Amazing HIFI headphones, but doesn't do it all

First and foremost, if this review was based solely off of music sound quality, this headset would be a 6/5 star rating. The Bowers & Wilkins PI7 headphones are of amazing quality, with a clear deep sound range.  When I put these in, I can easily believe I'm in the same room as the musician. The sound is immersive, and feels true to life, one of the only hifi experiences I've had with wireless in ear headphones.  That being said, there are a few small quirks that detract from the sound experience. In the box are the headphones, charging case, instructions, small / large ear inserts (medium are installed on the headphones), USB-C charging cable, and a 3.5mm cable. Setup is relatively easy, I paired using Bluetooth, but you can also use the app.  You can connect the headphones with two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, meaning I can watch video on my laptop but also pause and take calls from my phone.  Once paired you are ready to take calls or listen to music.  The app features allow you to change the level of ambient passthrough which is basically how much noise the headphones will cancel.  There is an auto adjust feature for noise cancelling, however it didn't adjust to the level I would prefer, so I stuck with the manual settings.  The noise cancelling is not going to drown out your teenager standing two feet away level of good, but the noise cancelling will drastically reduce what you hear from someone standing 10 feet away or the ambient noise in a public area.  The build quality is outstanding, with the headphones being light weight and well balanced.  The touch controls are typical of this style of headphone, there is left / right tap and left / right hold for call control and music control, the long hold will activate noise cancelling and voice assistant. The case is great, it takes approximately 15 minutes to get 2 hours of play time, and I can get about 3.5 hours of play time out of a full charge. A unique feature is the case can be used to retransmit.  That means if you have an audio device without Bluetooth but with a headphone jack, you can plug the 3.5mm cable into the device, connect to the case, and the case will then transmit the audio to the headphones.   I can't say enough great things about the music sound quality, however I did have some issues with the other features. When I was using the headphones for phone calls, I found the directional microphones did not pick up my voice well, especially if I was outside.  If I was in a smaller room the microphones did a better job, but still had to repeat myself to be heard.  If you are soft spoken, I'm not sure if these would work well at all. My second issue is that I honestly expected better ambient noise cancelling at this level of quality. The noise cancelling is there, but lacks in comparison to what can be achieved with over the ear headphones. These are minor quirks, but things I was expecting at this level of quality. Overall I still recommend, especially if you are prioritizing music quality over everything else.

Do not buy them. Every 3 month I buy new headphones. They are the worth headphones. You must keep them near to phone or laptop( only 6 steps). Every 10 minutes they get disconnection. They have good voice quality, but not the best. I have Bose, powerbeats and bang&olufsen. Bowers are the worth. Bose and beats are the best.

It's always about comfort for when it comes to buds and these are very comfortable. Pros Bluetooth connection (simple) Comfort Battery life Classy built Extra ear tips Clear sound (good treble) Cons Bass not as deep Big Overall, these are good. I could get a straight 4hrs of play within a day. I really enjoy them at night when watching movies. People said my voice is clear when I did talk with them, of course wind noise can interfere. Working out with them, they stood in place and it cancels out background noise just as advertised. The only thing is that they look like ear plugs, so there not as hidden as you would like, however, they are not heavy feeling. Maybe with the black it's different. Compared to my Samsung Buds, the Samsung's are sleeker. I have really enjoyed these this past week. I love that I don't worry about battery life, so without constant use, I didn't charge until the 4th day. These are a winner and a good option away from Apple and Samsung.

Really nice ear buds, cool app with them. Unfortunately they didn't meet my expectations. I have a set of beats and paid way less for them and they blow these away.

Outstanding sound. You can also use the case as the transmitter, to achieve a high speed and data rate transfer for clear music. But the bluetooth connection is just too unstable or consistent enough for me. The sound cuts in and out, even coming down to which pocket you carry your phone in. I've even had issues reconnecting the headphones to the phone. The frustration offsets the amazing sound, for me. I would not buy these again.

Best Sounding Earbuds With Innovative Features

let me start off I hate most earbuds, I am more of a headphone guy. I know its blasphemy but the earbuds i typically use are just the regular Airpods because they seem to be the only ones that fit my ears well. But I saw these and some of the features they have and wanted to give them a shot. These are extremely comfortable earbuds and they sound amazing. They sound just as good and sometime better than some of the headphones I have. My favorite thing about them is how versatile they are because of their case. They are bluetooth eabuds with noise cancelling and their case can wireless charge, cool features but ones we have seen before. The biggest feature they have that I have never seen on any pair of earbuds before is the case can transmit audio to the headphones. This is a game changer the amount of devices you can use this with now just expanded dramatically. the case even comes with a usb-c to 3.mm case so you can plug it in to non bluetooth device and get the audio on the ear buds. I tried this out with the PS5 and you do lose out on being able to use the mice but it was still awesome being able to use these with the ps5. The one downside i have with these earbuds is the voice quality when I have used them to have some phone conversations I have had people say that my voice will sometimes cut out. besides that I cannot find many faults with these earbuds. They sound amazing and work so well with multiple devices.

I want to love these headphones, I really do, but there are just too many flaws which is surprising from this brand. Let's start with the pros. They look great and feel good in my ears. I am using them for listening to music and making work calls, Zoom meetings, etc. They connected easily to my devices. The tiny instruction manual is useless, I still have no idea what the big button on the case does. The sound is fantastic, I hear notes that i just don't hear on other headphones. The on ear controls work well and the battery life is excellent. The positives end there... One of the features that I wanted to love about these is the ability to use them as a wired headset...either on my PC or on an airplane. Great concept...just plug the case into a headphone jack or USB-C port on your device and the case will send the audio to the headphones. The problem is the connection is entirely unstable and music and phone calls skip and bounce around. This renders that feature completely useless. Support through the app was useless as well, it would not let me post a question and finally the app froze and crashed. The app doesn't do much except adjust noise cancellation and ambient pass through. There is no EQ. The other issue is the sensor. It works great when I have both buds in, but not when I am only using one, which is often. I don't like wearing both buds while working, and music does not stop when i remove the one bud. Annoying. I wanted these to replace my AirPod Pro's and while the sound is superior, the other features just don't compare.

Great features and sound but it brings me pain

B&W implemented an awesome feature that allows you to plug the PI7's case into a computer or another analog source (i.e. Nintendo SWITCH) via the included 3.5mm-to-USB-C cable effectively converting it into a wireless adapter. The touch-based controls on the earbuds, are similar to that of the Samsung Buds, though they don't work with gloves, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and seem to be easily to trigged while adjusting the fitment. B&W active noise cancellation appears be auto leveled depending on the ambient noise. It works well enough but i generally only use 1 ear plug while working so I can hear the phone ring or if others talk to me. I would use the transparency mode but you have to dive into the Headphones app to activate/deactivate it. So my 1 bud use will continue. This usually extends me listening time through pretty mich my entire work day. The charging case is usually sitting on my wireless charging dock while plugged in. These wireless earbuds sound great and offer some great features save for the 1 major issue for me.... comfort.... After about 30mins of wearing them the rather bulky shape behind the ear gels press up against the curve of my outer ear causing me a good deal of pain. My Buds Live and Pros do not give me this issue. Maybe it's just my ear. I want to like them but ear pain is no fun. I will still use them for the added functionality of the using the case as a bluetooth adapter, but for longer listening sessions I have to stick with my Samsungs.

Great Sound Quality When Bluetooth Doesn’t Cut Out

The B&W PI7 in-ear headphones sound phenomenal. The trebles, mids, and bass sound better than any in-ear headphones I’ve tried (even beating out other high-end in-ear headphones I have in sound quality). The headphones are comfortable, and the app works well, and I love being able to use the case as a transmitter for those instances where you must use a 3.5mm cable (like an airplane for example). The reason for the lower stars is due to the fact that the Bluetooth connection is shaky at best. When taking a walk with the headphones, sound would constantly cut out if I had my phone in my pocket or left hand. If there is a wall or two between you and the sound source, the headphones cut-out more than they should for the price paid for them. Unfortunately, the stellar sound can’t overcome the issues with the cut-outs making these headphones a do-not-buy (yet) from me. If the Bluetooth connectivity issues can be resolved, I would recommend these headphones in an instant.

Great crisp sound allows you to hear all the highs and lows with supreme clarity. Noise cancellation allows different settings for how much exterior noise passes through. Very cool looking design, easily connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth. Battery life is great. I’ve used them while working out several times and have yet to charge. They seem to stay in my ears well and have only popped out with a violent sneeze. Overall I really love the sound clarity and being able to hear different parts of the rock bands I listen to without the sounds being mashed together. Definitely recommend if you’re one to want to immerse yourself and feel your music.
