Great product over all. Great price, easy to set up and the extended battery life helps out on long days of photography. The only thing I don't like is that even though it works great on the Nikon D3200 the battery compartment door when removed from the camera does not fit snug in the holder for the door in the battery grip.

I use my power grip with only one battery, only because I do not have a second battery, and it works great. It was easy to put on my camera and easy to use. I keep it turned on and plugged in at all times so its ready if and when I need to use it. It didn't add to much weight to my camera which is a plus when you have a somewhat heavy DSLR.

I researched this grip and found it to be exactly what I was looking for. Easy to change out the batteries and I love the fact that it holds 2 batteries. Don't know how I functioned without it.

The grip adds an additional shutter button, double battery life, and a remote which makes it very universal.

I use this item with a Nikon D3100. The texture of the plastic and the rubber on the base match the design of my camera exactly. It has a good solid feel and does not throw off the balance of the camera even with both batteries installed. The shutter button is in a very natural place when used in the vertical position. Although the button has a sightly different feel from the one on the camera, it does have the halfpress (focus)/ full press (shoot) function. If installed according to the directions, the camera will still display battery information as originally designed. The unit also has a built in storage slot for the camera battery door so the door does not get misplaced. The IR remote is a nice feature esp because the D3100 does not have a remote nor any provisions for one that I have been able to find. Now the minor issues. The inital fit was a little sloppy until everything was lined up and the screw is tightened down. After that it is rock solid. The battery fit is also a little sloppy until they lock in place with the built in spring clips then they are held firmly in place. You do have the choice to use one battery or two batteries at the same time. You do not have to keep two batteries in at all times. Another reviewer stated the short connector cable that is needed to use the shutter realease and the remote did not have 90 degree connectors, the unit I purchased has 90 degree connctors on both ends making the cable very low profile. NOTE: you do not need o use the short cable for the battery function, only to use the side shutter release or the remote.

Good battery grip for current entry level Nikons

For the unitiated, this carries two EN-EL14 batteries, the same as used inside of you SLR, in a larger carrier underneath your camera. It also provides a shutter release for shooting in portrait orientation, and an IR remote and sensor for triggering your camera remotely. This will fit the Nikon D3100, D5100 and D3200, as of this writing, and after doing quite a bit of research and holding several in my hand at local camera shops, this Bower seemed the way to go. It is slimmer than virtually all of the others options, and feels more solid in your hand, closer to the actual camera body. but it offers much improved handling even in landscape orientation, where my pinky finger really gets sore on my D5100's small grip. With larger lenses, this really nicely balances the camera. The bottom is ribbed like the camera itself, and it does include its own tripod lug - although it is offset from the lens and the camera's own lug. The shutter release is good, but not great, and has a bit more play in it than the Nikon's. Because none of these cameras were designed to be used with a battery grip, it needs a small cable to connect to the camera and enable the vertical shutter release. In this one, the cable is very short - so short it pretty much precludes the use of the GP-1 GPS at all. It also lacks right angle connectors, so I am somewhat concerned about durability of the cable. However, a 2.5 mm TRS extension cable would solve this problem and I do plan on finding and purchasing one. Although I don't own a D3200 body, the cable is so short that I am unsure that it will connect. All in all, if you want a battery grip and choose to use the entry level Nikon bodies, this is an excellent choice. Small flaws, but overall very much the best in the field.

This a fairly simple power grip. It connects to the camera easily and I don't have any problems. It just seems to lose the charges of the batteries a little faster than it should.
