I'm going to kick this off with the obvious as I had the same question before watching: the movie does play like a gender-swapped Superbad. While the plot and characters are similar, the movie has a huge heart and smart script. Where Superbad relies on toilet humor, Booksmart uses wit and playing against stereotypes for laughs. That's not to say it doesn't provide it's own silly jokes, it just doesn't fall back on them. Billie Lourd stole the show for me and I cackled every time she showed up. Overall, a great movie which I highly recommend.

This is such a funny movie, you won’t regret buying it.

First off, please be warned that this is a movie about two girls who are "book smart," not two girls going to a store called "Books Mart." That really threw me off for the first half. The rest of it feels like "Superbad" for the ladies, not that "Superbad" invented the "all-in-one-night" teen comedy subgenre but that comparison isn't hard to make. Olivia Wilde's directing is a triumph, can't wait for the Criterion Channel to devote a playlist to her someday

I saw the high reviews for this movie n decided to give it a go. It was ok but not laugh out loud funny I thought it was going to be. But check it out.

Although it's not as funny in the same way "Superbad" is, "Booksmart" is still as good as it gets when it comes to coming-of-age teen comedies. It has some funny and crazy moments, but it wasn't overly-vulgar. It's the type of film you can't help but appreciate after watching it. Like Superbad, Booksmart provides extra perspective on high school experiences.

This is it's own funny movie. Didn't know one of the girls is Jonah's sister so unfortunately that even makes it more where people compare this to SuperBad but it shouldn't be that way. Also the soundtrack is good, they definitely chose the music artists well to fit the scenes in the movie.

Ya have a sis and recall high school adolescens of your day, how to look back in hind sight the crazy drama we'd create for ourselves and now love adulthood :) it still has it's similarities, yes !?! but it's in Politics these days, lol had talked squeeze that in folks but true ?

This movie is great, funny where it counts, with great performances. You owe it to yourself to check this out. The story may not be all that inspired but the actors shine in their roles and really ground the movie and make all the relationships feel authentic.

Olivia Wilde is a great director. I first saw Kaitlyn Dever on Last Man Standing. This movie shows what a great young actress that she has become. The movie is funny, but really makes you think. I believe that is pretty rare.

Some funny moments, but there are better films out there who have done the premise much better (ie Superbad, and Good Boys). If you’re looking for a film with some decent laughs throughout, you could do worse. The Best Buy team at my town’s store did a great job in having my pre-order ready for me to pick up.

I saw this in cinemas without knowing much about it, and loved it so much I saw it again and then bought the Blu-Ray. You'll love the two main characters. You'll laugh, tear up, and want to revisit this movie again.

Great film about two smart high schoolers needing to have fun in school besides just acing they classes. Every student's wish to get the A's the need, but not miss out on their youth while they can. Funny and smart.

One of the best of 2019! Olivia Wilde's directorial debut is hilarious with well-rounded characters. Wish it had been avail on 4K, but happy to own it at all on Blu-ray.

Got bored very fast. Not as funny as the commercials.

This is such a well made movie. The story and humor are wonderful and it’s a must see. Not many people saw it in theaters so now is your opportunity to watch and own a treasure of a film.

Simply one of the best modern comedies and one of the best films of 2019. It is not "a female Superbad" it is Booksmart and I could not recommend it enough!

Seen this formula for a movie before, superbad? But this movie works just as well! It was really funny and really good time! Don’t pass this comedy gem!

If you like movies like Superbad and Good Boys, you must check this Movie out. Funny, Well written and great characters, this movie was just a blast.
