Although the Breville Microwave seems to be well-made, I guess its parts are not that good. We purchased it in January 2023, and it functioned flawlessly for a few months before it started to give me error codes E05 and make a clicking noise. I merely believe that a microwave should last a little bit longer if you are spending $400 or more on it. Called customer service but not much support, poor response. I tried unplugging and plugging it back; I did a few basic steps, but no luck.

I feel for tge people buying this over engineering microwave. It died with a E-05 error after only owning for a year and a half. I didnt get the extended warranty cause ive never in mynlife had a microwave just die like this they normally last forever. The most Breville will do for me is a 20% coupon. It really sucks to spend this much on a premium microwave and have such littlw support from the brand. Buy at your own risk this microwave will not last

I’ve had this microwave for about 3 weeks; initially the dials were difficult to turn. Now they just feel cheap. Every 3rd time I use the microwave the turntable makes a horrible noise. I’ve tried everything. Think it may need to go back.

Great little microwave for the counter top. Big enough to fit a full size dinner plate. Love the quiet close feature! Heats food evenly and is very intuitive to use.

For years I've had a oven with a cooking probe that could tell me when something was done, but in a microwave you can't have a metal probe, this is where the Breville, Smooth Wave comes in. It has multiple humidity/moisture sensors that measure the steam/heat released by the cooking/headed product to determine level of doneness and/or temperature. After installation which was a breeze, even setting the clock has a short cut, I re-heated cup of coffee using the beverage short cut button inside the front door (see open picture). After pressing the beverages button I was prompted for the number of cups to be reheated, I closed the door and selected one (same type of procedure for all short cut selections, you tell it want you want to do and it asks you the quantity or weight of what you cooking/reheading. Any how, a cup that had little coffee in it took about 40s an a full cup took about 90s, but both were heated to about 140 degrees (tested with IR thermometer). And after each was done the microwave displayed END on the screen, but the light inside the microwave stayed on and the fan kept running (different from what I'm used to when running my previous microwave where it turned off and is dark inside until I open the door). I'm sure the microwave is venting any vapors out so it can accurately be used again, but still being able to see inside is another nice feature, thay you will grow to like (hay don't forget the coffee you put in her a minute ago! - who hasn't). Later I defrosted 2 big (frozed) chicken legs/thighs that weighed about 2.5 lbs. Defrosting meats properly without cooking them was one of the features that most interested me in this microwave oven, I previously had a very expensive convection/microwave w/inverter tech; that could not defrost a product with any accuracy. While the Breville was defrosting my chicken I could see it was changing power levels, starting higher and dropping down, after about 9m the Smooth Wave chimed that it was complete. I took out my pan and the ends of the legs were warm but the rest was cool, not icy probably about 75-80 degrees. Success! just what I was hoping for, it seems to know what it's doing. Now on the real microwave, test.... Popcorn, Orville Redenbacher's Buttered popcorn. Not the most difficult thing to cook but the one that tends to go just a little wrong quite often. I'd rather have a few (and I mean a few) unpopped kernels than have any burnt taste, and I'm sure we've all gone that extra 10s to get the last kernel to pop only to lift out the bag and see it's burnt on the bottom, an you know it also burnt inside :-( I select the popcorn from the food type menu (top of list) , place the bag on the center of the turntable and and tell it is a 6.8 oz bag (much larger than the 3.2 oz default); About 3.5minutes later it chirps that's it done (btw you can choose the tones used), I open the door, lots of steam escapes, I carefully remove the hot bag, shaking it, a last kernel pops, and I don't hear the rattle of uncooked kernels, and the bottom of the bag is just barely turning brown. I pour it out into a bowl, it smells great, and looks good, I add some sea salt and did in. When finished 5 kernels didn't pop (one of those tried). Well I could not have been more proud of the job my new machine just did. Yes, it's as "simple" job but it does not seem like all microwaves are up to the task of doing it well (or in this case perfectly). I did a few other chores, melted butter, steamed some broccoli, re-heated some mac & cheese, all worked as I would have expected, the Smooth Wave knows what it's doing when you tell it how much you have. I tried softening butter from the refridg and from frozen, and the frozen took a lot longer (all on a low power setting it choose) but came out the same softness os the one from the refridg, just a little soft to the touch, but not melted. All told, I'm sold on my new smarter machine, one you'll get used to it staying on after it's finished, and it will be a new friend of yours in the kitchen.

If you are used to microwaves with numbers then this will take some time to get used to. Overall the design is simple and clean looking. I found this microwave to be a bit complicated as there are 2 knobs that you turn for different things. Seems to take longer than just punching in the time for it to cook. It does have several shortcuts for different cooking programs which is helpful. The inside is very nice looking spacious. The outside looks nice but seems to be made of a thin material and I am worried how long it will be before it get s dented or dinged. It also seems to "run" for a bit after cooking as if it has a cool down period perhaps. It is a bit loud until it shuts down completely. It does have a soft close door which is nice, no more hearing the door get slammed.

We got the Breville as a replacement for our broken Toshiba 8 in 1 microwave, because we were sold on the multiple reviews it received. Here are the pros and cons: Cons: - not a powerful microwave--slow to cook. Have to almost double the time to cook anything - not sure what the Lock mechanism does. It was set as default, had to disable it - quick settings for melting butter/chocolate? I can think of a few recipes that call for this...does it need a quick setting though? Pros: - quiet - intuitive controls - clean, well designed

To disable the child lock, you'll first press the Door Lock button. While still holding that button down, use a second finger to press the Volume button. While still holding those buttons down, use a third finger to hold the Mute button. Once you're holding all three of those buttons, once the unit beeps three times, the lock will be disabled. Also, you'll want to make sure the clock on the unit has been set prior to doing this unlocking sequence. brevilleusa

Not a super huge microwave, but plenty big for a dinner plate and a 9x12 dish(just turn off the turntable). Great lighting so it is easy to see your food in the microwave. Controls are very straightforward. The preset functions inside the door are great. Butter soften and chocolate melt work fantastic! no more explosions in the microwave. Smart Reheat works wonderfully. Our food comes out just right. Not over heated. Food is cooked well and is also not overcooked. Display is very big and tone when cycle is complete is nice. Not annoying sound. You can adjust the volume if needed. Fan does run a bit after the microwave completes it cycle, but really not a big deal. It shuts off after 30 seconds or so. Backlight on display does go out after 1 minute I believe. I personally like that and do not need multiple appliances glowing with the time. Soft close door is so nice. We have had no issues to report, no cons either. Very easy to clean as well. Highly recommend.

The smooth wave BM0850 is very user friendly and easy to use. Has an easy to read LCD screen. And a lot of easy to use features like smart cook, smart reheat and smart defrost taking the guess work out of cooking. First I tried the smart defrost with 3 frozen chicken breast. You just press smart defrost then select the type of food and enter the weight. Mine was a pound and half. And they came out perfect. Not cooked and rubbery around the edges like I'm use to. Next was a 2 inch thick ribeye and with the same results. It didn't cook the steak at all just did what I asked it to by defrosting it. Next was to test out the reheat with some left over pizza. Just hit the pizza button and it will ask how many slices and adjust the time accordingly. The pizza came out nice and warm. The smooth wave will also tell you when and when not to cover your food. I did have an issue with the popcorn button. It only has one setting and I couldn't adjust it. By default it went to 3.2 oz, I'm guessing that's a full bag and I only use the single serve bags weighing in at 1.5 oz. So my first bad was not edible. So I had to go old school and just listen to the pops. So far it has been easy to clean and looks great on my counter top. I am very happy with this powerful smart microwave.

I bought this microwave when we had to get rid of our very old one suddenly. Did all the research and read many reviews before deciding on the Breville. It's a nice looking, quiet running microwave that gets the job done at a reasonable price. A couple of things to consider, though. First, I like the electronics, sound effects and shortcut buttons (but located on the inside of the microwave behind the handle of the door when it is shut. Strange, but nowhere else to put them), but there is no TIMER feature like on other models. No biggie; I have other timers I can use. You don't find out until you read the operating directions that this microwave requires at least 8 inches of clearance on all sides and cannot be near heat sources (like a range top) to operate safely. I had to move several things around on our counter tops to find a place to put it safely, and I don't have a lot of room. Also be aware that the two hard plastic hooks that make the door close and latch so easily seem larger than any other microwave I have used, and they have sharp edges. Be careful when taking things out and putting things in this microwave; I have already scraped my forearm and caught my thumb on them once and cut myself.

Got this for the office. Looks durable, and love the quiet features. The door has a soft close feature, and there’s no buttons to beep. If you don’t want to use the Smart features you can just turn the dial to set how long you want to heat up your food. I do not know what I was expecting from the Smart features, I think I figured it was gonna be more gimmick than actually useful. I can confidently say that I was pleasantly surprised. I tossed in some delicious chicken and shrimp Alfredo that I wanted to reheat, but just tapped the SmartReheat feature and let it do it’s thing. I would definitely recommend kinda spreading the food around on the tray. There is not timer when you are using the Smart feature, you kinda just let it do it’s thing. Once it stopped my food was perfect. Overall I am very happy with this unit. Super easy to use, quiet, and stylish/durable. I think this is perfect for what we were looking for in our office.

I purchased this microwave after purchasing the Breville Air Fryer Pro. This microwave is a great size for our counter. It has some very thoughtful features, including one touch program buttons inside the door. You can quickly heat items for 30 seconds just by pressing start. The only miss, in my opinion, is that they don't offer an option to keep the backlight on so you can easily see the clock. I've used microwave clocks in the kitchen for easy time checks since the Amana Radarange back in the 1970s (when I was but a child). It's certainly not a dealbreaker, but every time I look for the time and realize I can't see it, it's a bit disappointing. Of course you buy a microwave for the purpose of cooking, reheating, defrosting, etc. and this device does it all well.

Very clean and simple design, easy to use and the favorites button is my favorite! I often use my microwave to heat my water for tea and the favorite button has made it so much easier now. Still getting use to how quiet it is, all my microwaves in the past have been so loud you can hear them on the other side of the house, this one, it's just a fan. I replaced a 3 year old LG that I was never really happy with for this one and I'm so happy I did, I don't think I will ever own another LG or get anything other than a Breville again.

The oven appears less powerful than its stated rating. Our older oven was nominally less powerful, but cooked things faster. Some controls, such as autolock and a default 30 second cook time every time the door opens and closes, are a bit quirky. On the positive side, it is very quiet, it is easy to set power settings and adjust cook time during operation. The door opens and closes very smoothly and seems well-built.
