Because I had a tripod with the older model, I bought this hoping I could detach the clamp and sure enough it did and fit right on the tripod. This way I didn't have to buy the same light and end up with an extra tripod lol. There's 3 different light setting and you can adjust the brightness. Only issue I had was the weight of the light might cause your laptop to tip over or close if it's clamped on your laptop screen but it was perfect for my existing tripod. It's a USB connection so you may beed an adapter to plug into whatever computer or system you are using. It's cheaply made but works great

Tested on multiple computers and power adapters, so the problem is definitely in the product. And despite having 1 year warranty, emails, inquiries via the website, and calls to customer service have gone unanswered (called 3 times. The first two times was disconnected, the third time was able to leave a message, and a week later it has gone unanswered. Avoid this product—and Bower as a company—altogether.
