Just Borderlands Again

A fun game, but not up to par with the first two
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This game was developed by a different studio under the 2K label - I believe it's an Australian division of Gearbox. They had the full support of the team in the U.S., but that isn't the same thing as having a game developed by that team. The art direction is a bit questionable, with too many uses of similar color palettes, which can make it difficult to distinguish between enemy targets and background artwork at times. The gameplay isn't quite on par with the previous games. On the other hand, it does still have split-screen co-op, and the same irreverent attitude as the previous games. Many of the gameplay mechanics from the previous games are still present, and there are a couple of new features such as vacuum environments where living characters (not Claptrap) have to watch their oxygen levels, and ground-pounding slams in low-gravity environments. It might be ideal for someone who has never played the other games before, but for fans of the series it's still a worthwhile entry.
