Super loud. It's ridiculous and exactly what I was needing. We use ours at church. Great for bug rooms and outside events.
I would recommend this to a friend

I'm a professional mobile DJ and MC specializing in weddings. I used a single Bose L1 with two bass modules as my primary PA system for about 10 years. Today I still use it as a backup / ceremony system. One is PLENTY for the vast majority of mobile DJ events. I did find that for a large prom, or any event with more than about 300 people, it would be best to have two of these, or maybe consider a traditional cabinet system. But for the vast majority of 100-300 person events, one is perfectly adequate.
Like all portable line array systems, it provides great sound dispersion. The people in the back of the room can hear you just fine, without you needing to blast out the ears of the guests seated right in front of the speaker. They also draw significantly less current than a comparable cabinet system.
The system is incredibly quick and easy to set up. It's light weight and compact. The sound quality is incredible, as is to be expected with any Bose product. The bass response does leave a little bit to be desired - which is also pretty typical for Bose products. To be fair, they now offer the bigger, newer B2 bass units, which promise hugely improved bass response. If this is important to you, I'd look at that option instead.
I do wish that there were more options on audio input. The only option is quarter inch jack. There are no balanced XLR, RCA, 3.5mm jack, or bluetooth options.
