My first unit was defective. I took it back to Best Buy, and they cheerfully and apologetically exchanged for a new unit that functions fine. The sound is very, very good (high end quality). The remote control could be better. Switching from one input to another could be improved. Other than that, the Panorama is great to see, and its sound is excellent.

This system I gave my brother for his home. A bigger system would take up too much room. Also he isn't very techy. Setup is easy.
Sound is great, give a true sound, not just heavy thumps of bass, but real bass.
Worth the cost.

It would go really well with an external sub connected to it, that way also to help separate the base the soundbar try's to shoot out which is highly impressive might I add. Not so 3 dimensional in terms of sound though sadly in the room we have it in, which is very wide.

Couldnt get malfunctioning Speaker remote replaced, inspite of several calls to GeekSquad/Home theatre support ...They repeatedly put me on hold and hung up! Never called back or followed-up. Never will I buy GSP protection plan , as its practically non-existent. Very disappointed with BB.

We have a large living room with 12 foot ceilings and a lot of furniture and we did not want a lot of wires and speakers everywhere yet we wanted studio quality sound for movies,tv and music.I have owned B+W speakers in the past coupled with high end audio systems and I did not expect this sound bar to sound quite as good.
I first heard this at a Magnolia showroom-it was sitting in the midst of a home theater system several thousand dollars more expensive.Asthetically, this is a gorgeous piece of equipment.I asked the sales associate,Mark at Best Buy in Nashua,NH(awesome and knowledgeable young man)to please switch to the Panorama from the $5000 + system .When he informed me that it was already on and the sounds I heard absolutely everywhere was from the Panorama.I WAS IMMEDIATLEY SOLD ON IT.
Not too many words can describe it but I think that anyone that hears this will all say the same thing-PURE JOY.You will marvel at the beauty and sound reproduction of this Panorama and will want to show it of to friends and family-I did and here is what I could see in everyone's faces-PURE JOY and AMAZEMENT.
Pros-construction,beauty,weight,bass,treble,easy set up and B+W precision engineering.
Cons-just one-it makes you want to couple it with the largest best television you can find........

I am not someone who generally writes reviews but I feel compelled to do so here. I have been looking for a sound solution for some time now. I have had different surround sound packages in the past but my current living room doesn't really allow for speakers all over the place (neither does the Mrs.). This led me down the soundbar path since our TV is mounted over the fireplace. The problem is that most don't sound much better than the TV speakers. A few weeks ago a Best Buy rep showed me this soundbar and I was immediately impressed - and also immediately scared by the price so I walked away. I went to differnent home theater stores and there were some other solutions but the cost was about the same and it would have been much more cumbersome. I kept coming back to this and finally pulled the trigger and I could not be happier! It's amazing how much the sound fills the room from such a small sound bar! I bought Transformers to get a movie sample and it was amazing - I can feel the vibrations through the floor at only half volume.
Bottom line, if you are considering this and it's in your price range but you're scared it won't be worth the price - don't be. This will not disappoint. Thank you Joe at the McKinney store for helping me make my final decision - couldn't be happier with it!!!

I receive this soundbar yesterday and it sound great. No need for a added subwoofer because it have alot of thunder for a soundbar. I got a good deal on it and plus it was on sale. If you are looking for a good thunder sound with less speaker and wires than this is the king kong of soundbars.

HUGE sound in small unit

I have this unit in my living room and it fills our entire first floor with sound. We listen to a ton of music and this projects very well. It has built in woofers that go pretty low for rocking out when people are over. My wife and i both love movies as well and the surround sound processing in this is great. It does a fantastic job of simulating speakers all around you. We wanted a sleek sound bar that would fit in with our decor, but we didn't want to be disappointed by the performance. We tested the other options in the store and they couldn't come close to the sound this put out.

So I went into Best buy just looking to see if they had some self powered speakers to hook up to my TV for extra sound for the UFC fight that night. Best buy didn't have any without having to buy a receiver which I started looking at. I'm the type that has to get something really good if I plop down my cash. The speakers and receiver together were around 2k. Not wanting to deal with Receiver hookups, speaker wire, speaker placement I asked "do you have any soundbars worth a dang?". The sales guy said "come look at this one". He turns on this soundbar and I immediately started looking around to see where the "extra" speakers were. I swear I thought the sound was coming from behind me and from the ceiling it was freakin weird. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It looks gorgeous and it sounds gorgeous and it was on sale for $200 off so I had to get it. It sounds amazing and fills my living room with sound that I thought could only come from a 5.1 speakers. Plug it into the wall, plug it into the TV and turn it on DONE! Amazing sound! This sounds way better than the Bose soundbar too, slightly more expensive but way better imo. Good stuff!

Good enough all-in-one system.

I went to Best Buy to preview the new Panorama 2 with HDMI connectivity, and found that the original Panorama was on clearance sale at $1,299. That's $900 off the original price, and lower than the prices advertised on the web for used models. I decided to get the older model.
I connected my IPOD to the analog ports, and played music from the Eagles. The music sounds good with adequate bass, but it still does not match the sound quality I get from my 2.1 set-up. I also tested a couple of blue-ray movies. The movie sound is comparable to what you would get with a 3.1 system without the rear speakers. I think sound quality is excellent but I wouldn't call it surround sound.
I've never had speakers made of stainless steel, and was impressed with the soundbar's cabinet. I like the the GAIN function which allows me to increase the signal from my IPOD. I like the fact that the unit turns on automatically when it detects a signal. I like the simplicity of the remote. I don't like that the unit is bulky, and will block signals if placed on the same shelf with your TV.
Overall, I think this is an excellent all-in-one system, but it still cannot match a good 5.1 system.

I use this as a standalone sound bar with a sub-woofer for the low lows.
The Panorama really makes a wonderful all-in-one surround with a sub-woofer. Not a replacement for a true 5.1 system, but is able to decode 5.1 soundtracks and play back as such through the sound bar. I really enjoy using this.

For everyone looking for a full-room surround sound system, save yourselves $1000's of dollars and get this soundbar. It is unbelieveable. Extremely low lows and crisp and clear high highs. You may laugh, but for the price and quality, this is an unreal value.

Good choice if built-in speakers aren't an option

My only complaint is the lack of a 3 digit code to use with universal remotes. I spent hours searching the web and visiting various community sites looking for an answer. Lots of people with the same issue. Tried to get this information from B&W, but they weren't very helpful. Just directed me back to my cable provider, which didn't help since they didn't have this speaker on their list either.

Before I learn that this soundbar unit existed, Bose soundbar was the choice for my home theater. Sometimes I wish I never learn about this unit but at the same time I'm glad I did. It was almost a love and hate relationship. I love the fact that the sound is incredibly unbelievable and I hate that it cost so much. At the end of the day, I'm blessed to even be able to afford this soundbar and gave me more reason to watch movies and appreciate every bit of what the directors intended. Also this unit sounds good from the get go. Get it out the box, plug it in and put DVD and press play. Sit back and get ready to blown away. Overall, I think this unit justify it's worth once you hear it for yourself. Until then, you never know what you are missing.
