I've been using eReaders from before anyone heard of them. Tried them all. Kilndle Oasis 3 was the best. Till now. The Android 10 based Boox Nova 3 has the whitest background I've ever seen along with the sharpest print imaginable. Because it's Android I can read books from pretty much any bookseller, including Amazon, BN, Kobo, etc. You can fully control the refresh rate and most everything else. BTW, it comes with a pen to jut down handwritten notes on any book or blank page. Very impressed to say the least.

great e-ink tablet. it's more expensive than other tablets because it runs android. you can enable the google play store and install regular android apps on it. I use it with the shonen jump app, it required a little tweaking for the app to work properly, but it has been great.

good tablet for pure reading. A bit heavy to hold in one hand and read in bed. Some ghost images when you change the screen.

I don't like saying it, but the tech is just not there yet. I wanted e-ink because of blue light concerns, but this device is too laggy and too hard to integrate with my processes.
Keeps telling me I'm on the wrong network when. I try to use the android app on my phone. Tech support didn't really have any answers.
Like I said, this product needs more work.

To be clear, the three-star rating might suggest that I'm "meh" on this. But I definitely DO like it. I just don't LOVE it.
You probably already know the basics: it's a 7.8" e-ink e-reader that runs Android 10 so it can run any app from the Google app store. I get a kick out of the fact that it can display dynamic content (i.e. Youtube or animated images on web pages) but I bought this because I wanted a large-screen e-ink to read e-books, so that is 99% what I use it for, specifically the Kobo app and occasionally the native e-reader (which you can use to get free public-domain books, i.e. classics.)
In that light, the Nova 3 is....good. It's not GREAT. It's good. The software is functional enough. It's slow, so have patience when you're turning it on. You need to authoritatively press the icon for what you want to load or it won't sense it - probably a good thing.
The reader apps all have somewhat less functionality than their proprietary devices. That may or may not be obvious depending on how familiar you are with how these things work to begin with. The Kobo app, which is what I use most of the time, has far less flexibility as far as font and margin controls go compared to what you get on an actual e-reader. This is not a big problem for me - but it IS noticeable.
Physically, this is a bit uncomfortable to hold in one hand. The form factor is not quite as good as Barnes & Noble's Glowlight Plus which has the same screen size but also has physical buttons on both sides. The Nova 3 has a glass screen which helps it feel solid and hefty, but also means I would not carry this around on the go without a case. (It also means you get some sun glare.)
I am happy with the purchase but I admit that the concept of e-ink devices running Android is still a better idea than it is a practice. It'll get there in a few years, it's just not quite there yet.

Tried to grow to just like this. Couldn't get away from pricepoint vs performance. Its okay if you're an elitist and want to brag how much you wasted, but I'd rather get a tablet or Kindle and suffer through the little quirks rather than to waste my money on this.
