This is a great product with several great features and easy to use for convenient at home hair removal. Noted below are the key pros and cons from my experience with this product:
Pros:
-The IPL iExpert came with really nice packaging. It was nicely organized and comes with a tan carrying box, which fits the hair remover, adapter plug cord, two additional treatment heads, and a mini Venus razor.
- The package includes detailed instructions, precautions/warnings around skin types, and the welcome document included a QR code to scan your product information within the app.
Easily portable with all of the items, including the multiple product heads that can be used for various body parts.
- User-friendly app that navigates you through the entire process to set up your device. Bluetooth connection enables syncing with your mobile device, which provides step-by-step details on setting up your device, testing the product to ensure it works, and then doing a skin test to make sure that you don’t experience any reactions to the product.
- App allows you to track your usage and develop a plan for routine use, with an option for notifications based on the schedule that you develop.
- Even with sensitive skin, the product was not overbearing and it didn’t irritate my skin.
The pain level was tolerable and it rapidly adjusts with one click if needed while using the device. I found level 5 to be the best level for my personal tolerance.
- I noticed results after one use. I used the device on one area of my arm and compared it to the same area my other arm (both shaved on the same day), and there was a significant difference between the hair growth when comparing the two areas after 3 days.
- The gliding head was my favorite accessory with this product. It was easy to use and made the process a bit faster, which I would prefer for quick maintenance or routine touch-ups.
Cons:
- The cord is a decent length, but I would have preferred it to be slightly longer. I was able to use it at my home with no issue, but the portable aspect of this product becomes slightly limited if you intend to take it on travel with you and outlet access may not be close enough.
- You need to make sure that the product head fully covers the area you are treating. I have a smaller body frame and therefore needed to switch between the original product head and the small head as I was using it to ensure I was covering the intended area.
- The flash on the product is very bright and makes it hard to use for a long period.
Overall, this is a great product and very easy to use. I would recommend it for an easy-to-use, home treatment for hair removal.

Way Cheaper than Spa

Way easier than going to the spa. The good thing is that you can do this weekly from the comfort of your home. If you go to a spa it’s very expensive and you have to make an appointment every 6-8 weeks. For the price of this unit vs going to the spa it is a game changer.
The unit comes in a very well packaged box and the carrying case is very nice. The best part is the app that tells you your schedule and when it’s time for another treatment. One thing to consider is that you must read the instructions and start off on the lowest level after testing an inconspicuous area. One hard thing over the summer is that you shouldn’t use it if you’ve been in the sun or plan to because it can cause pigmentation. I’ve been using for 3 weeks now and can certainly tell that the hair is lighter and thinner however the true test of time is uncertain. My guess is that it will take many more weeks to see ultimate results yet I’m optimistic. Note: if you are looking for overnight results this is not for you. These treatments take months and you have to be patient. This is not like shaving or waxing. Even when the hair stops growing you still need to use this.
Overall, I’m impressed from what I’ve seen so far. Definitely a change in my hair. Painless, easy, cheap ( compared to spas) and a really nice app and unit. Again, to be determined based on how long laser works but I’m guessing this will be just as effective of going to the spa every two months.

So far so good

I will preface my review with this - the device's documentation clearly indicates the process in full takes 6 weeks, so this is based on the experiences of both me and my wife.
I have a few oddball hairs that grow high up on my cheek-bones that I routinely miss because theyre so high compared to the rest of my facial hair, so I've been targeting those with this device. My wife has some hairs on her chin that she would like gone-for-good, so those have been her focus.
The device is targeted for persons with fair complexion and dark hair - that fits both of us to a T.
Both of us have had the same experiences with the device - it caught us a little off-guard "ZAP!" but once you get used to it there's no pain, it just startles you a little.
We've been doing this daily for a few weeks now and noticing a reduction in hair.
So the app was super user friendly. Love that it scanned our skin type to set it in the app. It sets up reminders and tells you which head to use for the body part being done.
The case is very stylish while being practical to keep everything together.
So far after three treatments, we can already see a reduction in hair and the ones there almost fall out if being plucked.
My wife can really appreciate the luxury of being able to do this at home on her own schedule and the device is a fraction of what it would cost her at a salon.
I personally wouldn't do the salon thing, but if I can stop from having to shave these hairs that I keep missing, I'm all for it! I've tried similar devices but this one actually seems to be working!

The Braun IPL Skin i-Expert home hair removal kit does it all. It has multiple heads to adjust to different areas of the body that you may want to perform hair removal, it has a handy app that makes sure you never forget a session and can configure the device for safe and proper use, and even has a razor included in the box! The setup was super simple, within 10 minutes I was up and running. The app guided me through the entire process and really gave me peace of mind that I was using this device properly, the last thing I want to do is get burned or otherwise injured and the app makes sure that doesn't happen if you follow the directions. The entire treatment only takes minutes, and is much cheaper than paying for laser hair removal sessions! The process was painless, and I am hopeful that the results will be amazing! It does take some time to see the hair removal progress so I can't really speak to the effectiveness other than to say it does seem to be slowly working after only a week of use. I do wish that the cord wasn't so short, it does make it challenging to use, but this is easily remedied with an extension cord.

My review preambles usually start with some history of a company or line of products related to what I’m reviewing, but I struggle to come up with one here. My fiancee and I, both being people with particularly high levels of body hair, were elated to find a major skincare brand like Braun offering a hair removal system that filled a niche between cheap but time-consuming daily shaving, and permanent but costly hair removal techniques like laser or electrolysis. This led us to do some research on intense-pulsed-light (IPL) hair removal, and with the process receiving FDA approval in 1995 and years of iterative improvement, we decided to try the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert Hair Removal system. While it’s still a little early to make the call whether it’s truly effective long-term, the i-Expert is a relatively easy-to-use device that’s only marred by poorly-implemented smart functionality.
An important disclaimer: At-home IPL hair removal is FDA-approved, but exposure to IPL light can still cause reactions or even burns for sensitive individuals or those with skin conditions, and the effectiveness of IPL treatments is limited to those with dark hair and lighter skin tones. If you have *any* doubts to the safety and efficacy of at-home systems like the Braun i-Expert, speak to your physician or a dermatologist prior to purchase.
- Unboxing and Setup
Arriving in a stylish pale pink carrying case, the Braun i-Expert comes with the device, attached power cable, three additional heads for focused spot treatment, a Venus razor and head for your the initial shave, and a printed, fully detailed instruction manual. In an era where everything has an app and QR code for setup and documentation (which the i-Expert has as well), I am pleasantly surprised that all the information I needed to get started and use the device was in my hands. Since the i-Expert arrives fully assembled it’s just a matter of plugging it in and getting to work, though I HIGHLY recommend reading the manual as caution should be exercised using this specialty device.
Setting up the i-Expert using the application was a less enjoyable experience. See the “App” section below for more.
- Treatment
The Braun i-Expert is simple to use with or without the Braun app. After plugging in and pressing the treatment button for the first time, the device will power on with blue lights illuminating from under the skin tone sensors and an audible cooling fan spinning up.
Using the skin i-Expert is fairly simple. Placing the treatment window against the area to be treated, the LED power bars on the side of the device show the intensity of the IPL flash that will occur when pressing Treat - higher power for lighter skin tones, lower power for darker skin tones - alongside the sensitivity setting (3 levels) as set from the sensitivity setting. My fiancee and I both have very light skin tones and dark hair, and both of us saw the power bar at a high, but not maximum, setting. Several heads with different size treatment windows are included for more focused treatment where necessary.
Pressing Treat delivers a very bright flash of IPL light through the treatment window that Braun recommends you look away from when activating. Indeed, my first treatment for the skin test surprised me with what looked like a camera flash right against my skin, accompanied by a faint stinging sensation and followed shortly by the smell of burnt hair from the treated region (though no hair appeared visibly burned). It appears this is normal for IPL and laser treatments since they are effectively searing the hair follicles to shock them into stunted or delayed regrowth. This mild discomfort faded quickly, and after the 15 minute wait for any adverse skin reactions I was ready to treat the desired areas.
The i-Expert works in effectively two modes - either single presses for spot treatment (as my fiancee uses for some stubborn chin hair) or a continuous hold for a long swipe of a larger area, as the IPL delivers pulses approximately every half or two-thirds of second. The latter makes it easy to accidentally treat the same area of skin twice, which does sting quite a bit. I tried to use this mode to treat my armpits but struggled to keep a consistent, smooth motion and went back to single-press treatments to avoid the sensation of burning myself again.
All in all, it may not be the most comfortable home hair removal method there is, but it’s easy to use the i-Expert and treat both large and small areas of skin. I’ve only used the device once after shaving the areas I wanted to treat so it’s hard to say if it will be effective long-term (Braun suggests weekly treatments for the first 8-12 weeks for best results), but I did already notice a reduction in what I’d call typical regrowth in the treated areas - the hair follicles look about a quarter, maybe a third less dense than before treatment. Braun notes it can take a couple days for some hair follicles to let go, but seeing some change after just one round of treatment gives me confidence. Time will tell if this IPL hair removal system is effective for us.
- App
Here’s where things start to go south for the IPL i-Expert. Setting up the Braun IPL app for the first time, I found it required the creation of a Braun account - a major detriment and privacy concern when single-sign-on through Google, Apple, and other services exists. Braun claims they are only using data from the app and i-Expert for treatment plans and to “improve” future offerings, but color me skeptical.
In any case, the app presents nicely but is still cumbersome to use for its limited features and bug-ridden setup that required me to attempt to pair and re-pair the Braun i-Expert multiple times. Worse yet, the app required me to connect the i-Expert to WiFi…which like many other “smart” devices in the year 2025, required me to re-enable the 2.4GHz WiFi network on my router, and there was no option to skip this.
After the aggravation of setup, I was presented with an app that acts as a glorified calendar and life meter for the i-Expert - functions that did not add anything of value to how I used the device, though I did notice that the life meter indicates the i-Expert is good for 400,000 IPL pulses. This should last about a decade with use as recommended by Braun, but more concerning was the fact I counted how many times I used the IPL treatment and saw exactly double the amount of flashes noted on the life meter. I’m not sure whether the app is accounting for flashes differently because I connected the app after doing my first treatment session, but in any case I was a little surprised to see that.
- Bottom Line
Easy to use once set up and comfortable with how the device works (and taking into consideration the areas Braun recommends you do not use the device on, e.g. near mucus membranes), the Braun IPL Skin i-Expert is a solid device that takes quite a bit of guesswork out of the process of at-home IPL hair removal. Though it can cause some discomfort and mild stinging sensations, and the technology doesn’t work on all skin and hair types, it’s a relatively affordable alternative to more expensive dermatologist treatments that just might be the gap option you’re looking for…with the caveats aforementioned in this review. Some better guidance for effective treatment and an app that provides more value would be very welcome improvements.
Coming up with a recommendation for this product is difficult with only a week to test, given that Braun recommends 8 to 12 weeks worth of treatment to see long-lasting results. There is also a potential concern for safety with long-term use and exposure to IPL light - though IPL therapy is FDA-approved and Braun has performed the requisite clinical testing, the litany of warnings and precautions in the user manual are just enough to raise an eyebrow.
My “Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend” selection here is very conditional. Check other reviews and accounts of this product, especially from those who have completed the first 8-12 weeks of treatment, prior to purchase.

Alright, fellas, let's talk about body hair, specifically those rogue hairs that pop up as you get a bit older. For me, it's the arms. I'm hitting that age where I'm noticing more and more gray hairs showing up, and honestly, I'm just not a fan of that look. I've been thinking about the hair on my arms and other parts of my body turning gray for a very long time now. I wanted a way to get rid of them without constantly shaving or shelling out big bucks at a salon. I figured, why not give the Braun IPL Hair Removal System a shot? I was really hoping this could be the answer to keeping my arms looking clean. So, I ripped open the box, gave the instruction manual a good once-over (seriously, don't skip that part!), and got ready to tackle that unwanted arm hair. I really wanted to take my time with this review and make sure I got everything I needed to get in it. My Journey with the Braun IPL System getting this thing ready was pretty simple, no rocket science involved. The main rule, right from the jump, is to shave the areas you're planning to treat. The IPL light needs to hit the hair roots, not the hair on the surface. So, after a quick buzz on my arms, I made sure my skin was bone dry and clean – no lotions, no creams, just plain skin. One thing that immediately impressed me, and definitely put my mind at ease, was the SkinPro sensor (sometimes they call it SensoAdapt). My skin tone is, well, it's in that middle zone – just light enough to qualify for IPL treatment. This sensor is genius because it automatically checks your skin tone and sets the perfect light intensity. No guessing games, which is awesome, especially when you're dealing with different areas of your body that might have slightly varied tones. It made me feel a lot safer, knowing the device was adjusting itself to prevent any issues. Before my first full session, I also made sure to do a patch test on a small area of my arm, exactly like the manual said. Waiting that day or two to confirm no bad reactions popped up was totally worth it for the peace of mind. Actually using the device is a breeze. For my arms, which are a larger area, I mostly used the Glide Mode – you just press and hold the button, then slowly slide the device over your skin. It flashes automatically as you go, super quick and efficient. For any smaller or curvier spots, the Stamp Mode (press for a flash, lift, then move to the next spot) works perfectly. My kit came with different little heads, which are handy for getting into those more awkward areas if I decide to use it elsewhere down the line. Now, about the sensation: it hardly hurts! It’s definitely not like ripping hair out with waxing. You feel a warm flash, maybe a tiny, quick flick, but that's really it. I committed to the suggested schedule, which is twice a week for 4 to 12 weeks (though I've only used it for a short time so far). Let me tell you, sticking to that schedule is the real key here! Even with only 6 days of use, I've had really good results so far, and I definitely plan to keep using it until all the hair is gone off my arms, hopefully! After each session, I'd just quickly wipe down the device (it’s easy to clean!) and then put on some gentle, unscented moisturizer. Crucially, I always made sure to put on sleeved shirt on my arms if I was going outside, especially right after a session. Avoiding hot showers and strong-smelling products for a day also seemed to help my skin feel good. What I Really Liked About It (The Good Stuff) Super Smart Sensor: That SkinPro sensor is a lifesaver. It makes sure the treatment is safe for my skin tone by automatically adjusting the light. No need to stress about setting it wrong. Easy to Use: The two modes (Glide and Stamp) make it simple to cover all sorts of body parts, from big areas like arms to smaller ones. Different Heads: The included attachments are a nice touch, giving you versatility for various areas.Real Hair Reduction (Early Signs!): This isn't just a temporary fix. Even in my short time using it, I've noticed my hair growth definitely slowing down, and my arms feel much smoother for much longer. Ultimate Convenience: Being able to do this at home, whenever I have some free time, is a massive advantage. No appointments, no travel time. Always Ready to Go: It plugs directly into the wall, so you don't have to worry about a battery dying mid-session. Things to Keep in Mind (The Not-So-Great Stuff) Hair Color Matters (A Lot!): This is super important for me and potentially for you too. IPL works best on hair with melanin, which means darker hair. It is generally not effective on very light blonde, red, gray, or white hair. This is a bummer if, like me, you're looking to target those gray hairs specifically. The device won't "see" them to treat them. You'll get results on your darker hairs, but the grays will likely remain. Not for Everyone Else: Beyond hair color, if your skin is naturally very dark, IPL also won't work for you. Always double-check their compatibility chart. You Gotta Be Consistent (Long-Term): While I've only just started, the instructions emphasize that sticking to weekly sessions for several weeks is key for the best long-term results. No Instant Magic: Don't expect to be completely hair-free after just one session. It's a gradual process, so patience is key. Prep Work Required: You can't just grab it and go. You need to shave and make sure your skin is clean and dry before every treatment. Watch Out for Certain Areas: Be careful around tattoos, very dark moles, scars, and super sensitive spots like near your eyes or intimate genital areas. The manual lists these clearly. Also, for men, Braun specifically advises not to use it on the face, neck, or genital area to avoid uneven results or discomfort. My Final Verdict and Recommendation Honestly, for reducing overall body hair, especially on areas like arms, the Braun IPL Hair Removal System has been a fantastic decision for me, even with just 6 days of use. It really does deliver on its promise of long-lasting hair reduction, and the convenience of doing it at home is unbeatable. Even with my skin being on the slightly darker side of compatible tones, the device worked perfectly and safely for my darker hairs. While it does require you to be pretty dedicated and it won't magically eliminate those gray hairs (a key point for me!), if you're looking for a genuinely effective and relatively painless way to get smoother skin on your body without constant shaving or salon prices, I'd absolutely say give the Braun IPL system a try! Just make sure you read the instructions, understand its limitations for hair color, check if it's right for your hair and skin, and be ready to commit to those regular sessions. You might just love the results as much as I do!

Being a relatively furry guy, I like to keeps things in-check and well-manscaped. I have tried other IPL units before but keeping track of my IPL sessions was kind of pain. Thanks to this new Braun Skin i-Expert IPL unit and Braun IPL app, most of the tedious hard work is done for me.
I'll be providing initial impressions here, as the manual states that it would take up to 12 weeks to fully see real results. The box contains the user manual, the IPL unit (with attached cord and power brick and standard flash head), main power cord, 3 additional flash heads – one for wider areas, one for precision body areas and one for precise facial areas. Plus, there is conveniently a Gillette Venus razor and a handled carrying case to hold it all neatly. Aesthetically, it's obviously geared towards women as the unit and case colors are more of a soft bronze/blush tone. That's fine by me, as long as the unit performs well. There is a QR scan card in the box that once scanned, downloads the accompanying Braun IPL app and links the Skin i-Expert to your account.
Set up was easy and the unit was ready to use in no time. After opening the app and creating an account, I could then set up an IPL plan that lasts 50 days and has a reminder that can alert you the day before or the day of treatment sessions. After using the unit, which is connected via Bluetooth and Wifi (set up required) will then store the session automatically. That way I don't have to input anything which will make it much easier to track and complete the plan. It automatically scans and calibrates the flash power plus it learns how you use it, as you use it. That's the AI bit that is built into the unit. All you need to do to properly follow the plan is to first shave the area and then use the IPL on a specified target area. The app gives you many body areas, both male and female, that you can specify for the plan.
Actual usage was fast and relatively pain-free. The unit has a built-in sensor that will automatically scan your skin for tone color and will adjust the flash/pulse strength accordingly (there's a built in led chart on the side that shows the auto-selected strength). You can also select from 3 pulse strengths manually (standard, sensitive and extra sensitive) if that is more your preference. You can use the glide technique where you slide the unit along the treatment area while holding down the button or the old stamping method of placing the unit and then pressing the button once. The pain is not bad at all, even at full power. It's a slight sting which is very common among IPL units....nothing unusual here. Make sure to read the manual as it explains where the system should and shouldn't be used. It varies also from male to female body areas so look over the manually throughly for the safest guidance. Generally speaking, the unit can be used for most of the body below the neck minus the most intimate areas for men and women. Also, females can use it for top lip treatments but it's not recommended for men to use this IPL system on their face. There's also the across-the-board skin tone and hair color limitations that all IPL systems suffer from. I used the unit a few times my first week just to get used to it. The actual unit itself isn't an issue for usage, but the cord and its power block make it heavier than it should be. It gets somewhat cumbersome and you do feel the weight before the session is over. I really hope that Braun can figure out a cordless system so that ease of use can be taken to the next level. I used the glide technique and the targeted area was complete in just a couple of minutes. It was fast indeed. I will mention that the glide flashes may be fast or slow depending on the sensor readings that automatically adjust to your skin color. Sometimes the flashes were very quick and then they slowed over other skin areas, so don't expect them to all be the same.
The real test will be over the next 50 days to12 weeks to see if my target area stays smoother. I am relying on the app to remind me of treatment days (once pre week) but following the plan should very simple since the app and unit keep track of everything for me. Overall, the unit is very high quality and easy to use. The added case makes a huge difference for storage and it very much appreciated. I just hope that soon, all this amazing tech will be squeezed into a cordless unit so that using it will be even easier. Fingers crossed, Braun!

There is a long list of IPL home hair removal devices out there. This is certainly one of the better ones, despite its slightly higher price.
First, IPL is not a QUICK solution, it takes several weeks (sometimes months) to get the long lasting results that most are seeking. It only takes minutes to use, but you need to use it weekly, for long lasting results, and there takes some prep work to.
So the included razor is just a standard disposable one. So not going to review it more than that.
The device it self. The length of the cord is very good. allows for usage in the bathroom or elsewhere. If using around a water source, ensure you are plugging it into a GFCI outlet for safety reasons. the two cords (into the power supply, and then to the device), allow for easy placement on a counter or shelf, or on the floor or chair..
Using the device without the app, is very straight forward.
After you prep and dry your skin, you will take a moment or two in each area, press... flash, and move on. Yes, it does it get hot, sometimes very hot, but that is what it supposed to do. It can take a while to get used to the sensation, but it only lasts for a moment.
Use caution not to look into the residual flash light that leaks out from the sides.
The device is smart, and won't allow you to flash, if you don't have good contact.
I have found it more forgiving than others that have been tried.
The different tips, allows you to pin-point treatment, depending on the skin area.
Super easy to remove the cap, and put a different on on. Experiment on which works best for you.
The app... Ultimately haven't used the app that much, as it just makes simple sense on how to use.
If you have used an IPL before, you may find you don't need the app at all.
This has a continuous mode, for larger areas, like legs and arms, which makes applying quicker.
Does take some time to get used to that, and the technique.
The storage case is great. many IPL's don't come with one.
It is a nice bonus so you can keep it out of sight, and not in the way.. since you only need it for a few minutes every week.
Read the description to ensure your skin and hair type is compatible, else you would just be wasting your money an time

This is an extremely high-quality product and has the high-end features that Braun is known for. The unit is about the size of a regular electric razor. It needs to remain plugged in during use and the power brick is permanently attached to the unit. The carry case is very nice and holds the unit and all accessories neatly and in a convenient carry case. It comes with several attachments for different body parts, as well as nice razer. The razer is used to remove hair prior to using the laser system. Use of the hair removal unit is easy and convenient. There is a slight shocking sensation when using but is barely noticeable once you get used to it. A full session only takes ten minutes or less. After several days of use you are able to start to see results. The app is supposed to help track progress, but it needs a lot of work, and I don't recommend using. The unit works just fine by itself, and the results are obvious over time. I expect the results to be even better over the next couple of weeks, and I highly recommend for a professional hair removal experience. I would have given it 5 stars if it either it did not have an available app, or the available app was helpful.

First off- why 4 stars and not 5 that the IPL deserves...the packaging. Too much cardboard but at least I can recycle that. The container itself is a cutsie little purse thing like an old fashion cosmetic suitcase. So, when I want to use it, I have to open it up, wrestle with the holder to get to the different sized tops, and then put it back. Not happening here. Useless expense that very few people would want to pay for.
Anyway, so I use it on my face (getting older and really suck). I go through the steps to prep my face and plug it in. That is how you turn it on. I used the wide top to get my chin and larger areas, and the small one for areas around my mouth. Both worked great! I love how the instructions read something like "you may feel a little warmness". No- you feel a snap like a rubber band. It hurts for a spit second so it is worth it for me. I will use it on the rest of my body soon,
Anyway, the joules are not as high as my last IPL machine but thats fine- the 'rubber band' snap is also not as bad. Easy to hold, easy to read power lights on the side from various angles.
I did NOT get a cleaning brush with it, so make sure you wipe it after each use or you will end up with a build up that can lower its life expectancy.
Anyway, great product, very poor packaging.

So after using this, for a couple of weeks, I will admit, I was initially skeptical. But so far, this hair remover has exceeded my expectations. Take the time to read over the instructions. Go online use the app. Setup was very simple and straightforward. I made sure I used the chart given my skin tone and I met all the criteria. If you don't follow the skin chart and your skin is either too dark or too light. This will absolutely not work for you. So it is so important that you make sure that you have the proper skin tone pigment. Etc. Well, it may take some people longer than others. I noticed a difference after about a week. I will say while it's minimal, there is some slight burning involved, but nothing that would prohibit this from doing its job or me not wanting to use it over and over again. This can be used by both men and women. It comes with various attachments to target specific areas of the body. Considering what people would pay at a salon, this has a good price point and it's definitely worth the investment. Again, just give it some time to work. Don't expect results overnight or within like 2 days. Be patient and you will see positive results. I would recommend this product.

I have been using this Braun IPL skin I-expert home hair removal for 3 weeks now and I am finally starting to see some results. I got this product to see if I can remove some unwanted hair on my lower back, especially since it is summer and swimming season.
This product comes with the Braun IPL app that guides you through the set up process and eventually used to set up your weekly treatments. It comes with a nice carrying case, but it is more of a storing case. Once you download the app, you are ready to get started. I really like how the app guides you through the whole process and it is very user friendly. Once paired up with your phone, you can use it to take care of your hair needs. I really liked the feature where it plans your sessions for you! It will even track how your sessions are progressing. It was nice of them to include a disposable razor, but I used my own to shave.
Once you have prepped the area to be treated, you are ready to start the treatment. Since I was treating my lower back, I had my wife use the device on me. The treatments are a little uncomfortable, but I would not call them painful. After 3 weeks of consistent use, I am starting to see some results! I will continue to use it to eventually get the whole area clear of the hair.
Overall, I would recommend this home hair removal because it is easy to set up, use and more importantly, because it works.

These really do work at reducing the amount of hair growth. I've yet to go experience laser hair removal at a salon, but in my opinion this is the next best thing as you can do it at the comfort of your own home without going in front of a stranger for hair removal. As well as the astronomical fees they charge per visit, with many visits in your future for the same process.
This kid includes the IPL hair removal tool along with multiple heads for different areas of the body, also included is the power cable and a razor along with one shaving head and a nice carrying case should you use it out of your home or just for storage.
So far I've only used this once and I found it to be nearly identical as other IPL hair removers I've used in the past I consider the Braun brand a trusted brand so I hope I get a little better results with this as I have with others. I've experienced no issues while using this other than it does cause a little pain as the IPL gets hot but it does work effectively.
I use this for hair removal on my chest and groin. I keep it on the strongest setting for my chest and the lowest for the groin area. While these are not what I call cheap they pale and comparison for the prices charged for the same treatments but I will say a little stronger at the salon. I definitely recommend giving one of these a try if you're on the wall about spending the higher prices at the salons.

TL;DR I would say this device is recommended for some, and could very well be an affordable alternative to going to a professional hair removal practice. But it’s sort of user un-friendly, has connections issues at times (requires an app), and I’m not sure I’m getting the results I expected.
Aesthetically, the IPL Skin i-Expert Hair Removal system is definitely something of high quality. It comes with a carrying case that would be almost an accessory for a 5-star hotel stay. Its soft touch felt surface feels rich, it has dividers for the device, the different heads, and you other needs (like a razor). Simply plug in the device and it’s ready to use. But there is an app for your phone. The device connects via Bluetooth. On initially pairing with my phone using the Android OS, it struggle to connect for several tries. Finally there was a connection and it was communicating. Eventually I had connection issues where the device was on and near, but the phone couldn’t see it. Resetting the device fixed it. Tedious. The app then takes you through the use, advising you to let the device scanner see your skin to determine if it’s right for your skin tone. Mine was, and it then set up the first use. It recommends using a part of your body that is a desired location for hair removal and doing an initial treatement. It then counts down 15 minutes for you to periodically look at the area for any adverse reactions. I chose an area on my neck that I have some hair that grows in and I shave weekly. I put the device to my skin and despite any beware message, activating the device was jarring. It was loud, hot, and I think I smelled hair burning. Subtle, but kinda scary initially. I waited the 15 minutes with no reaction. Subsequent treatments over the next several days I was awaiting success. I think if anything, the hair is less. I do still have some strands in the spot.
I think for someone really needing hair to slow and to have a clean shaven look, this might be worthwhile. But I wondered if the uncertainty and cost and tech issues was worth it. Not sure.

Impressive for a Home Unit

Prior to acquiring this unit, I was familiar with IPL devices within a professional salon setting. The units are larger, more expensive, and require extensive training to use. You can imagine my surprise when I saw that there is now an IPL device available for home use.
To begin, given the limitations of an IPL device of this nature, only lighter toned skins need apply. There are darker shades of skin that cannot make effective use of this device. Your hair color can also have an impact on the device's effectiveness.
The kit itself is pretty comprehensive, containing the handheld IPL device, the power supply for the device, interchangeable heads to broaden or narrow the focus area of the IPL, and a razor (best to shave before using the device).
One of the things that makes an IPL cumbersome is that it is not a one-and-done type of thing. Several treatments are often required. This is where the power of the smartphone app comes in. To begin, the app will have you test the device on your body to ensure you do not have an undesirable reaction to its use. If you have never been through an IPL or other related process before, just be prepared because it is not necessarily pleasant (it feels like a mini-electrocution in the area where the IPL is fired). Once confirmed that the device will not unreasonably harm your skin, it is time to delve into building your treatment plan on the app. Based upon the area of the body on which you will be using the device, along with the thickness of the hair, the color of the hair, and, I presume, the color/tone of your skin, the app will generate a treatment plan for you. In my case, I figured I would start with my back. (My wife constantly insists on trimming my back hair and I also imagined it would hurt less to try it on my back first.) After plugging in all the information, the app designed an 8-week treatment plan for me. Unfortunately, given this extended timeframe, I have not yet been able to determine just how well the device works in this regard. Thus, my review is predominantly based upon the initial user experience, rather than the end result. Given previous familiarity with IPL devices, however, I would suspect that this one would work just as well at removing that unwanted body hair. I suppose time will tell. Based upon everything else, however, I was pretty impressed and genuinely cannot believe a device like this is available for home use.

Had the opportunity to have this offering from Braun for approximately two weeks going on three weeks. Unpacking the product is wonderfully minimalistic as there is not a lot of plastic to recycle. The anesthetic nature of the unt itself is fantastic with a white. Gold pink motif. The Braun product has its own proprietary charger and is easily utilized with any standard higher end brick charger. It took approximately two hours to fully charge the unit which is not uncommon. Included in the product box was was a very important guide manual on how to utilize the product to its full potential including skin tone guidance as well as how to start the process of hair removal, which per the instructions, clearly state eight to twelve weeks. Also included were instructions on how to utilize the variuos head attachments and where each would be useful....from legs to chest to pubic region. Also included in the instructions were how to pulse use for precision versus glide use for larger areas such as the legs. All in all a greatvlooking product for home laservhair removal.
