These speakers blow me away every time that I listen to them. Wonderful imaging, great soundstage and some of the best bass extension and top end detail that I have heard from a bookshelf speaker. 5 stars is given despite some midrange treble and midbass being slightly rolled off but they still make me smile each time I throw a record on.

I bought several of these bookshelf speakers in the various sizes offered. They sound great for being so small and the amount of of bass they produce is unbelievable. if you can do yourself a favor and buy this pair of speakers they are just as good as Sonus Faber speakers that I have as a comparison.

I have owned B&W products for 20 years, going all the way back to a set of 602s I first bought in 2000, through a 600 series home theatre system, Zeppelin, and the smaller M1/PV1D system before finally biting the bullet on these bad boys. When you feed these speakers with good clean power and high quality source material (my sources include CD and streaming Amazon Music UltraHD 24bit/192khz) the sound is quite simply breathtaking. I've never heard anything like it. They love headroom and paired with an agile subwoofer, will deliver a 2.1 system that is hard to match. The decoupled tweeter provides unbelievable clarity and whilst the sound is a little colored, if you (like me) LOVE the B&O sound, you will really not be disappointed. Make sure there are no weak links in the chain as these speakers will reveal EVERYTHING you do (and don't) want to hear. Rotel amps work well with B&O products. I got the white ones, because well, my wife wasn't gonna let me get anything else :)

When I now listen to music in my playlists or on vinyl after buying the Bowers & Wilkins 700 series speakers, it is like listening to these very familiar pieces of music for the first time. I hear things I haven't heard before. There is greater clarity, greater definition of the sounds of the instruments. The have a presence that my previous speakers didn't. have. The tweeters allow you to hear the higher tones but without the raspiness that many tweeters have. They enhance the music. The base and mid range components are equally excellent. To use a visual analogy: it would be like going to the eye doctor and being able to see one or two more rows of letters on the eye chart that you couldn't see clearly before.

I wanted so badly to love these. Maybe so much that I set the bar way to high. I started with the 606 S2 and I loved it. Then I thought, if this is so nice, then why not step up to the 706 S2? I did just that and was immediately floored in the difference. Then that little voice inside me said psssst.....what about the 705 S2???? Best Buy had an open box set that was only $400 more than the the 706’s so I said what have I got to lose? Upon first testing of them I said hmmmm....is my wiring out of phase? No it wasn’t. i played a few more tracks but I didn’t get that initial tingle down my spine that I was hoping for. I toed them in a little, then a little more. I moved seats. I closed my blinds. I turned off my lights. (Not really, but I really tried everything) I listened to a wide range of music. I watched countless movie clips. Listening to Janis Joplin was truly a painful experience. It literally hurt. I read countless reviews about B&W having a certain sound that shall we say are sharp, harsh or sibilant. With the 606 and 706 I did not have any complaints what so ever. The 705’s though, to me, are very bright. Much much more so than the others. Then it hit me, the tweeters are at a different height now! It’s about 3 inches higher than the 706. So me being the genius I am, I grabbed a pillow to sit on to raise my ears lol. Still nothing. The low end also has a different sound. Maybe because the driver is in line with the port? It doesn’t have that punch that got with the 706. The 705’s seem to have more of a mid range sound. I am not a certified audiophile by any means. I do however have the experience of having heard many many different speakers. The 706’s are in the very high range of that list. The 705’s, definitely not. In case you are wondering, I am running these off of a NAD T758 V3i. I know it’s not a Rotel but it’s definitely no slouch for sure. I can’t really blame the receiver for the sound, especially when it has been what was powering the other B&Ws. I don’t think these are worth the extra money to be honest. I’m sure there’s people who would say differently. I’m sure there’s even one person reading saying “this guys out of his mind! He wouldn’t know good sound if it slapped him in the face!” I do love the way it looks though. It’s top notch in that department. Just wish I could have loved it more.

What an elegant looking and sounding speaker. Even without proper set up just for my initial sound test they were amazing. Being a current owner of the 606 series one I can tell you these are a humongous step up. The soundstage opens up to magical levels the 606 cannot replicate and the amount of detail is immaculate. I’ve never heard the 800 series and I’m sure that they are a step above this but I could probably say in confidence this probably gives you 85 to 90% of what the 800 series gives you. Truly amazing and highly recommended. Great for music and movies.

Very nice sound, revealing and elegant. On the warm side of neutral and just right for my ears. If you close your eyes, you would think they were floor-standers. They are absolutely beautiful, stunning in black gloss.

Using in a smaller room and i am very pleased with theses speakers. Imaging and detail are incredible. I am driving them with a 200 watt/ch amp and they seem to handle it nicely. I have speakers from Focal and Definitive Technology speakers which are great on their own, but these seem a more accurate in the detail of the sound ( i also spent more on these so they should). Worth a listen. I am not disappointed with the purchase.

I liked these speakers when I heard them in the showroom. Now that I have had a chance to listen to them at home, I like them even more. They are particularly good at reproducing voices which is very important as I use them for video and music. I highly recommend.

I never thought I would pay this much for a bookshelf speaker, however, this one is worth every penny. Their diminutive size is deceptive, sounding more like a floor standing speaker. I have these mounted on two 36 inch speaker stands. Soundstage is impressive! The level of audio detail and balance is notable throughout the frequency range. Everything from the snap of a cymbal, to vocal harmonies, to mid-bass reproduction and effortless low-end delivery (without the annoying boom and thump) are all provided with distinct clarity. You begin to hear individual instruments in a favorite composition that you haven't heard before. Surprisingly, the more listening hours you put in, the sound performance improves. It is like breaking in a new engine on a car. I have these perfectly matched with a Rotel A-14 with 80 watts RMS per channel. Its a sound investment!

Highs that are superb, not harsh, not shrill, but rather they're clear, crisp and sharp..it's really good. Bass that you would never expect from a stand mount. And mids...oh the mid-range, voices so smooth, velvety...just exquisite. Then there's a wonderful 3 dimensional quality....sound just fills the room in a way that I find delightful and exiting. I read a review that said these were too exiting...that they are like driving a sports car and weren't good for mellow moments. No sir, I don't see it that way; they offer realism, excellent timing, and clear, crisp sound....if you want mellow sounding speakers, put a blanket on your 705s, they'll still sound better than most others.
