I had always wanted these headphones since they came out in 2016, but I knew I would never buy them at the MSRP of $899.99.
When I saw these drop to $449.00 I knew it was now or never, so I purchased them and received them Amazonfast, as I have all of my Best Buy orders, usually within 2 days or less.
The first impression that I had when I opened the box was how beautiful they are and after trying them on, how beautiful they sound.
I have the Bowers & Wilkins PX, the Sony WH-1000XM3 and the Bose 700 which are all very good headphones, so I couldn't help but compare them (wired) and there is a noticeable difference.
I am not an audiophile, so I won't go into any intricacies other than they just sound noticeably better than the other three headphones.
As far as looks go, well they are beautiful. Very solid and well built, it does feel like you're holding a high quality item and I like how the drivers are decoupled from the aluminum headband.
What I do not like about these headphones given the fact that they are Bowers & Wilkins and that these are supposed to represent 50 years of innovation culminated in these headphones is the leather or lack thereof.
The outer shell of the earcups is not leather at all. It's plastic! That's right folks. Plastic!
You would think that with so much research put into these and with the name alone, not to mention the price, that they would have wrapped the outer shell of the earcups in matching leather.
Aside from that I guess this is minor complaint, compared to the overall design, build and sound quality of these headphones.
At $449.00 I am very pleased with these headphones, so much so, that I don't use my other headphones to listen to music, although I will continue to use my Bose 700 due to their excellent ANC feature when traveling by air.

The one thing I can appreciate about a good set of earphones, is the detail that goes into the overall sound of the music I listen to...these earphones go far and beyond what I first expected to hear out of them.
My music taste can be very eclectic and the first time I tried these out, listening to them as I type this review mind you, every bit of what I’m listening to is coming out with such clarity. The craftsmanship of the build is a close second to the quality of sound that these earphones produce. From Metallica to Mahler, The Cure to Miles Davis, and points in between, these headphones do not disappoint.
I plan to buy a dac player in the near future to really let these earphones do their thing, but in the meantime, my phone will be just fine.
Treat yourself this holiday season and get yourself a pair of P9’s. Everyone should have a GREAT set of headphones at least once in their lives...

While maybe not the best value on the market, these headphones sound outstanding. I also own Denon MM400's, B&W P7's, P7 Wireless, Sony MDR-Z7 and Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless. These and the P7 Wireless are head and shoulders above the rest. Bass impact is outstanding. Soundstage is great for closed can. To me the detail and soundstage are really what set the P9's apart. If you can afford them, I would highly recommend giving these a try.

Awesome sound quality than all headphones I've tried so far. Very clean sound. A little heavy. Case doesn't look high end.

This was a pretty good headphone and it is a warmer feel, it uses pretty quality material on this headphone. It was suppose to copy the 800D speakers of B&W. I used to prefer the B&W signature but I like the Focal signature now. You can get focal Clear for $1100 when on sale i will chose that over this.

The sound quality is far superior to any other headphones I have owned. Also good noise isolation. Worth the price.

Best pair of headphones I've owned

B&W, most known for great speakers (I own a pair of 600 series i got from Best Buy) has had much success with it's line of premium headphones over the past 5 years. The P9 are it's most expensive and ambitious creation yet. The price will be a turn off for many but you get more than you paid for. These may be the BEST closed-back headphones you'll find at any price. The sound is warm, spacious but extremely accurate. The bass is natural yet full and the mid-range and highs surprisingly clear never harsh. The real treat, the more you play them, the more the sound opens up. I find myself "moved" and consumed by whatever music i listen to. I'm so happy I made these my early Christmas gift to myself.

These headphones are marvelous. I've listened to others that cost hundreds of dollars more and they fall short of the P9. These are very rich yet extremely articulate headphones with an impressive soundstage for being closed back. Incidentally, these are the only headphones I've ever been able to wear for hours without feeling uncomfortable. Bowers and Wilkins has achieved an engineering feat with every minor detail being brought into focus. The bar has been set.

The Best Of The Best

I had almost every headphone on the market from Bose , Beats , JBL , Sony you name it even Hi Res players and I could never find the right setup. I had the P3 , P5 , P7 and P7 wireless. These hit the mark. There is even room for a portable amp for these P9s, but they rock even on a simple device. I enjoy most genre of music but my fav is EDM. These are perfect for electronica. I actually feel the music now. The material is top notch , beautifully crafted. They do require a run in period / break in. In other words the more you use them the better they sound. If you are privy to acquire a pair these are the ones.

Let’s not act like these aren’t outrageously expensive and there’s better lower priced value options out there. But if you want the best of the best. I’m talking Alien tech type stuff lol then these are well worth the money. Ive had an obsession with how sound is perceived ever since I was a kid so I can appreciate the elegance, beauty and love put into the craftsmanship of these beautiful cans. All I can say is when you listen to those tracks. Those ones that are your favorite, in your heart you know every word. When you listen to those songs for the first time with these headphones you will simply fall in love with music all over again.
