I enjoyed The Boxtrolls very much. The settings and characters were amusingly designed, and the stop-motion animation was excellent. Sir Ben Kingsley gave a great vocal performance as the chief villain. The 3D version looked spectacular. Some people have complained that it's not appropriate for small children. It's rated PG, which means it is not aimed at small children.

This is one of the most imaginative animated films, with a really cool story. My kids really enjoy this movie and it is on a regular rotation in my DVD player. The stop motion animation is really cool. The case is pretty basic, but for the price it is worth it. If you love Coraline or Paranorman you should enjoy this movie.

Based on the novel “Here Be Monsters!” by Alan Snow, “The Boxtrolls” is the latest 3D stop motion film from Laika Entertainment, the company behind “Coraline” and “Paranorman.” It is set in the fictional Victorian town of Cheesebridge, England, where humans hide in their houses at night in fear of the titular Boxtrolls, creatures that they believe to be dangerous.

Boxtrolls is an intriguing journey into the dark world of British romantic comedy , as a boy raised on the wrong side of the bricks falls for a girl from the upside of a world he doesn't know or understand . IOW - a story more like our real world than the illustrators would have us believe . Not a children's story . I loved it . . . but I like British humor .

Having seen this movie in the theaters I decided I also wanted to own it at home. It is destined to become a classic, the stop action is top notch and the story is captivating. It is a movie that will appeal to both children and adults. I hope the creator continues to produce more of these movies, I will be first in line to see them and purchase them.

Not only is real stop animation rarely seen in a feature film it is also incredibly painstaking to do. The artists love for this medium shines in this feature. Great characters and story development with more than one twist. Possibly a little scary in parts for real little children with a fragile constitution. A must have for an animation collection.

I saw this movie on Netflix and I liked it a lot I even bought it on Blu-ray. It's a fun movie to watch with your family, the story is good the characters are awesome (except for some of the villains) and the behind the scenes features show you how much work is put into creating this type of films.

The third Laika production after Coraline and ParaNorman is a solid film experience, not as good as Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, but on the same level as ParaNorman. The stop motion animation looks superb and even better in 3D. This blu-ray is definitely worth the price, especially if found on sale.

The Boxtrolls is a great movie that I think all ages can enjoy (I'm 30 and watched this with my little sister, 27). The concept is foreign enough to be fresh and the humor is innocent and appropriate for everyone. Be sure to check out the "making of" features within to get a really good idea of how much work really goes into these films!

Well made. Beautifully orchestrated, humbly acted and edited to near perfection! I don't want to spoil this wonderful story or set in motion any preconceived attitudes for anyone, so I'm not going to site any particulars. Never choose your entertainment based on another's perception, enjoy it and draw your own conclusions about.

I was sad when Netflix took this off of their site. So, I was more than happy to pick it up to have in my home. Well worth the purchase. I don't always enjoy stop animation, but they did it right. The story has enough unique concepts and characters to make this a charming movie.

I WATCHED THIS WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER & WE BOTH LOVE IT. SHE WANTS MORE. I TOLD HER IT TAKES ALOT OF TIME TO MAKE THIS KIND OF MOVIE. I PLAYED THE EXTRAS FOR HER & SHE DID NOT QUITE UNDERSTAND BUT SHE BELIVED ME. SHE WANTS ME TO GET THE NEXT ONE WHEN IT COMES OUT, SO WE CAN WATCH TOGETHER. YOU KNOW I WILL.

This was a really good movie - I normally don't watch movies more than once but I've seen this one 3 times now. The claymation was really well done and the storyline was good - interesting to both kids and adults alike. Make sure to watch through the credits, they show some of the work that it took to make this movie.

Superficially, this wonderful animated tale will entertain the whole family. On a more nuanced level, it speaks to the benefits an entire society can reap when its members decide to view each other as unique and worthy citizens instead of as someone you prejudge before getting to know them.

Fantastic movie, though the craft may be a bit better than the story itself... regardless, it's a visually stunning thrill ride. Maybe a bit dark and scary in some places for the younger crowd, but my 8 year old daughter loves it. Laika outdoes themselves with each effort. Be sure to watch all of the credits!

This movie doesn't live up to what Laika did with Coraline, but it is a worthy successor to their impressive stop-motion animation line-up. A great tale with breath-taking animation sets this tale apart from the over-used and saturated CGI market. I will follow Laika until the end of animation as we know it!

Loved this film when I saw it in the theaters and knew I would be buying it on 3-D Blu-ray as soon as it was released. The box-troll characters were such kindhearted characters that it is pretty much impossible to dislike them. The stop motion looks amazing on 3-D Blu-ray and I highly recommend this release.

Bought this DVD because the grandkids (3 & 7) were coming for the weekend. They absolutely loved the movie and enjoyed it tremendously. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the adults didn't seem all that impressed. Good story, excellent graphics. Worth it if you've got little ones in the house.

A great family film that subtly touches on several family dynamic issues. It's a movie for every type of family which with subsequent viewings, become increasingly evident. Many positive messages included in story development without "in your face delivery." Also just a very cute and enjoyable movie.

The story of Eggs, a human boy adopted and raised by Box Trolls, who has to learn enough of the ways of humans in a hurry in order to save his box troll friends from being wiped out by a social climbing exterminator. Watched it with my 7th and 8th grade daughters and we all enjoyed it.
