I'll try not to bore you with my qualifications. A SONY fan and die-hard Analog engineer, I tested many Automatic Noise Canceling (ANC) headsets and their chipsets in an anechoic chamber prior to retiring. I've avoided buying my own because the price/performance didn't fit my needs. The (Hybrid) Digital MDR-1000x noise cancellation beats the (Hybrid) Analog flagship Bose QC-35. Hybrid means a headset with both outside and inside microphones. Outside mics characterize delay time and attenuation of the headset's passive sound absorption, reducing the burden on the inside mics and improving cancellation. The key to improved performance are the Digital filters whose firmware can be factory-tweaked and even self-tweaked on the fly to reduce the last bit of noise, especially impulse noise, like speech. The pads aren't as comfortable as my 35 year old MDR-V6s, but I understand improved foam pads are available for the MDR-1000s. IMPORTANT - I couldn't understand why my new headsets shut OFF every 5 minutes. I thought I hadn't charged them or the battery was bad. Only after I visited the Sony Community, did I find they automatically shut OFF to save power, if either they aren't in Bluetooth Mode or nothing is plugged into the female 3.5 mm audio jack. A tiny, unobtrusive dummy 3.5 mm male plug works just fine. It prevents Auto-Turnoff and shuts OFF Bluetooth, placing the headset in flight-safe Airplane Mode. Just be aware that the jack has a recessed entry-way that doesn't let many 3.5 mm plugs mate properly. Notice the straight end of the Sony-provided cable - the plastic diameter is reduced where it meets the Gold. When it isn't mentioned in Reviews, the Wordless User Manual or by the Best Buy Sales Associate(s), the Auto-Turnoff feature is going to REALLY p--s off many new buyers. It did me. Sony's "What-me Worry?" response so far is troublesome. They're still a great product. 4 stars instead of 5 for the Auto-Turn-off debacle. and the dumb Wordless User Manual. I know it was meant to be Universal, but how does a Wordless User Manual explain Auto-Turnoff?

These hands down are best headphones I have ever owned. Once you listen to anything Bose you will be hooked. The pairing is easy the app on the iTunes store is easy to understand. Everything about these are amazing. Great sound, great comfort, and most important LONG battery life.

By far above and beyond the best noise cancelling headphones on the market. While the Sony's might have a lower price point, the noise cancelling and the comfort of this pair puts it far above anything else. An absolute must have for anyone who flies frequently.

Upgraded from QC15. Sound is better, controls on the right earpiece are way more conveinient for me when flying, Battery life is very long (14 hours of flights and still at 50%) and no more hinting for AAA batteries, and the new case design is smaller. Highly recommend.

I have had several Bose Headphones and these are simply the best. The sound quality is outstanding and wireless is a fantastic feature. The built in mic sound is great. Buy them you can't go wrong. I have brought 3 and given them for gifts, everyone loves them.

These have been the best earphones yet! I'm here today looking for the model number so I can replace the ear-foam, these still perform great

I love how Bose has now a wireless headphone with noise canceling feature. The battery life on these are amazing. I tested the noise canceling feature by cutting the grass. It totally makes the lawn mowers noise a lot less tolerable. Great job Bose

My old QC-25 headphones were finally wearing out from overuse (ear pads were falling apart). I was planning a very long plane trip in a few months, so I went shopping for new noise-cancelling headphones. Of course I now wanted wireless. But at the time, only Sony made wireless, noise-cancelling headphones. I went to Best Buy with the intention of buying the Sony, and the salesman convinced me that they weren't as comfortable for long trips as the Bose, nor were they as effective. I almost bought the wired Bose. But I figured that, if Sony now made them wireless, Bose couldn't let them corner the market for very long. So I waited. And, two weeks before my vacation, Bose came out with the QC-35s. And I bought them. Just about everything about them is fantastic - fidelity, noise reduction, usability, convenience. But I have a couple of issues. The QC-25s use a AAA battery. It's no big deal to stick a few extras in the case and be ready for many dozens of hours. If a battery runs down, I just replace the battery. And one battery seems to last close to forever anyway. The QC-35 has a rechargeable battery. There's not always a convenient place to charge it up when you're on a long trip. And it doesn't even include a charger, just a cable to plug into a USB charger. Since no one goes on a long trip where re-charging the headphones would be required without taking their mobile phone charger, this isn't a major deficiency. But it seems that for $350 they could have included a plug-in charger and even some international adapters instead of just the cable. So, two issues, both related to the powering of the unit - I'd prefer regular batteries, and with a rechargeable battery, they should have included the power part of the charger.

These are incredible headphones. The noise canceling is like entering a different world, and is almost magical. The band is comfortable and doesn't cause any discomfort even after hours listening to them, although the ear cups do get warm. The only real downside is the lows that the headphones provide. It is definitely underwhelming, and I wish my music had a bit more punch. I do think they are excellent other than that though!

Excellent headphones. I had beats studios before these and let me just say the difference is breathtaking how much better these are. Price is heavy but when you start to use them you can definitely tell that they are worth it.

I typically don't write many reviews, but I have to on these. I bought them 5 hours ago and haven't taken them off. The noise cancelling combined with Bluetooth is phenominal. Currently I own the OE3's Noise Cancels and Sound Sports which are awesome, but these take the cake. I do want to mention something. At first I liked them a lot, but noticed white noise and could hear my fan. I was kind of disappointed. I did some research and found there was an update on these headphones. I had to plug into computer and went to Bose system update center. The headphones now have the new software version I think 1.05 and everything is now perfect. Sound has improved and no white noise. These are the best Bose ever!!

Great fit around the ear. Not just your run of a mill round headphone around the ear. The fit is comfortable and the sound is so crisp and clear.

These headphones are EXACTLY what I was looking for! Active Noise Cancelling, Wireless, Bluetooth. These Bose headphones are perfect in every way, could not be happier!

I love them the sound is so incredible, so quite and confort. I have the bose quite confort 35 on my ears for long periods of time don't get tired of wearing it.

Sound is great, and noise canceling works wonders!! They are confortable for long periods of studying, but if you have headaches problems the Noise canceling feature may bother a little with time, so I prefer to use them without the noise canceling activated, and it still cancels most of the noise!!

I bought a set of QC15's about 4 years ago, and was perfectly content with them until my wife drug me into a Bose store, and I listened to these. The sound was amazing, and I liked that they were wireless. I purchased them about two weeks ago, and have been listening to them almost nonstop. Syncing to my iphone was very easy, and I love how when it's synced my phone has a display showing the battery life on the QC35's Noise cancellation on these is unbelievable. It was tough spending $350 for these, but like all Bose products, you're buying a quality item that will last years to come.

Great sound as to be expected from BOSE. The noise cancelling on these blew me away. I recently used them on a 15 hour flight to China and then a six hour flight to Thailand. Not only did they deliver great sound (the provided airplane jack adapter is a great idea) the silence when not using the entertainment system let me sleep longer than any other flight I've taken. These replaced a set of BOSE QC20 and I don't regret the upgrade. My wife, who could care less, checked them out before we left on our trip. She loved my QC 35s so much, she bought them for herself.

I have had the QC 15's for the last 7 years and they have served me well for those years. I was looking for the wireless option and being in a noisy office the noise cancellation was a must have. I am amazed yet again on the sound Bose can produce on headphones. Crisp, clean, perfect highs and lows. The noise cancellation again is supreme to all others. I know the price can be a shocker but you cannot beat these on sound quality and the perfection at which they block out the outside world. They nailed the QC 35's and I am so glad I decided to upgrade.

This are my first noise cancelling Headphones & I absolutely love them!! I previously owned the small version of Bose that were not noise cancelling but they fell apart so I had to get a new ones & I am so glad that happened I connect them to my TV & wow amazing I get to watch my favorite shows without the noise of the airplanes(I live close the airport). Incredible it comes with a protective case. & btw they do work with PlayStation VR connected with the cable even on a party. they are pricey but worth it! would definitely recommend this product!

I'll keep this short. I did a lot of analysis before making my purchase as this wasn't some trivial purchase. Every review I read put these at the top of the list. After purchasing them I have absolutely no regrets. I read a lot of reviews indicating the bass wasn't that great, but I have no complaints. I'm a 40+ year old male that listens to everything from hard rock to country. Everything sounds great on these headphones. I have no hesitations with highly recommending these headphones. Go ahead, buy them. You will not regret it.
