    Outrageously Funny!

This film was extremely underrated and I need to say how insanely good and especially funny it was— topping highschool films like Super Bad! This movie had that 2020’s-ish upgrade of what highschool is like today. There’s the cast in this film who do such a great job embodying the characters in each and every scene whether it was the A-typical jock/heartthrob, egghead girls, sl*tty girl (with rumors to back up her rep), gay student, that one guy who annoys everyone, skater kid, pothead kid, principal on edge and the teacher students crush super hard on. Watch this film and there will be at least 3 scenes you’ll laugh out loud to. I laughed in nearly every scene. So happy and stoked I was able to purchase this! I absolutely recommend!!!

    A welcome comedic surprise

I'm going to kick this off with the obvious as I had the same question before watching: the movie does play like a gender-swapped Superbad. While the plot and characters are similar, the movie has a huge heart and smart script. Where Superbad relies on toilet humor, Booksmart uses wit and playing against stereotypes for laughs. That's not to say it doesn't provide it's own silly jokes, it just doesn't fall back on them. Billie Lourd stole the show for me and I cackled every time she showed up. Overall, a great movie which I highly recommend.

Smart and funny. This is one of the best coming of age movies I’ve seen in a long time. This was a great movie all the way around.

One of the best comedies of 2019

This is hands down one of my favorite movies of 2019. Sadly, it didn't get much attention when it was in theaters but don't let that fool you. If you liked Superbad, this is your movie. (Fun Fact: Beanie Feldstein who plays one of the leads, is Jonah's Hill sister) The movie follows the plot of Amy and Molly who are two straight A students who never partied in high school because they wanted to get good grades and get into good schools. The day before graduation they find out that everyone who partied still got into those good schools too so they avoided partying for nothing and make it their mission to get to a party that night. Plenty of great laughs and clever writing throughout. Well worth watching for your next movie night. Pair it with Good Boys and/or Superbad.

Simply one of the best modern comedies and one of the best films of 2019. It is not "a female Superbad" it is Booksmart and I could not recommend it enough!

    Another Wild & Crazy One

This is good if you're into those real wild and crazy party movies. Two girls, who always thought it was more important to study and get good grades rather than be out partying, come to realize that a lot of the "party hardy" kids are going onto the same kind of colleges they are. Realizing that they could have had it both ways, they go through all the wild craziness on their last night of high school. Definitely rated R for a reason.

I saw this in cinemas without knowing much about it, and loved it so much I saw it again and then bought the Blu-Ray. You'll love the two main characters. You'll laugh, tear up, and want to revisit this movie again.

i was very very mad when i saw in articles that this movie did so poorly in the theaters due to other huge budget movies taking the spotlight from indie movies like this! this movie is hilarious from start from finish. The writing is amazing and the pacing is perfect for a drama movie like this! its about two friend going through a last stage in high school before graduation and breaking through drama after they find out that all the hard work they've done was all in vein since they could've enjoyed themselves as well but chose to study instead of parting. Very good movie and i highly recommend it to everyone that enjoys chick flicks and dramas.

It's an adjective, not a place

First off, please be warned that this is a movie about two girls who are "book smart," not two girls going to a store called "Books Mart." That really threw me off for the first half. The rest of it feels like "Superbad" for the ladies, not that "Superbad" invented the "all-in-one-night" teen comedy subgenre but that comparison isn't hard to make. Olivia Wilde's directing is a triumph, can't wait for the Criterion Channel to devote a playlist to her someday

One of the Best of the Year!

Booksmart is one of the best coming of age/comedy movie of the year. This is Olivia Wilde directorial debut and she nails it! The two leads (Kaitlyn Dever & Beanie Feldstein) are a delight to watch together and have great chemistry. The rest of the cast is great also, with Billie Lourd being a scene stealer. I like to think of this film as the "female version" of Superbad. This Blu-ray also comes with ac commentary track with Olivia Wilde and some nice extras. The picture quality and sound quality as to be expected with a new release like this are top notch. Give this one a watch!

This is it's own funny movie. Didn't know one of the girls is Jonah's sister so unfortunately that even makes it more where people compare this to SuperBad but it shouldn't be that way. Also the soundtrack is good, they definitely chose the music artists well to fit the scenes in the movie.

One of the most underrated films of 2019. Calling it a female version of Superbad is a disservice. Much smarter and more wit than that film.
