Braverly Default 2 is a gem, a true old school type of JRPG. I feel like this game isn't being talked about enough throughout the JRPG community, but it deserves a lot of attention. It does almost everything right, great story, fun combat system, cool characters and villain, and the graphics are nice for the switch. The performance is not that smooth, but hopefully when the switch pro comes out it will fix all the little framerate drops and hitches. Other than that, the game is one of my favorites this year. 100+ hours on hard mode, currently doing all the side quest beating the super bosses. If you love the snes-ps1 era jprgs get this game, you wont regret it.

The first Bravely Default garnered a reputation as rather difficult, and the third game in the series definitely lives up to that rep. It is much harder than the first, and with the absence of an auto-mode in this entry you can't just run around an easy area and build up experience. Even battling nearly every enemy that comes across your way for the first 20 hours of game time still puts you at a serious disadvantage against bosses, with one of the tougher fights of the first 20 hours easily taking 45-60 minutes to complete while burning through many of your Mini-Ethers and Phoenix Downs on the Normal difficulty setting. Easily the hardest RPG from Square/SquareEnix that I've ever tried to tackle, out of a pool of about about twenty. Do not try it unless you're willing to put up with a lot of tedious grinding, a few battles that can go 10 minutes plus, and dungeon areas that might take an hour or more to clear. It also performs very badly. Even in docked mode, the game has noticeable frameskips while walking around the overworld and the audio can stall for a half second at times at the start of cutscenes. No idea why - there's not that much going on in the game that should cause such performance drops. I'm shocked that a Switch exclusive performs this way, an that SquareEnix hasn't fixed/improved it yet, three weeks after release. I personally enjoy the game (except for the performance issues) but can't recommend it to the general gaming public. Only hardcore RPG fans will find it bearable.

Good Jrpg, job system is so fun!! Revo's music is tier 1 in the whole soundtrack area. Story is not as good as BDFF1 but BDFF 1 is a miracle, so no need to compare with BDFF1. SE needs to release an update to solve the problem that the game is running smoothly enough on Switch.

Nothing new to see here. Very standard jrpg. Non-memorable story, boring, budget feeling cutscenes...good music tho repetitive in spots. Graphics are nice tho there are some questionable art direction choices with how bland any non monster characters are in the game (theres a looong dungeon full of generic knight enemies, bland or annoying faces on main characters etc). Game surprising runs kinda chuggy at times with a lot of stuttering. Some environments in the game are prettt plain. Side quests are a comolete joke and are 9 times out of 10 totally awful. Good combat system tho. Saves the game from feeling totally mediocre.
