through it. Enter this guy.
I recently moved from Chicago to the Atlanta suburbs, and I wish I had gotten a chance to try it out in the middle of a hot, pollution-filled summer in Chicago, but alas, I will not get that chance. Instead, I have set it up in my new apartment and honestly kind of forgot it was there. It is small (not much bigger than a floor tower fan) and very quiet - the only way I can even tell it is on is by looking for the light! So far, there's not really been much to purify from the air (it's been cool and moist, with low pollution levels), but I'm excited to see how it handles the Georgia summer!
I did set up the Blueair app, and, despite what the rating indicates on the App Store (running it on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, fully UTD iOS), it seems really straightforward to use. The UI of the app seemed a smidge overwhelming at first, but after I fussed around with it for a couple of minutes, I was able to do everything I wanted to use the app for, including telling the air quality, temperature, and RH in the room. You can also monitor the air quality outside from the app! My only complaint about the app is that it displays the temperature in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit, and I haven't been able to figure out how to change that.

The Blueair - HealthProtect 7470i is a marvelous gadget for any home or small office, especially during the pandemic of 2020. Not only is the machine very effective at eliminating odors (I have mine set in between my kitchen, living room, and family room), there are multiple measurement both on the device itself and within the app to show you the cleanliness of the air. I've included a few photos; the LEDs on the front designate the current air quality. I can say, without a doubt, this machine is sensitive to even the smallest change in air quality; just opening the oven while it was heating up turned the Blueair purifier to pure red.
What's amazing with all the work this air purifier is doing in the background - it is nearly silent. Even on the highest fan setting, it's hardly noticeable.
I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking to purify the air in their home, small office, etc. It's a terrific device!

I must say that price is pretty high on this purifer, but I have found it to be reliable enough that I think it's worth the money.
Although filter costs are high, it does seem to last for quite a while: in my case, it lasted more than a year, with about 30% of its life left.
Despite its size, the unit isn't heavy. I think the biggest problem I have is with the app, which isn't required to use the unit, but offers additional functionalities.
I am unsure if it's problem with our WIFI or not, but the app almost always has a problem connecting with the unit: just be patient.

Clean air, and virtually noiseless...this is perfect for our open living room to kitchen area in our home. It actually replaced a larger and more expensive model we had picked up only 2 years ago; because the noise factor combined with the replacement cost of new filters made us want to try this Blueair we had heard so much about. We are SO GLAD we did!
It does everything reviewers claim - from removing food odors like a champ, to making the room(s) you have it running in smelling NOTICEABLY cleaner as you transfer to a bedroom/outside/different room, etc.
What it really excels at is effectively purging the air of contaminants, while really not making too much noise whatsoever. You can totally watch TV, nap restfully without even thinking of having to turn it down or off.
There also is an app by BlueAir which you can connect and it monitors the AQI (Air Quality index) in your area, and it will adjust as needed to make sure you have the cleanest air possible in your home; while working to combat any environmental VOCs and bacterias.
Its great peace of mind and highly recommended. You also can trick nieces and nephews (maybe for a second) saying its a custom PS5 :)

Blueair makes one heck of an air purifier. The air quality sensor is very sensitive which is great for those with allergies, and pets. It handles odors that waft in from the kitchen, pet dander, dust, etc. I have pets and am allergic, but it does a great job at clearing the air of dirt and dander. The lcd display is very nice and easy to use. The app is great, it lags a little bit but it’s a very nice feature to have. Easy to use and setup. I recommend this for anyone with asthma or allergies.

With pandemic, staying at home/ work from home is the new normal for past 10 months and living in phoenix, AZ where the air quality is not great(phoenix ranks 7th for worst pollution), we were looking for a good air purifiers that can reduce allegories and filter airborne particles like dust, pollen and if possible some virus and bacteria and found this Blueair healthprotect that met all our requirements for protecting health by improving indoor air quality index.
Packaging was good and it’s very easy to setup. Unpacked, installed in our bedroom that measures 22 x 18(396 sq ft) and seems to work well compared to our other brands we tried so far with its performance(280CADR). Machine is whisper quiet at the lowest setting and can barely hear its running but can hear the fan sound when its set to highest setting but not compared to Vornado Vortex fan that is super loud that we use in summer months for air movement. It uses very less watts even on the highest setting. Filter change is very easy and uses HEPASilent Ultra filtration. Cost of replacing this smartfilter is expensive ($70) compared to other brands and there is no generic brand that fits as of this writing, but filter change is required yearly and if enrolled to automatic subscription we can get for $59. Cost is high because this smartfilter uses a smart RFID chip for real-time usage monitoring and alerts the user when its required for filter change compared to other brands.
Another cool feature, is that the blueair app keep track of the air purifier progress in real time with its advanced sensors. LCD display has a blue bright light that gives details of the air quality, VOC levels, temperature and humidity. In order to control the brightness or turn off the blue light on the lcd panel, you would need to download app on your mobile as this machine is wifi /Bluetooth enabled and works best with smart phones for easy control which I love it. Color changing indicator on the LCD is a nice cool feature to know the air quality in a quick glance without browsing your phone. If its blue the air quality is great, green for good, yellow for moderate, orange for slightly pollute and red for pollute. There is also a child lock feature in the app where you can enable it to just make sure kids don’t mess with the settings.
Scheduling is another great feature that we use it on ours every day. It is done through app. We just scheduled to run 1 hour before our bedtime just to be sure the air is cleaner. Comes with extended warranty at no additional cost for 5 years.
Pros: Quiet, SMART, Cool design, App and voice enabled, SmartFilter, Large LCD with color change for air quality, protects from most airborne virus and bacteria.
Overall, highly recommended if are in a city that is highly polluted and the AQI is not great. So happy to have this purifier installed to know that we are protected against the bacteria and virus (germshield technology) and not worry about the germs in air.
