    Best IPL for Sensitive Skin

I got the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert for my wife, who finds frequent shaving to be a huge inconvenience. Upon unboxing, the device comes with a high-quality case designed to securely hold the IPL device and all included heads. A Venus Razor is also provided, ensuring you have everything necessary to begin treatment. Connecting the device to the Braun IPL app was a breeze, with clear, step-by-step instructions for setup and initiating the first session. The app first prompts you to scan your skin tone to determine compatibility with the device (darker skin tones and light colored hair is not suitable). Following this, a patch test on a small skin area is required, with a 15-minute waiting period to monitor for any adverse reactions before proceeding with a full treatment area. Given my wife's very light skin tone and highly sensitive skin, we had initial concerns regarding potential pain or skin irritation. Fortunately, the treatment proved to be completely pain-free, with no signs of redness, she absolutely loves this thing! The only negative thing to note is probably the bright light emitted during use, which can be easily resolved with a pair of sunglasses if need be. For her first session, my wife focused on her lower legs and it only took around 8 minutes to complete then she did her underarms which only took a couple minutes. Typically, stubble would be noticeable on her legs by the morning after shaving. However, after just one use of the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert, she observed that the majority of her legs remained smooth, with only minimal hair regrowth starting. The Braun IPL app creates a convenient weekly schedule with reminders, ensuring you do not miss follow-up sessions. For lower legs, the recommended treatment plan suggests six weekly sessions, with a noticeable reduction in hair regrowth expected each week. It is worth noting that this specific IPL model offers 400,000 "flashes available." The number of flashes directly correlates with the device's lifespan; fortunately, 400,000 flashes are estimated to provide up to 22 years of skin treatments. Compared to professional laser hair removal, which can be considerably expensive and, from my understanding, potentially painful, the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert offers a compelling alternative with years worth of painless treatments for your whole body. Its convenience, allowing users to conduct treatments from the comfort of their own home on their personal schedule, combined with its reasonable price point, makes it a highly recommended solution for hair reduction.

    Accessible At Home Hair Removal!

This at-home hair removal kit includes everything you need to safely achieve smooth skin. The box includes 4 heads that are ideal for use on different areas on the body, including a precision head for the face, a vanity case to allow for easy storage and a Venus razor. I was confused why a razor was needed for IPL hair removal but during the initial setup it explained why. Like most gadgets these days, this device works best with an app that you download onto your phone. Once you have powered on your device and paired it to your phone, the app walks you through a flash test using the IPL. It recommends that you shave the area you are about to test, but doesn’t clearly state why. I’m assuming it’s so the device can have a clear read on your skin tone and the color of your hair follicles. It is important to note that not everyone is an ideal candidate for IPL. Once you’ve completed the flash test the app tells you right away if you’re an ideal candidate. It’s helpful, but if you haven’t done your research before purchasing there is a chance you might waste hundreds of dollars. The flash test is easy and the app walks you through each step, but beware the flash is BRIGHT. Braun’s website states the device is safe for eyesight and that no safety glasses are needed, however if you have light sensitivities like I do, proceed with caution and maybe a pair of sunglasses. My skin is sensitive, so I was worried about what I might feel but it was painless. The areas I tested tingled a bit after the flash, but after the initial 15 minute wait period my skin felt fine and there was no irritation or redness. While Braun states you will see results after your 1st use, this is a device that will require a treatment plan to see the most effective results. However, the app makes it incredibly easy to set up your personalized plan. Braun suggests weekly appointments for 12 weeks and the app includes a calendar allowing you schedule your treatments with reminders. There is even a progress section to see what areas of the body you’ve worked on and how many treatments you’ve completed. The smart head recognition takes the guesswork out of making sure you have the correct one attached, which comes in handy if you plan on working on different parts of the body. The app will alert you if you start a treatment on a part of the body the smart head wasn’t designed for, like face and bikini Overall I give this device 4 stars. I don’t enjoy shaving, nor can my body tolerate it more than once a week, so having an at-home option for hair removal is convenient. However, the pulse light is much brighter than suggested on their website and demo video, so those with light sensitivities and conditions triggered by flashing lights will definitely want to proceed with caution.

Home Hair Removal Tool With A Brain

It’s not laser. It’s IPL. I know a lot of people think it’s laser, or call it laser or compare it to laser, but it’s an intense light pulse that does SIMILAR effects to laser treatments. Ok so that’s out of the way, how’s the product working? Well, with very limited time to test it before needing to write a review, so far I think it works great. Unfortunately, after only 1 week of use, I can’t tell you if the hair removal results are good, but I can tell you about the experience with setting up the device, the app, and what a typical treatment experience is like. SETUP/UNBOXING: Upon opening the box, I was impressed with the quality of the device and the container it comes in. It’s a nice soft touch, oval shaped case that can hold all the components of the IPL device, the power cord, heads, and razor, etc. The product comes with a standard head, 2 precision heads, (the manual says this is so one can be used on your face (females only) and the other can be used on your intimate areas to avoid cross contamination of those two areas.) and a wide head for larger body parts. Also included is a venus razor handle and one razor head. It is required to shave the area right before treatment to get the best results and avoid any burning. Also included is an instruction manual and I HIGHLY recommend you read this thoroughly. The new standard seems to be people ignore any paperwork when they buy new products and expect an app to explain it or just think they can figure it out. So much so that most products don’t include any reading material. However, IPL is not something you want to “figure out.” it can be very dangerous, especially if you do not use it properly or do the proper tests first. There is a LOT of useful information and warnings in the manual that isn’t stated in the app or elsewhere. Just as one example, it actually says not to use over freckles/moles or tattoos. As someone with a lot of moles scattered around, this was important for me to avoid. I believe it said this can lead to skin issues including cancer. So PLEASE read the manual. APP SETUP Once I finished reading all the material and felt like I understood what I can and can’t do, I decided to download the app. There’s a QR code or simply search the app store. I saw other reviewers express concerns about losing the QR code, but it’s not necessary to scan the code, it’s like any other QR code, it’s just a faster way to get to the app store. So don’t worry if you lose it. There are plenty of places on the box and in the manual telling you where to get the app. The app is as simple and straightforward as any other app to use. It will require you to make an account (insert eye roll here) and an email and username etc. And as you can see from the screenshots I’ve attached, there are some pretty troubling agreements you can’t avoid. Including the selling of your personal data. It says you can turn this off, which is true (see other screenshot) but you have to remember to go into the settings and do that. Something I knew and still forgot to do for almost a week. This practice isn’t new or unique to Braun, but it is frustrating and unnecessary. For a device that is “premium” and so expensive, I would like to see them not get greedy to make more money off our personal information. Once all the personal information was off to the highest bidder, I was able to set up a treatment plan. I really enjoyed the easy use of the app at this point. It walks you through everything you need to do to get started, asks a few questions about your skin and hair and then walks you through a skin test to make sure you won’t have any bad reactions. This includes pulsing one flash on your skin and then a timer starts for 15 minutes. The app will then ask you if there’s any pain or redness. Assuming you are ok, then you can continue with the treatment. I didn’t have an issue, so I don’t know what happens if you do. It would be nice if there was some kind of return process set up automatically then but I don’t know. The app will walk you through your treatment, help you choose the appropriate head, sensitivity setting, and ask how dense the hair is in the area you are treating. From there it will count the flashes and wait for you to finish. TREATMENT PROCESS: As far as actually doing the treatments, I found the device easy to use and didn’t feel any pain. It’s a small sting like a light pinch or rubber band snap. The device checks your skin tone with every single pulse at a high rate of speed to make sure you get the right amount of light with the least amount of pain. There’s a light bar on the side telling you a real time read out of the skin tone results as well as a light indicator telling you if you have good contact with the skin or need to push harder etc. You can use the stamp method or the drag method. When stamping you place the device on your skin, press the button, and then move the device to the next spot and press the button. This is my preferred method because I feel like I have more control this way. The dragging is just like it sounds. You press the button and hold while dragging the device across the area. I assume for larger body parts, the app would suggest this, but for smaller areas like armpits, it’s not really necessary. The manual says you do not need any eye protection with this device, however it also mentions how dangerous IPL can be for your eyes. So I’m not sure how I feel about that. Other devices have included a pair of IPL protective glasses, and for the price, I would expect this to include a set. They throw in a razor but not eye protection?! Most people already have a razor, but I don’t know anyone with special IPL protection glasses laying around. I think this is a serious mistake by Braun and I hope they address this. Even if they are not necessary, they also don’t hurt to use them. I would feel a lot more comfortable if I had a pair. Instead, I have been lining up the device, then looking away and closing my eyes tight. Even with that, I still feel a bright pulse of light through my eyelids. You can purchase the glasses online and I think I will be doing that just to be safe. But again, seems like an added expense to an already high priced product. OVERALL: So after a week of use and two treatments, do I notice any difference in my hair? Well, no. But I’m not supposed to yet. It says it will take at least 6 weeks to notice a difference. But I do think it grew back ever so slightly slower, (although that could be my imagination.) What I do know is that I’ve been looking into IPL treatment for about a year now and have looked at many brands and gimmicks and this seems to be one of the legit ones. Braun is a trusted brand that’s been around a long time, the device is FDA certified, it has a handy app that actually does help keep track and make sure you are doing things correctly. It fits nicely in the hand, has a very long power cord and intuitive user experience. If it does indeed help slow or eliminate my hair growth, I will be extremely happy. The only few things I don’t like is the lack of eye protection provided and the data selling which is on by default requiring you to turn it off in the settings. The option to use the device as a “guest” in the app would be much better, but obviously wouldn’t allow them to track data as well. Despite these few shortcomings, I would still recommend this device to anyone looking to try an IPL product. You get what you pay for in IPL and there are plenty of cheaper knock offs that won’t work. I can’t tell you for sure this one works because I haven’t used it long enough, but I can tell you it FEELS like it’s working and it’s backed by a brand that has a history of fantastic IPL products. PS Last thing I want to note, make sure you check the skin tone and hair type chart provided on the box (if you’re in store) or on the best buy listing photos to make sure you can use this. If you think you’ll just use it anyway, you’re wrong. The sensor will see your skin tone and not work. This is to protect you from serious harm. Also if your hair is the wrong color you’ll be wasting time and money. So follow the chart.

    Fantastic Hair Removal System!

I was looking for a quality home hair removal system for my wife who has sensitive skin and got Braun - IPL Skin i·Expert Home Hair Removal system. It came with very high quality case which includes IPL Device, 4 Heads, Venus Razor, Cartridge and user manual. Setup is very easy by following the instructions provided in Braun app in app store. I was able to pair the device with the app and followed the instructions to do patch test after scanning skin tone to make sure that skin is compatible with the device. After the patch test on the leg, we waited for 15 mins as indicated in the app to see if there are any redness or irritation in the treated area. Surprisingly, there is no pain or irritation using this device. For the first session, she focused the legs and it took around 10 minutes to complete. There are two ways to do the treatment either by Gliding (fast and efficient for large areas like legs) or stamping method to treat small hard to reach areas like face, knee, chin). She used Gliding method by Press and Hold the treatment button for 5 seconds. The device started flashing and slowly moved the device from bottom to top. Once the first gliding strike was done, she lifted the device and followed the same steps to treat the next adjacent area. The build quality of the device is amazing. With Braun app, it is easy to setup remainders to do weekly sessions. Depending upon the area of treatment, the results might take up to 12 weeks to see the full benefits even thought we noticed some improvements within 2 sessions. The light emitted from this device is too bright and it is recommended to wear a glass even though it is eye safe. With this device, my wife can do entire body (armpits, legs, arms, chest and back stomach) without spending lot of money outside and it is easy to do at home itself on her schedule. It is world's 1st Smart IPL system with responsive intelligence which will learn and adapt based on skin. It is very gentle on the skin and on pain at all even in sensitive areas. Braun IPL Skin i-Expert is an amazing device for home hair removal and definitely recommended to reduce hair growth.

I'm not new to the at-home IPL device but I am new to trying the Braun brand. I have had decent success with 2 other brands but I was excited to give the Braun - IPL Skin i·Expert Home Hair Removal Includes Vanity Case, Venus Razor, 4 Smart Heads, with Free App not only because it was a different brand than I have been used to but because it coming with multiple smart heads as well as the app was intriguing. Since I am not a user starting from scratch I knew that my experience would be a bit different and knew I would need to tailor my use to my actual needs versus that of a new user. I was pleasantly surprised by how with the Braun app you get to somewhat customize your treatments based on your unique needs so it doesn't start assuming that everyone is treating for dense hair. The app is fairly simple to use and the initial setup of pairing the device to my phone was quick and easy. You have to set a treatment plan for each area you plan to treat (such as upper legs, lower legs, underarms, etc) and depending on your answers and needs your treatment length for each are can vary (in my case it is 6-8 weekly treatments). The sessions are fairly quick, especially if you have experience with these types of treatments but the only thing that slows it down a bit is that you are having to complete each area as a session...so you have to go back through the app steps of confirming your needs for that session and making sure you have the correct head attached (some areas will be the same and some will require switching to a different head as well as making sure you have the suggested intensity selected for that area). It's not a huge inconvenience but it does slow things down a little. The quick tutorials and guidance are great for new users and are a nice refresher/reminder for the rest of us. The vanity case included is a nice quality made touch helping keep everything neatly organized. The inclusion of the disposable razor is great but I did not use it as I do have my preferred razor brand that I use instead. There are 4 head attachments but it seems like only 3 of the heads are different (standard, precise, and wide) with the 4th one appearing to be another precise one. I may have overlooked something distinguing the 4th one but as far as I can tell it is not a different one. I will also mention that this is the first IPL device I have used that has a flash count life of 400,000 flashes which you can check in the app to see how many flashes you have left and have used. It's nice to know versus having a vague "unlimited" flash that seems unrealistic but that's just a personal observation. I won't get into pain-level as that is subjective and in my case it is less accurate as I am actively use to using these devices so the lack of pain I feel may not be the case for someone else. Generally though it isn't painful for most people. The Braun app does have you go through a patch test before you can start using this for the first time (you have to do the test and wait 15 minutes to evaluate the test spots to ensure you don't have any negative reaction) which I think is great for new users as some people will jump into something like this and then be surprised if they have adverse skin reactions because they opted not to do a test as every machine I have ever seen suggested first. Overall, so far this seems like a great option for anyone wanting to try at home IPL. The fact that the app schedules your sessions and can send you reminders so you stay on task is great and will help you be more realistic in your expectations and your maintenance path so you can keep your results once they are achieved.

The packaging on this IPL product was really pretty and impressive. The entire device comes in a nice box for storage will all the pieces inside and ready to go. The instructions can easily fit inside the case for storage. Once you put this storage box away it doesn't look like a hair remover kit it just looks like a nice storage box on the shelf. Initial set up of this IPL device is through the app on your phone. The app will walk you through setting up for your skin and how to test it for reaction. After you wait for 15 minutes you can then start your first treatment on whichever area you want to use the IPL on. The app asks questions about area, hair type, skin type, hair density to give suggestion on which intensity you want to use based on your answers. This part of the app is helpful to guide you through which IPL head to use and which intensity to try, as well as which method to use for the hair removal. It will suggest glide method for your legs but for bikini area it suggested the stamping method. I thought you had to use the app to get the device to work but after some more research I've found you can use it manually on any area you want, but you need to understand the settings the app shows you so you are using the right intensity or type of treatment for the particular area. I accidentally used the highest setting and I was not ready for that! So definitely start on a lower setting and work your way up This IPL came with 4 device heads: standard, wide, facial, and bikini. The app will let you know if you selected the wrong device head when you go to start your treatment. The facial and bikini look very similar to keep track of which is which. Everything fits in the storage box nicely and it is all contained nicely. This device is hard to tell if it's working because it takes 6-8 weeks to see results. The app lets you develop a plan and schedule for your treatment areas to keep you on track but it will take some time and consistency to see results. The only gripe and why I dinged it a star is the fact that is is corded and not cordless like others. If it were cordless and rechargeable then I would have given it 5 stars. Other than that is has been easy to use and hoping to see the full results after a few more weeks of use.

Great option for at home hair removal treatment

I have had laser hair removal treatments done on my body for over a decade and became accustomed to scheduling of multiple appointments to treat specific areas as well as the overwhelming cost involved with doing so. I recently decided to start exploring at home options for my spouse and I when I came across the new Braun IPL i-Expert Home Hair removal device. The Skin i-Expert was designed for at-home use and promises hair removal with smart features to make the process both safe and effective. Prior to making the investment, we looked into the IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, technology in comparison to what dermatologists or salons use to perform laser hair removal by a licensed professional. IPL uses broad-spectrum light to target melanin (the pigment) in our hair follicles. When the light energy is absorbed by the hair, it converts to heat, which then disables the follicle’s ability to produce new hair. Over multiple sessions, this process can dramatically reduce hair growth, leaving skin smoother for longer periods than traditional methods like shaving or using hair removal lotion. IPL is much more gentle on the skin than a painfully hot, single wavelength, laser and can be suitable for a broader range of body areas so it sounded like this device could replace our laser hair removal treatments and, in the long run, save us a ton of money in comparison. Out of the box the Braun Skin IPL i-Expert looks and feels similar to other hair removal devices I have used in the past. The hardware feels durable and comfortable while using it and attached power cable is long enough to use in most situations around our house including the bathroom, bedrooms or living areas. The kit includes several attachment heads including a standard head, wide head and two precision heads. The kit and convenient carrying/storage case includes a regular razer handle with one replacement head to prepare the area you wish to use the device on. There are two buttons on the top of the Skin i-Expert, one to adjust the power of the light and the other to initiate the light for use and sync with the smart phone application. During use, the Skin Sensor Technology automatically assesses your skin tone to ensure safe and effective treatment and won’t work unless you have it correctly positioned over a skin area to prevent the risk of burns or irritation. If you have ever had laser hair removal, you know how painful the “zap” can be therefore the use of the Skin i-Expert is much less painful however is still hot enough to feel the effects and heat of the light it produces. The companion app offers tailored schedules, reminders and step-by-step instructions for beginner users. I was able to do both my arms in less than ten minutes and, after setting the customization up through the app, it reminded me a few days later that it was time to treat that area again. It should be highlighted that the Braun i-Expert works best on people with light to medium skin tones and darker hair as the technology relies on the contrast between the pigment in the hair and the skin. Unfortunately, I don’t believe it will work, or doesn’t work as well, for those with very dark skin or very light, red, grey, or white hair. The skin sensor and app help enhance safety by preventing use on unsuitable skin tones and I would recommend reviewing the compatibility chart before making the investment. Overall, the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert home hair removal device already seems to be a good investment for our needs as we have both already seen results after a short period of use. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in a similar situation to ours and overall wanting to save some money; it will pay for itself after only a few uses.

    Incredible technology for hair removal

The Braun Skin i expert is the leading brand in in IPL hair removal technology. In my personal experience, I have had one session in laser hair removal in a salon in the past and the pain is about the same. Maybe a little less with Braun because it is using light technology but the process is the same. Laser hair removal is very expensive and you must go back every month or week and pay thousands of dollars until your treatment is complete. The Braun skin expert is a great investment because you only pay once and keep the device for life so you’re free to have as many sessions as you need. This product is made to break the cycle of hair growth. Light energy is transferred through the surface of the skin and it’s absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. The absorbed light energy is converted to heat energy which disables the hair follicle. The treated hairs with fall out within the next 1-2 weeks after treatment. It’s important to note that you must not use the device if you have very dark skin or if you have blonde, red, or grey hair. The device actually has sensors that will determine if your skin is too dark for hair removal and it will not do the treatment. After the 12 week program, you should see significant hair reduction. The package comes with the Braun skin remover, four different heads to switch for each body part (standard head, wide head, and two precision heads), the power cord that comes connected to the Braun Skin remover, and a beautiful soft pink case to keep all your things inside. It also comes with a Venus disposable razor to prep the areas you will be using the device on because they must be shaved prior to starting the treatment. This device is very advanced because it comes with its own app that keeps track of your treatment areas and even reminds you of your sessions through a notification. The instructions come with a bar code that leads you to download the app and after making an account, you have the option to pick an area of the body to start using the device on. I picked the lower legs. The app told me what head I have to use on the lower legs and then what method and light sensitivity works best for that area. The app also counts how many flashes you are using on that area. To start, I pressed the treatment button on the device and kept it pressed to do the “Gliding Method” which is what the app recommended. The gliding method is just continuous flashes until I stop pressing the treatment button. Because it was my first time, it was a little tricky to get the method right because the entire head should be firmly pressed against your skin and the skin sensors on each side have to also be covered by your skin. If not, the flashes won’t go off and the device does not work. Once I got the hang of it was pretty easy and I ended up doing my entire body on the first go. It took about 45 minutes to an hour but doing a laser hair removal on your entire body takes about the same amount of time. The flashes that come from the machine can get pretty annoying after a while so I will try wearing sunglasses next time and if you have a sensitive nose, keep in mind it does smell a little like burnt hair but that means it’s working. As far as pain wise, you feel a little zap on the skin each time the flashes go off but I do not think it’s unbearable or a crazy amount of pain. It feels similar and in my opinion even less painful than doing laser hair removal. Overall, this is such a great and practical device and I can’t wait to see the results in the next couple of months.

This is an initial review of ease of setup and first use. I picked this for my wife, she has brown hair and fair skin so she should be an ideal use case for this product. She had no problem downloading the app to her mobile device which then guides you through the setup. She described the process as “super easy” since it leads you through step by step. Once you download the app and pair the device with Bluetooth, it guides you through a skin test in a small area to ensure your skin doesn’t have a reaction to the light flashes. Test a small area and wait 15min to verify the skin appears normal. There is a sensitive setting you can try if you react but her skin had no reaction so she proceeded to treatment. She started on level 1, extra sensitive, since this was her first time using this kind of device. The device senses your skin tone and will not operate if the skin is too dark. It measures skin tone during each treatment and will adjust the intensity of the light flashes accordingly. The app logs your treatment by treatment area and will alert you when you are due for the next treatment. There’s a calendar that shows when it will be also. It will schedule you for one treatment a week for 12 weeks during the initial treatment phase then you can maintain with one treatment a month or as required. The app also logs the number of flashes used, it says it has a maximum of 400,000 flashes in its life cycle. She said during use she felt a sensation like someone was tapping the skin with a fork, sharp but not painful. It also felt warm but not hot. She had professional laser hair removal done before but this device was less painful than the laser in her opinion.

Prior to trying this Braun i-expert hair removal device, neither I nor my wife had ever had any sort of waxing, IPL, or laser hair removal performed. Immediately after ordering the i-expert, I researched IPL thoroughly online and read some online user feedback which caused us a bit of anxiety and had us second-guessing the decision. There are some major safety concerns not just with this device, but IPL treatment in general. The most serious risk is to the eyes. Improperly used IPL devices can cause retinal damage. Therefore, it is strongly suggested that proper IPL treatment eye protection be worn during use. The user guide states to look away while pressing the flash button, but this doesn't seem at all practical nor sufficient enough. I ordered a pair of IPL glasses and have my wife look away with her eyes closed during treatment. Another risk is overuse. If used too frequently on the same area, IPL can cause burns and irritation. Some of the reviews I read for this device complained of burns and other discomfort. I don't know whether the alleged burns were due to user error or IPL risks in general, but we are extremely cautious during use. I advise researching and learning as much about IPL as possible before using this or any other IPL device. Despite the risks, we decided to still use the device, cautiously attempting to follow all warnings and suggestions, or so we thought. The i-expert bundle includes the device, three swappable heads (standard, wide, and precision), a single manual disposable razor and blade, and a useful carrying case that stores everything in one convenient location. The i-expert form factor is similar to my Braun electric face shavers and the device fits comfortably in one hand. Instead of foil or blades however, the swappable glass windowed heads on the i-expert contains the treatment window and two smaller skin tone detectors. The guide instructs to shave the treatment area beforehand and ensure it is clean, dry, and free of any oils, lotions, creams, or other substances. Whatever you do, do not throw away the welcome card. It was the only item I could find containing the QR code among everything in the box. The app link QR code is not on the box nor user guide. There are three QR codes on the box. Two don't work at all and one leads to a generic Braun webpage with an offer to sign up for the Braun club. We consequently ended up incorrectly using the i-expert the very first use because we followed the user guide instructions which oddly makes no mention of the app at all. Our biggest mistake was not using the flash during use. When I finally downloaded and installed the app, I discovered just how incorrectly we were using the device. Upon launching the app the first time, we plugged in and powered-on the i-expert. We then paired it to the app, I set up a user profile for my wife, and we were instructed to perform a skin test for the new user. The first test step verifies whether the skin tone is appropriate for treatment. The second step tests whether the flash causes any irritation or redness. I performed both tests on a discrete area of her leg. We then had to wait fifteen minutes to determine if any irritation or redness appeared. None appeared and the worst she experienced was a brief minor tingling sensation similar to a mild shock whenever the device flashed. It also emits an extremely bright red light, a loud cracking sound, and an unpleasant acrid burning scent with the pulse flashes. Although it smells a little alarming, she did not experience any pain or burning. After the skin tests were successfully completed, we were able to use the machine normally. Our typical use involves the following steps: 1. We plug in the AC power and push any button to power device on. 2. We launch the Braun IPL app and select a treatment area. 3. The app instructs which head is most appropriate for use based on our profile and body region selected. 4. We then slowly glide the device over the treatment area while ensuring the head is pressed correctly against the skin and pressing the flash button as we glide. We have to glide in adjacent paths being careful not to double-treat any areas. A red light indicates if the device contacts aren't making proper connection with the skin. 5. For treatment, we slowly glide the i-expert across the treated area. The guide says to only glide once and not to re-swipe areas that were already treated. Another method mentioned in the user guide is the stamp, but we've not been instructed to use that mode yet. Just as it sounds, it involves pressing the device head against the skin like a stamp instead of gliding it over the skin. 6. We follow the guidance of the app until the treatment is completed. 7. Once we are done with treatment, we schedule the next treatment, unplug the device, wipe the head with a dry cloth to clean it necessary, and store it in the provided case. The i-expert uses power levels from 1-10 depending on skin tone and also has a sensitive mode. The device automatically selects the most appropriate setting for the detected skin tone and will suggest if sensitive mode should be used based on treated body region. If skin tone is too dark, the device displays a red light and it will not pulse. Optionally, the power level can be set manually, although we are in no rush to try that. The automatic mode and app are sufficient for now. There are also guidelines that should be followed in sensitive areas like bikini lines, and other intimate or sensitive areas. It is instructed not to use it on the genitals, and for males it can't be used on the face or neck. I assist my wife with treatments not just to protect her eyes, but because the device can be cumbersome to use solo due to the large clumsy power brick, eye risks, and difficulty keeping the head properly pressed against the skin which isn't as simple as it sounds. Although it's easier to use with two people, it can be used solo if necessary. My wife noticed that the hair on the initially treated leg areas doesn't appear to be trying to grow back as quickly as it did before treatment. It has only been a week so far, but we're seeing encouraging signs. The user guide advises that noticeable results can take several weeks to appear although it states treated hairs can begin falling out in as little as a few days after treatment. The guide suggests completing twelve weeks of treatment, but the app set our first legs treatment period at six weekly treatments. I'll see if it increases after the initial six weeks. If not, I'll likely follow the app rather than the guide since I trust the app is more up-to-date and accurate based on my wife's skin tone. Our experience so far with the Braun i-expert has been mostly positive. My wife hasn't experienced any pain or discomfort and we have no issues using it while being guided through the app. The app greatly simplifies and demystifies the process while making it easy to perform, schedule, and adhere to treatments. That being said, there are a few areas that could be improved. The first is that the QR code for the app should be displayed more prominently. The app is crucial for proper use, so it should be displayed in more locations than only on a welcome card that is likely to be tossed out with the box. There are no links to the app nor any mention of it in the user guide. There is a QR code on the front cover of the user guide which I initially thought was a link to the app. Much to my chagrin, it instead also leads to the above-mentioned website to join the Braun club. The packaging and guides provide more opportunities to join the Braun club than to download the app. Another major con with the app is privacy. In order to use the app, I had to agree to the privacy policy which clearly states: "NOTICE: We may sell your sensitive personal data". Other privacy concerns include the use of UXCam and Google Firebase which can record screen actions, gestures and scrolls as well as usage analytics. UXCam and Firebase are at least optional, but I had to agree to potentially allow my sensitive private data to be sold before I could use the app. The wording claims this permission can be revoked at any time, and I did subsequently disable the setting allowing the collection of research data within the app. However, I'm not confident that act alone will prevent the sale of my private data. I plan to comb through the entire privacy policy when I have the free time to do so.

Affordable at Home Laser Hair Removal

I’m saying I got this for my girlfriend but in truth, I got it for both of us as we have stubborn hair we want to remove. My girlfriend has been trying different hair removal methods for years now, from waxing to sugar scrubs which aren’t terribly expensive but also not as effective. She looked at Laser Hair removal, but the cost of treatment at an office quickly turned her away. Not to mention each set of treatments would be another exorbitantly expensive bill. So, I decided to give the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert Home Hair Removal a try, as it’s a fraction of the price of a single in office treatment! Pros: - Safe & Easy at home hair removal. - Measures Skin on each use. - Multiple Settings: Normal, Sensitive, and Extra Sensitive. - Multiple heads for targeted use. Cons: - Can cause skin irritation. - Weekly treatments for 8-12 weeks. - Limited number of uses (400,000) Setup: Opening the packaging reveals a nice and organized carrying case, that has the Skin i-Expert device, 4 heads (1 attached to the device and 3 in the lower section of the case), a Venus razer handle, and a Venus Razer cartridge. The case keeps everything organized and well packed, perfect for travel or just having it put away when not in use. The included heads are perfect for targeting specific areas: Standard Cap for general use, Smart Wide Cap for body & back, Face Smart Precision Cap, and Intimate Smart Precision Cap. There’s no need to set which cap your using, as the device will detect which cap is attached and adjust the settings accordingly. After opening the package and taking everything out, the next thing to do is download and install the Braun IPL App. The App will walk you through account setup and pairing the Skin i-Expert device to your account. It seems like the device can be used without the app, but I wouldn’t try as the app guides and tracks the treatment details, which when using any kind of medical/semi-professional tool is safer when following the instructions. It’s lasers, I’m not going to play around with these and my skin. App: The Braun IPL app is straight forward, after setup the guide asks you to do a patch test on your skin before starting treatment. Do this before doing anything else. After the skin test and 15min wait period, you can schedule a treatment by clicking the “+” sign at the bottom right side of the app. This will then guide you through a set of questions to schedule a treatment plan: select the area you want to treat, select the color of the hair in the selected area, select the density of the hair in the selected area, select the pace of treatment, select the start date, and finally a confirmation of the treatment plan. This really takes the guessing out of the whole process, which helps eliminate many of the concerns about doing laser hair removal at home. Skin Test: Seriously, I’m glad that Braun locks the app until you do the Skin Test and wait 15mins. With the risks that come from using laser hair removal, I’m glad to see the safety precautions in place. Do the Skin Test and Wait the 15mins. The instructions for the Skin Test and for all treatments are to prepare the treatment by clean shaving the area with a razor first, then wiping dry before using the Skin i-Expert. I found the Skin test was quick and easy, I did feel a little tingle, but nothing long lasting or visible after the test. I used the sensitive setting, 2 lit dots, for the first test as I tend to have reactions to most skin related products. After the test, I performed a first treatment on the backside of my legs without any issues. It was a weird experience, and would recommend getting help, if possible, from your significant other if you feel comfortable, as reaching specific areas can be a challenge and you’ll want to be as accurate as possible when using this device for best results. I also did a skin test on my girlfriends’ shin, a place where she was less worried about any marks. I set the setting the Extra Sensitive, 1 lit dot. This time, I did notice some visible changes because she hadn’t shaved for a few days. The hair where we did the skin test was completely clear of hair and we could smell that distinct “Burn Hair” smell. It was surprising, but also cool to see it literally work! Using it: Honestly, I was concerned about using the Skin i-Expert the first time. But after the skin test, I realized there wasn’t anything to be worried about as long as I followed the guided instructions. During each use, the Skin i-Expert measures your skin tone, so even if you get a little too much sun, the device will adjust based on each use. This makes the possibility of burning your skin much lower, but your hair will be burned away! The guide tells you to prepare the skin in the treatment area (clean shave), then place the device on your skin so that both little sensors on the side of the window make contact, or the device will give you an “error” that it is not ready for use. Once you have a solid contact, you can press the Wireless signal button, and a quick flash will occur. Then the guide will tell you to move the device to the next spot and repeat until the full area is treated. On specific areas like the legs or arms, the guide might direct you to slowly slide the device on the skin, but I’ve not encountered those situations yet. One thing you might notice in the app is the number of flashes. This device has a limited number of uses, 400,000 flashes to be exact. Braun claims the Skin i-Expert will last for 22 years of treatment, but your milage will vary based on use, skin and hair type. Either way, going into this I expected it to be cheaper than laser hair removal treatment but have some caveats. Treatment Plans & Results: One thing you might have pickup on at this point is that this treatment method for hair removal is not instant, it will take months to see full results]. Depending on your selected treatment plan you will not see full results until 8 to 12 weeks, 2-3 months. And during the treatment time, you will need to shave the area before each treatment. Surprisingly, even after the first use I could see noticeable differences on the areas that were treated with hair being completely removed. Now that lasted for a day or so, then the hair did come back but less dense. I thought I’d have to wait weeks to see results, but the results are just subtle, increasing after each successive treatment week. I’ve got it set to use for 8 weeks for full treatment, with no adverse effects the hair has started to grow back subtly in the treatment area. Just 7 more weeks, or more. There is a disclaimer that treatment will last for up to 1.5 years, so it is expected that you will have to repeat treatments on areas again once hair begins to grow back. Even if that is the case, to have less hair in an area for any duration with minimum effort or painful treatments, and no side effects so far is a great prospect. Conclusion: If you want hair removal, but at home for the fraction of the cost of professional treatment, the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert Home Hair Removal device is the way to go. Braun makes the processes safe and easy to follow with the Braun IPL app providing a step-by-step guide and scheduling for treatment. I wasn’t expecting to look forward to zapping my hair away, but the Skin i-Expert has made this a painless process I can do at my own convenience.

I’ve been using the Braun IPL Skin i·Expert for just over a three weeks now, and I am honestly blown away by the results. After only 3 sessions, I already noticed a significant reduction in hair growth—especially on my legs and underarms. It’s not just hype; this device really works. Setup was super easy. The app guides you step by step and helps customize treatment areas, which makes it almost impossible to mess up. The Skin Pro 2.0 technology automatically adjusts the light intensity based on my skin tone, so I feel confident and safe using it. And let me just say, it’s practically painless—just a slight warm sensation that fades quickly. The device itself feels premium and durable. The cord is long enough to move comfortably, and the different attachments for face and body are a thoughtful touch. I’ve already stopped shaving every other day—I now shave maybe once a week, if that. If you’re tired of shaving or waxing and want a long-term solution from the comfort of your home, this is it. It’s an investment, yes, but considering what I used to spend on waxing appointments and razors, this will pay for itself in no time. Thank you, Braun, for making professional-level IPL treatment accessible, safe, and easy. I’m genuinely excited for summer now—smooth skin, no stress. Highly recommended!

The Braun IPL Skin I-expert is a hair removal tool that should show results after a few uses. I’ll start with making sure you look at the side of the box to make sure your hair color and skin are the right match. Once you’ve got that piece down, inside the box is a really nice storage case. You get the cable, it’s not cordless but I think that makes sense considering what it does. There are 3 different sized heads and a standard Venus razor handle and attachment. The QR code is everywhere so scan that and download the app, you’ll want it! You do have to create an account. This is what will guide you through using it. Syncing it up with Bluetooth and WiFi was easy. Next you’ll pick the area you want to focus on. I went with my armpits to start. Some place most people won’t see just in case I had any kind of reaction. I did shave my armpits first, and then using the widest head pressed it against my skin. There’s a red light that will show in case you’re not pressing correctly. I didn’t feel any pain really, but I did feel something, maybe a slight sting. So far I have not had a lot of time to do the treatments and I cannot speak to its effectiveness but I will keep using it. Going in for waxing is inconvenient and costly. Hopefully this will start making a real difference and I can stop going in every few weeks for waxing. As I get older there may be other areas I want to use this on and so I’ll be sure to try it on them as well. The only other thing I would say is just make sure you aren’t staring at the flashing, it can’t be good for your eyes. As far as recommending this, I think it’s worth trying if it’s something you’ve been curious about trying.

BrAun IPL i-Expert brings Salon like Hair Removal at the convenience of your own home and saves a lot of money and time in the process! It's nicely packed and comes with a storage/carrying case as well with different heads for precession or large areas and stuff like that. They also include a good razor that you'll have to use before you start the process. And the power cord is long enough to give you the right mobility so pretty much you'll be able to either store everything nicely for when needed in the bag provided or take it with you on a trip let's say without leaving anything behind. The BrAun App needs to be downloaded and it makes this iPL hair removal so much more intuitive as well as personalized to the use of your own type of skin(by scanning it). It is a true PRO device that used by following the simple instructions will give you the results of long lasting hair removal that we all want so bad! The app will track your progress and send you allerts on your phone and i would give it around 3 weeks to really see the results. Bottom line this is a product that's worth the money and will boost your confidence and save you time/money in long run!

This thing works. We've been looking for a consumer version of professional grade systems and this is it. 5 sessions later and hair is no longer growing. Minimal pain and comfort of doing it in your own home make this an easy choice if you're considering it. Compared to professional laser hair removal, this thing pays for itself in only a few uses and the results speak for themselves.

It's been almost a month since I've purchased and started using this device, and I've seen some amazing results with absolutely no pain. I'm pale with dark brown hair, and my arms are nearly hairless, I need to shave once a week (usually right before I do my next session). My upper legs are hairless and I don't need to shave, but I do prior to my weekly session just to make it more permanent. My shins and calves grow hair much slower and I can go three days without shaving (I used to grow a five o'clock shadow on my legs before most men do on their face. And the strawberry leg look is mostly gone. I have four more sessions, before I'm in the maintenance era, but it's looking positive! I will say that I wish it came with eye protection. I know that if you read the instructions, it'll say don't look at the flashes and that it's safe for our eyes. But I find that hard to believe, especially if the professionals use protective eye wear. I ended up researching the best eye protection for at home IPL devices and ordered it from Philips.

10/10!! I noticed results after the first session. Face, belly, arms, legs, back. I’ve used on my brother, mom, sister and myself. We have all seen dramatic results. Only thing I regret is not buying sooner. I was so skeptical I didnt even take before pictures because I thought I would be returning. Plot twist! Absoluting keeping and am doing weekly sessions. On my 3rd week and my arm hair and chin hair is almost completely gone already.

This is a great product with several great features and easy to use for convenient at home hair removal. Noted below are the key pros and cons from my experience with this product: Pros: -The IPL iExpert came with really nice packaging. It was nicely organized and comes with a tan carrying box, which fits the hair remover, adapter plug cord, two additional treatment heads, and a mini Venus razor. - The package includes detailed instructions, precautions/warnings around skin types, and the welcome document included a QR code to scan your product information within the app. Easily portable with all of the items, including the multiple product heads that can be used for various body parts. - User-friendly app that navigates you through the entire process to set up your device. Bluetooth connection enables syncing with your mobile device, which provides step-by-step details on setting up your device, testing the product to ensure it works, and then doing a skin test to make sure that you don’t experience any reactions to the product. - App allows you to track your usage and develop a plan for routine use, with an option for notifications based on the schedule that you develop. - Even with sensitive skin, the product was not overbearing and it didn’t irritate my skin. The pain level was tolerable and it rapidly adjusts with one click if needed while using the device. I found level 5 to be the best level for my personal tolerance. - I noticed results after one use. I used the device on one area of my arm and compared it to the same area my other arm (both shaved on the same day), and there was a significant difference between the hair growth when comparing the two areas after 3 days. - The gliding head was my favorite accessory with this product. It was easy to use and made the process a bit faster, which I would prefer for quick maintenance or routine touch-ups. Cons: - The cord is a decent length, but I would have preferred it to be slightly longer. I was able to use it at my home with no issue, but the portable aspect of this product becomes slightly limited if you intend to take it on travel with you and outlet access may not be close enough. - You need to make sure that the product head fully covers the area you are treating. I have a smaller body frame and therefore needed to switch between the original product head and the small head as I was using it to ensure I was covering the intended area. - The flash on the product is very bright and makes it hard to use for a long period. Overall, this is a great product and very easy to use. I would recommend it for an easy-to-use, home treatment for hair removal.
