Best specs for budget no-contract phones!

I spent 2 weeks dissecting all no-contract phones Best Buy offers, and this phone met all specs really well and is a great phone for anyone shopping for a budget phone. Also known as the K7 through T-mobile, the Tribute 5 has a 5.0 screen (large for budget phones, and 1 of 3 that have this size in this category), a back and front camera that are both 5 pixels which is a great compromise rather than one side being poor quality and one really good, it has both USA and international compatibility, and because it's boost mobile, this phone gets whatever type of data speed it can get rather than only looking for 1 type. This way things will still load on 3g if that's all that's available, and 4g lte when it can. In my area it's very often. It has decent battery life, being in the 2000 range, and the processor is a good higher end processor for budget phones. The only downfall I noted was the ram is only 1gb, but it seems to work very well in spite of this.
If you are someone who has already graduated to a flagship phone and are looking for a no-contract phone, I would suggest this phone or the vista perhaps, but keep in mind that it will seem laggy to you if you are used to the best of the best. However, as someone who used to have a lower-end phone than this one, it has met and at times more than exceeded my expectations. Sometimes I need to be patient with it, and I make sure to use ccleaner every day or every other day, followed by clearing all recently used apps (that is important with this phone!), and restarting every one or two days to keep the network connection refreshed. This helps with speed a lot.
In terms of interface, I really like it. It feels clear, simple, but still retains more bells and whistles to customize things than usual with budget phones, which makes use even easier in my experience.
Also, this is a very Thin and Light phone for its category!! I'm constantly amazed by this. I personally enjoy the button placements on the back, and the headphone and power on the bottom.
I was able to find an array of phone cases for this phone online, not in store. If you look around enough you can find some really nice designs.
I receive a lot of compliments on my phone and people are usually surprised to learn it's technically a budget phone.
Call quality and sound seems to be okay. The speed of accessing and ending incoming and outgoing calls seems maybe 8 out of 10 on responsiveness. That is to say the popup of calls when you get a call is pretty decent and not really laggy. Its also nice that the screen stays dark until you raise it to see who's calling. Rotation response when on a call or watching a video has been good too!
The speaker for speakerphone and video has been okay. The volume is pretty loud if wanted, but it is cell-quality audio. Nothing too flashy in that department from what I have experienced but it does get the job done and volume is good!
Screen brightness and quality is really good! I like using battery saver to help and it dims the screen.
Overall a great phone for it's price and category.

First smart phone for ME and it works fine

This is the first smart phone for me, so there's been a big learning curve, but I like being able to search for things on Google, keep up with my auctions on eBay and have access to weather and my email.
So far the phone charge has been good, would have been nice to have gotten a cigarette charger with this so I could charge it in the car, but I picked one up cheap so no big deal there.
Has a 5mp camera that seems to take a decent picture, but then again I haven't checked them out on my computer yet. Camera feature for me so far has been a little frustrating as sometimes I can get it to take a picture and sometimes when I don't want it to take a pic, it'll take one. Maybe it's just me and my inexperience with camera phones like this one.
A book with this explaining how to use it would have been wonderful, but there is no book telling you how to do anything. Lucky for me my daughter helped me out a lot with figuring this phone out.
Would I buy it again. Yes. Would I recommend it to a friend. Yes.

I have had this phone for about a month now. My biggest problem is the double tap to turn on the screen. Because the only physical buttons are on the back, they made it so that when you double tap the screen it turns on. So when you handle the phone or fiddle with it in your purse or pocket, it is very possible to accidentally hit the emergency call which could be a different problem.
The phone looks great. It could be mistaken for one of the more expensive phones.
The camera only works good in bright settings. The focus is kind of slow and sometimes still not as clear as I want it. I have gotten some good pictures with a little more effort.
It does come with a lot of unnecessary apps, so to save memory I don't update them. I have only downloaded two apps and I still have about 3GB available.
It works fine so far and has not froze on me. The keyboard is not as smooth and accurate compared to my other phone but it is not a big problem.
Boost Mobile is good if you don't need actual person to person help. If you do, then it will be a hit or miss. I tried many attempts to get a live person but was always navigating through the touch tone menu and got nowhere. And when i finally did, the connection wasn't that clear. They were nice but it took awhile for them to finally set me up.

The Phone Works Great

The phone is great overall. It is kind of pricey. The background screen is well-lit and the great part is that you can download all kinds of apps. There are a few glitches like the Android update will pop up every 2-5 days. That is super annoying. Also, if you try and download some real-time videos, they may not come through, which is a bummer.

I paid about $60 for this phone. It belongs to my 13 year old daughter so it's been put to the test. She loves it and is pleased with the camera. I actually get to use my phone now(lg g5). She takes selfies regularly and has quite a few social media apps. You will want to get a memory card (16gb at least) because 8gb is not enough for many apps and pictures. I would definitely be okay using this phone for myself.

I bought this phone which by the way is a great phone and purchased the insurance because my husband is rough on phones. I was told by the sales person that all I needed should I need to use the insurance is the phone number. Well as I knew would happen he dropped it and broke screen. He took it to store and was basically called a liar and told that he did not purchase the insurance and he would have to buy a new one. This is the fourth phone we have bought from them but as rude and unprofessional as they were I will never do business with them again. This is the Sherman Texas location and I have heard similar stories from other people as well. If this continues they won't have much business left.

Phone works good, super easy to work with. Camera is only 5 mega pixels so don't expect alot. Overall good phone would be a good phone for someone new to smart phones or student in 6-8th grade. Doesn't work with sprint. Even though best buy will tell you it does.

Good value at a reasonable price. Good for basic smart phone without a budget. Also have a LG stylo 2 which if you can spend a little more is worth it but I would still recommend the Tribute 5 at that price point

A pretty nice phone, especially if its an upgrade. Display is nice and is pretty fast. Sadly you'll always be fighting low storage. Even if you add an SD card a lot of apps have to stay on phone storage.

So worth the money! I paid 130.00 for another Boost phone but it had real issues, which is why i bought this one. I was able to use this phone , virtually straight from the box. I just had to charge it. Great camera and recorder. Easy to use. Great. price. I'm glad i bought it.
