I placed it in her car and put the metal plate into her OtterBox case. At first blush I had my hesitations. I placed the iPhone on the magnet and was not impressed. It stuck, but "stuck" is not the proper term for it. Driving down the highway, we hit an expansion joint in the road which resulted in a minor bump in-cabin. The phone fell off the holder. I drove to the closest Best Buy and returned it as soon as I could. Stay away from this product and try any other brand.

Posted .Like wireless chargers, magnets work best with proximity. If a phone case is too thick, the magnetic field may be too weak to be effective. You will get the best hold results by using the large metal plate. Larger phone cases do not work as well unless the metal plate is on the exterior of the phone case.
