The Bose Lifestyle Ultra Wireless Subwoofer (a mouthful of a name), is simply excellent for what it is. It's designed to be used with Bose soundbars and speakers, specifically the new Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar and Speakers. I used it in a 7.1.4 configuration with the soundbar and speakers in my home theater, and it did much better than I was expecting given it is only about a 1x1x1 foot cube. It uses the same set-up as the previous Bose Bass Module 700, with a 10 inch up-firing driver and being ported on the bottom, which allows the sub to provide solid thump, while still staying remarkably clean at different volume levels. Bose quotes its CleanBass technology to eliminate resonance, which I think it does very successfully. The mark of a great sub for me is that is adds great low-end extension to movies and music, without making its presence really known. I can’t stand it when a sub really draws attention to itself and sounds boomy in a room, which is distracting. In the case of the Lifestyle Ultra Sub, it really cross-balances well with the soundbar and speakers so that it just feels like a natural extension of the whole package. You still get good room pressurization, but I never felt like the sub was drawing attention to itself. The opening of Edge of Tomorrow is one of my favorite bass tests, as it drops VERY low, and the Bose Sub did a good job of shaking my walls and furniture when it needed to. Similarly, the opening race in Ready Player One really expanded when I added the sub, bringing a much needed dimensionality to the sound with the extended low-end dynamic range. I would go as far as to say that, for people like me who really are discerning about audio quality, the sub is mandatory if you are using the soundbar. It just adds so much. Everything can be paired and tuned in the Bose app, and I had no issues at all getting it working. You can then adjust the sub volume if you want more of less presence from it, and keep it updated using the app. Really, the only complaint I have is the glass top of the sub is a dog fur and dust magnet in my house. It does add style, but you will want to have glass cleaner handy if you plan to have the sub in a visible spot. I also wish I could have added two subs to the home theater set-up, but hopefully that will come eventually, as my room is open-concept and so difficult to pressurize fully with just one sub. Otherwise, for everyone else, if you are looking to get the Lifestyle Ultra home theater speakers, this is just a must add. Very well done.

This Bose subwoofer is part of a system designed for your TV entertainment system, and kicks butt. The system sounds amazing. Perfect highs and mids with no distortions whatsoever. Setup was easy from a hardware perspective but setting up the app was initially problematic until Bose pushed out an update that enabled more customization for sound however the default found was just about perfect for me. To see this thing is loud is an understatement. I had the windows and the walls rattling in my living room and I could hear it coming from this living room to the front of the house. He gives the perfect theater experience in your own home. You can never go wrong with Bose. The sound is a complete warming sound for your home end it gets plenty loud with no distortions. It shakes my windows and walls in my living room and makes my pets hide in another room of the house. The best part is the sun quality you’re a perfect highs and mids with no distortion. Your neighbor may complain about the sound volume. As usual it’s hard to go wrong with Bose and you have a great experience with this sound system.

This Bose Lifestyle subwoofer is insane. It will shake the entire room if you let it. This thing adds that needed depth to your music and produces that low end bass for movies/TV shows when having it paired to your Bose soundbar. It made a huge difference to audio quality once I connected it. The soundbar itself can produce some bass but nothing to the extent of this sub. If you find it over powering or want to add more bass you can adjust its output in the Bose app. It seamlessly paired to my Bose Lifestyle sound bar and can be moved wherever I like due to being wireless. Note that it does work with the older Bose soundbars as well but you have to wire it. Peak build quality here. Its heavy, solid, and looks great. In fact it looks so good I feel bad about sticking it in the back of my room. Absolutely love the stylish look of the glass top. If you have or plan on getting the Bose Lifestyle soundbar make sure to pick this up. Especially if you have a mid sized to larger room. You will not regret it!

I've had multiple soundbars in the past and actually ended up switching to a receiver home theater setup a year or so ago so I could have a little more control over the sound delivery. I've got several Bose products (headphones and Bluetooth speakers) so I was anxious to get my hands on the new Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar from Bose. For review purposes I'm going to cover the 4 components as a system since the subwoofer and speakers are reliant on the soundbar for connectivity giving you a good 5.1 system. I received the following - - Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar - Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speakers (2) - Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer Out of the box it was really easy to use but I do have a complaint. Bose is pushing everything to phone apps and my wife doesn't really feel comfortable using apps. For the most part the setup went well, using the phone app on my phone I was able to get 2 of the 3 sound zones dialed in for listening levels about the room but for some reason the last one I could never get locked in. That really doesn't impact the performance of the soundbar, only the fine tuning for that zone. I also received the optional subwoofer and 2 surround speakers (all wireless except you do need a wall outlet for power). Linking everything in the app was painless, it recognized each speaker and the sub. You don't even need to worry which surround speaker is left or right because that swap is easily done via the app. Connecting is easy with a HDMI cable to the HDMI-ARC in/out on the TV to the HDMI-ARC in/out on the soundbar. You can also link via Bluetooth from a smart phone and it supports Airplay from Apple devices. I only wish it had an optical connection option. The app allows control of overall volume and an equalizer. We have DirecTV and using their remote I was able to add the soundbar to the remote via the DirecTV on TV settings. I have had issues with the soundbar not responding to the remote and sometimes even powering everything off and back on won't fix the issue so it's to the app to see if I can get the soundbar to respond to it. Unfortunately, my biggest gripe is that no remote is provided by Bose so if the TV provider remote isn't doesn't control and I'm not home at the time my wife will just have to do without and use the anemic TV speakers. I've scoured the internet to see if there is a better universal remote that I can use but haven't found one yet. Now on to the sound... paired with the Lifestyle speakers and subwoofer you get a really wonderful sound stage. I've had to knock down the subwoofer a bit due to it being a bit much for some shows, mainly action movies, rattle the windows but in a good way for my taste but not so much my wife's. The Lifestyle Ultra Speakers as surrounds provide very good response with very rich sound providing that really good engulfing sound.

I just posted my review for the entire Bose Lifestyle Ultra system including the soundbar, subwoofer and rear speakers so this review will be for the subwoofer itself. First off, this subwoofer is a beast. Bose has apparently made some improvements over the current Bose 700 sub as the new sub is about 4lbs heavier than the 700 weighing in at just under 34lbs and may use a slightly larger woofer. Bose claims they improved the radios in the sub for better connectivity. The sub looks the same, which is fine as it is a great looking sub. I received the black version, and the sub has a black cabinet with a glass top and is very aesthetically pleasing. At a little under 12 inches square and 13 inches high it makes placement easy. The sub can be added to the Bose app and then paired with the Lifestyle Ultra soundbar wirelessly or there is a 3.5mm input so it can be wired to the soundbar. I have had no issues with wireless connectivity. Bose uses what they call Quiet Port technology to reduce port chuffing and distortion, and I have not been able to get the sub to misbehave at all. The sub is very impressive. This thing goes low and I mean low. It blends seamlessly with the soundbar and adds a whole other dimension to the overall experience. During the process of setting up the soundbar and subwoofer there was an issue with the CustomTune function in the app and it was not working so I made separate adjustments in the app to increase the volume of the sub. After several conversations with Bose, I received a firmware update that fixed CustomTune. One thing I forgot to include in my soundbar review is the fact that there is no option to turn off automatic updates which I think is a misstep on Bose’s part. There have been too many issues lately with updates causing issues with TV’s and soundbars. I prefer to wait until I am sure something is not going to cause problems updating firmware. Since you can’t turn off Wi-Fi without shutting down the system an option to turn off updates would be beneficial. Before running CustomTune I reset all previous settings to zero and ran calibration. After running calibration there was no need to make any other changes although you can. Although the soundbar performs very well on its own I feel strongly that this subwoofer is a must have if you want to get the most out of the system. I can definitely see why it is priced at $899. It performs at this level.

I have to say, I am really loving the Bose Lifestyle Ultra products, specifically the Ultra Subwoofer. I have used this setup to replace my apple homepods which was my Atmos sound. The Ultra Subwoofer brings a whole other level of sound amplitude to my movie watching experience. Linking it together with the Soundbar and the speaker....OMG these things create a whole new dynamic for me. This subwoofer might be the most aesthetically pleasing subwoofer I have seen (majority of them are ugly) this one is rather nice. Not only is the outside beautiful but the inside of it is incredible as it offers unbelievable clarity that completely rocks my living space when watching movies. When watching war movies or anything that needs a good sub, the room rumbles and shakes and it fully immerses you. If you are an audiophile you need to look into the entire set of the Bose Lifestyle Ultra products because they are Ultra and despite the cost (which is reasonable) you are receiving a truly ultra experience.

I recently upgraded my home theater setup with the new Bose Lifestyle Ultra Wireless Subwoofer paired with the matching Lifestyle Ultra soundbar and rear speakers. Right out of the box, it feels well built. Not a little plastic box in black. This thing is heavy—weighing in at a hefty 33 to 34 pounds. Thankfully, Bose actually included lifting handles in the packaging to help get it out of the box. That along with ecofriendly packaging, much like the soundbar and speakers. Design-wise, it’s shiny and matches the modern aesthetic of the soundbar. It has a sleek, premium matte finish on the sides and a beautiful, thick glass top plate that makes it look more like a elegant statement piece than a boring piece of audio equipment. It also comes in both black and white to match your decor. The negative is that glossy glass top is a massive dust and fingerprint magnet. I’ve had to clean it several times in the weeks I’ve owned it. Setting it up was mostly a breeze. It requires the Bose smartphone app. You just plug the subwoofer into a power outlet - no massive, ugly power bricks to hide, because of the included C7 connector power cord - and open up the mobile app. The app immediately detected the subwoofer and let me group it into a "Home Theater" setup wirelessly. It took a few minutes to download and install a firmware update right at the start but then we were off and running. I ran the Room Calibration feature called CustomTune. It emits a series of tones, and you use your phone to calibrate the sound based on your favorite seating positions. One of the steps requires you to place the phone atop of the soundbar. It balances the audio to the exact layout in your room. I didn’t notice the occasional finickiness or issues that some others have reported, luckily I guess. Everything connected, updated, restarted, and has been rock-solid since setup. Recently, I successfully remapped the rear surround channel assignments to correct the left/right orientation. You can also tweak the sound manually with a basic equalizer for Treble, Mids, and Bass. You can also adjust the volume of the center, height, surrounds, and subwoofer level. I didn't feel that I had to increase the subwoofer level above zero but I might experiment on a case by case level and see how that sounds. According to Bose, the Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer features the same acoustic design as the Bass Module 700. However, it includes updated wireless technology for a more stable connection and has been “lightly” fine-tuned to deliver an improved soundstage when paired with the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar. Note that I haven't listened to the Bass Module 700 so I have no history to compare. I just thought this information was important for those thinking of upgrading from the previous model. Overall, the bass is pretty deep, robust, weighty, but—most importantly—it is perfectly clean and balanced. I assume that because of Bose's CleanBass technology, there is absolutely zero distortion, rattling, or annoying "boomy" audio bleed, even when you crank the volume up. When watching movies, the bangs feel tight and punchy, while those big suspenseful moments bring that low, rumble that literally vibrates the floor but not in an annoying way and emphasizes the moment rather than takw you out of it. It definitely helped to make the experience more immersive versus not having the subwoofer connected. The Ultra subwoofer handles low frequencies well, bringing out rich bass lines in songs but drowning the vocals or other instruments. Voices remain clear to point I didn't need subtitles on for the majority of media I watched. The subwoofer is not cheap - Bose tax - and buying the entire home theater system is a real big investment, but might be worth it for those that want to either get real movie capable bass or want the complete surround sound experience and impression. While it is technically backward-compatible with older Bose soundbars via a 3.5mm wired line-in cable, you are paying for the wireless capability so you can use it alongside the Lifestyle Ultra series. If you already have the soundbar, this subwoofer is a recommended upgrade. It frees up the rest of your speakers to focus on the mids and highs, transforming your living room into a very capable home theater. I'm very happy with it.

I added the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer to the Bose Ultra Soundbar setup and it completely changed the experience in the best way possible. The first thing I noticed was how powerful the bass was without sounding messy or overwhelming. The room literally rumbled during certain scenes, but it still sounded controlled and clean instead of just shaking everything for no reason. Watching Interstellar with this setup was incredible. You don’t just hear the soundtrack and effects, you actually feel them. The subwoofer blends really well with the soundbar. Everything feels balanced and synchronized instead of sounding like separate speakers trying to compete with each other. When testing the subwoofer through the Bose app, the response is instant and the bass kicks in immediately. One of my favorite things about it is the wireless setup. Other than the power cable, there are no extra wires running across the room. The subwoofer connected wirelessly to the system and communicated well with the rest of the setup once everything was configured properly. Wireless home theater setups are just so much cleaner and easier to work with. The design also feels very premium in person. It has the same glossy black finish as the soundbar which gives it a sleek modern look. It is definitely a heavy subwoofer, but that’s expected with quality bass modules like this. What really impressed me most is how much this changed the overall home theater experience. When the bass hits, it completely transforms movies, music, and games. Action scenes feel more immersive, music feels fuller, and everything just has more impact overall. I honestly don’t have many negatives so far. Once connected, it has been stable and reliable. If you already own the Bose Ultra Soundbar, I would absolutely recommend adding this subwoofer to complete the setup.

The Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer made a massive difference in my overall home theater setup. I already loved the soundbar by itself, but once I connected the subwoofer, everything immediately sounded fuller, deeper, and much more immersive. The bass is powerful without sounding muddy or overpowering. It adds a clean, rich depth to movies, gaming, and music that you can really feel throughout the room. Action scenes have a lot more impact now, and music sounds far more balanced and cinematic. I also appreciate that Bose focused on both performance and design. The subwoofer has a sleek, modern look that blends in nicely instead of looking bulky or cheap. It feels very premium and well built. Setup itself was fairly easy overall, although I did experience some connectivity issues initially with the Bose app while pairing everything together. The app struggled to recognize all components at first and required a couple reconnects and updates before everything synced correctly. That part was a little frustrating considering the premium price point, but once the setup was completed, the system has been performing extremely well. One thing I really like is that the bass stays controlled and clean even at higher volumes. It never feels distorted or overwhelming. Instead, it complements the soundbar perfectly and creates a much more theater like experience at home. Watching movies honestly feels more immersive now, especially during action scenes, sports, and concerts. Overall, I’ve been very impressed with the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer. Despite the small setup frustrations in the beginning, the sound quality and performance absolutely make up for it. If you want deeper, more premium sounding bass that enhances your entire entertainment setup, this is definitely worth considering.

The Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer is a necessary addition to the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar. I cannot stress enough about the difference this product makes. Design: I know most people don’t care what a subwoofer looks like. It will likely be in a little hidden spot by your entertainment center that’s barely visible collecting dust. However, I love the boxy shape of this thing. Most subwoofers nowadays are tall rectangles and it kind of drives me nuts. I understand why, it’s so they fit better into your space. The problem is boxier subwoofer housings actually produce better sound. I can say this based on experience. When you have a single sub in a box, you want a big boxy shape, not a thing rectangle. It allows the air to move around more and create that deep thud instead of a thinner sound. Mad props to Bose for again choosing function over form. Connectivity: It connects to the soundbar. That’s about it. I had no problems getting it setup wirelessly, and there’s even an option to connect it with a cable. According to the Bose website, it’s backwards compatible with other Bose soundbars if you use a cable connection. I could not verify that since I only used it with the Bose Lifestyle Ultra. Audio: This is a no brainer. Listen, buy this soundbar if you buy the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar. This is not a small difference in audio experience, it’s the entire difference. I pretty much summarized it in the design portion of my review, but the boxy design generates some incredibly deep thud sound. Many times these home theater subs are a really poor attempt to create a decent bass presence. Bose clearly knew they wanted to provide a premium offering here and they did not miss the mark. Once you combine this with the rear speakers and the soundbar, you get a truly powerful home theater experience.
