I would only recommend this to the very beginner who wants to get into flash photography, but if you ever plan to do anything serious with it, you should get one that offers manual mode. It technically can be used as an off camera flash, but it is not a good idea, as you can not adjust the power. With new batteries the recycling takes about 1-2 seconds, but it can get as low as 7 seconds when the batteries get drained. The shoe mount is very plasticky and feels like it could break off any moment. The 270 degree rotation it does is good though. Overall I think it could help you learn about how flash photography works and what you need from the next flash you buy.

Hard to beat for the price. Of course, you give up some features, like adjustable flash power, and I feel like I have to be careful when attaching it to the camera so I won't break it. When you consider that it has a tilting and rotating head and zoom, it's a great deal.

This is a great external flash for indoor events, you will need some sort of diffuser for it otherwise it will be to much exposure for your pictures.

It's definitely a minimal flash. But what can you expect for $40. It got the job done, no problem.

This flash works perfectly on my Nikon D3000. It synced up with no issue and is everything I expected.

It was advertised by Best Buy as working on Sony Alpha. Perhaps they might state that you will need an adaptor....which defeats the purpose of buying this one that is supposed to fit without an adaptor.

These a basic flashes in that you don't have much control over them. You can set them to go off based on 1 or 2 flashes (based on the flash type on the camera). As for that, no other adjustments, that is the reason for the 4 stars, but if this it what you need and works, they are 5 star worthy. Nice and bright and have worked for all of my projects to date.
