Well I had to have it replaced under warranty, while still under factory. The Teflon cover on the cooking plates. But in this first year I think (with more to come) I know why. First the heaters are in the middle of the bottom plate. Remember that. SO cooking should be focused in the dead center and not on the sides. This Beast Heats up! While the little readout tells temp and cooking range, don't believe it. Figure The heat do some self experimentation of your own, for the grill look or whichever. There Temp readout is inaccurate. Not for the price they charge, too much money to cook Teflon off the plate. Again, this is on the first machine, this review is on the factory warranty replacement, first one never made it a year.

This is a good indoor grill. Although, I wish it came with an additional contact grill plate. I did noticed that when I use it closed the oils/fat from the meats that I am grilling doesn't make it to the drippings compartment.

This is the best panini grill. High quality. Worth the price. Removable plates are key.

The grill has been working good since purchased. I purchased 2 additional plates from Williams-Sonoma for the grill. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the performance of the Breville Smart Grill. I would of purchased the extra plates from Best Buy but Best Buy didn't carry them. I think anyone that knows how to cook would enjoy the grill. I like it better than the George Foreman.

Do you or I need a Blendtec or Vitamix blender than can shred a tree branch? No, but it is much more fun to use than a $10 hand blender which would do 90% of how I use my blender! Likewise, the Breville Smart Grill is over the top as well. It is well built and the outcome is excellent. I like the idea of Element IQ, which sense when you put your relatively cold steak (or whatever) and focuses heat on that area.
