Get you a pair
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the headphones overall. I'm starting to travel more and I had been hesitant to go with noise cancelling headphones until they were wireless. I've tried other brands, but the Bose are comfortable after extended wear. The sound quality is great. Not for the audiophile of course. The noise cancelling makes a world of difference on the plane. Yes, you still hear voices but it's the low hums that are more of a drain on me. Plus, once you have your source playing, the voices drown away too. The new button for Google Assistance is a nice touch. Not sure how much l'll use it, but we'll see. It's good to have the option. The companion Bose app is nice for management of the headphones. You can adjust the noise cancelling levels. I wish it had EQ settings but didn't notice any. I wish the materials where more luxurious, i.e.-metals over plastic, but oh well. It may have added to the weight too much and thus impacted the long term comfort I appreciate. Five Year Update: I finally had to replace the ear cushions as they were starting flake. Not bad really that the originals lasted that long

Best all around Bluetooth headphone.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose QC35 is essentially a wireless version of the QC25 which I found to be one of the best portable headphones due to its insane noise isolating abilities and very good sound quality. Can Bose take this experience further? We’ll see… The packing box is very clean and straight forward showing the QC35 on the front, Bose logo on the sides and details on the features such as Bluetooth and active noise cancellation on the back in various languages. The packaging opens by sliding out the contents in which inside it the manuals, warranty registration and the carrying case. Within the, you’ll find the micro-USB charging cable to replenish the built in battery that can last up to 20 hours on Bluetooth and 40 hours on wired connection. Also, you have the 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable to provide a wired connection if you do not wish to use Bluetooth or the battery dies altogether. The QC35 is folded up neatly in the main compartment as well as an airplane adapter for receiving audio. The QC35 in the current silver finish I have is a very handsome and professional looking headphone that will look good on just about anyone and any style. The ear cups pivot and rotate very freely allowing for a very snug and comfortable fit. Headband adjustment has individual clicks to ensure precise extension along with a generous amount of leeway for larger heads. The padding on the ear cups are of synthetic memory foam based leather which feels very soft to the touch around the ears. The speakers are angled to improve comfort as well as creating a more natural acoustic delivery to the ears improving soundstage perception. The inner part of the headband is made of alcantara which is a very luxurious form of suede found in sports cars. This is coupled with the same synthetic leather from the ear cups on the outer headband portion. Like with recent trends, the footprint of the QC35 is pretty much identical to the QC25 despite housing more circuitry inside. Construction is comprised of a specialized plastic that is a glassed-filled resin with metals in common stress areas resulting in a pretty confident feeling headphone in terms of everyday use. Flicking the power switch to the middle turns on the QC35 in which it will auto connect to 2 previously connected devices. Holding the switch to the far right for 2 seconds puts it in pairing mode in which it is ready to pair. On the right ear cup is the volume up, play/pause, skip tracks, answering and hanging up phone calls and volume down button. Also, there is the micro-USB charging port and NFC ready pairing chip and over on the left ear cup is the 2.5mm port. It’s usually always the smartest decision to wait and make sure you’ve developed something that you can proudly say is your best effort. I think that is something Bose has genuinely done with the QC35. This is most likely the best all-around portable headphone on the market today for the mass public looking in the premium category. No, it’s not the best sounding or the best looking or the most well-built headphone, however, it scores quite high in all of those categories which makes it such a safe recommendation. First and foremost is the active noise cancellation capability of the QC35 which I believe is just a tiny bit better than the QC25 particularly in the area of hiss and signal to noise ratio. Now, the eerie silence is even more prevalent because the hiss produced by the electronic circuity is pretty much near or possibly undetectable. This is by far the best active noise cancelling available on the market. This coupled with a very balanced sound signature and a surprisingly open and well-crafted soundstage results in quite possibly the best possible sound experience you can get when outside in moderately to highly noisy environments without having to stick something into your ears. The treble and bass of the QC35 adjusts depending on the volume. At lower volume a happy EQ forms boosting the bass and treble to compensating for the human ears and the fletcher munson curve. At higher volumes, the bass and treble becomes more balanced and in line with the midrange. I primarily listen more towards higher volumes. Dissecting more into the sound we’ll begin with the bass which is present, relatively even toned and extends pretty well into the deepest notes. It has composure for the most part, but when music gets complicated, it does sound a bit loose and slightly muddy. Midrange here is very nicely presented. Clean, clear and open. Vocals and instruments sound very convincing and the sense of depth is heightened by the sound signature but most importantly the angled drivers creating that acoustical effect that sound is coming to you from in front. Treble is also clear and open, but with a tad bit of grain that only really comes about when the music becomes complex. Overall, the sound is quite simply great and this is over Bluetooth connection. When wired, the sound is a bit more focused and the bass gains a bit more composure. Now, when factoring in the great sound quality along with the stunning active noise cancelling and amazing comfort and neutral and handsome look, the QC35 is hard to fault and has earned my recommendation for those looking for the best all-around Bluetooth headphone.

Bose continues the Legacy of Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking to retire my QC 15 wired headphones and wanted to go wireless. I'd previously explored several different models and brands and decided to hold off. While in Best Buy yesterday, I discovered the demo display and was immediately hooked. These are not only comfortable but look sharp and the sound is truly amazing for a wireless headphone. The noise cancelling is top notch and perfect for air travel. You will find the bluetooth pairing quick and easy. It came out of the box 70% charged and the remaining 30 % charged within about 45 minutes via the included USB cable. The carrying case is small and seems well made. The QC 35 is a winner in my book!

Simply Amazing!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are by far the nicest headphones I've ever owned. They have great sound; loud and clear. They easily connected to my iPod touch and to my LG Android smartphone. The noise cancellation works great as well. I've used noise cancelling headphones for a long time (Sony brand) and these are much better and cancel out noise a lot better. There are volume buttons and a play/pause button right on the headphones, so you don't need to grab your device to change the volume or to play/pause. You can also skip to the next song or go back to the previous song by pushing on of the buttons multiple times. These can also be used as a wireless headset, as they have a built in microphone in them as well. I made a quick call to test them and it worked flawlessly. They came about 3/4 charged, so I finished charging them which only took about 30 minutes, so I'd guess that they would fully charge from 0% in 2 hours or less. Unfortunately, I haven't used them for very long yet, so I can't speak on how long a full charge actually lasts. You can download the Bose connect app, which I haven't done yet as the app wasn't compatible with my iPod Touch 4th Generation. I will however download it on my phone eventually. These headphones fit very comfortably and cover my ears fully, which is great considering usually I have a hard time finding headphones that fully cover my ears. These headphones are great and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. I look forward to using them for a long time!

Excellent sound quality, not so intuitive controls
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose has long been a leader in the world of sound and has yet another winner on its hands with its newest Quiet Comfort 35 series II wireless headphones. These are the gold standard of headphones, with amazingly clean highs and a nice balance of bass and mid-range frequencies. Add to that a very solid build, well thought out ergonomics on the controls and one of the most comfortable design of any closed-ear headphone and you are hard pressed to find much to complain about. OK. Maybe one little quibble. The annoying tendency of almost every product made these days to require an app for setup and instructions. These headphones are no exception although truthfully, most of the functionality does not require the app. Unfortunately, since it comes with zero instructions, other than how to turn it on, you MUST download the app just to figure out how everything works. There are a few things that are not entirely intuitive, like an "action" button on the left side that can either control the level of noise cancelation -- off, low or high -- or allow voice interaction with Google Assistant. You still have to launch that yourself with your smartphone but it does work. Built in voice prompts on the action button are a nice touch but do not tell the entire story. There's also a multifunction button between the up and down volume toggles that does different things depending on how often you tap it or how long you hold it down. That would be things like pausing songs, skipping them and answering or rejecting phone calls. More importantly, the bluetooth pairing is far from intuitive, requiring a special sequence of steps if you are pairing with more than one device. Geez. Just provide some printed instructions for crying out loud. Overall, however, this is a very nice package. The headphone build seems very good, with one side foldable so it can fit in the included hard-side carrying case. It's quite nice, padded and zippable to provide protection while traveling. A very short USB charging cable is included and probably best used with a regular USB phone charger (you have to provide your own), since charging from a USB port on a computer is hit or miss. Unlike nearly everyone else these days, Bose is still using the the standard old micro USB connection on the headphone instead of the new USB C so any old phone charging cables you have laying around would work. Charging time is about 2 and a half hours and Bose said that will keep the headphones running for about 20 hours. Not bad. You can get 40 hours if you use a wired instead of a wireless connection. Bose products are never cheap but if you can afford it, this is a good way to go when it comes to headphones.
