Alas the Princess of Pop has returned with a new album, Britney Jean, dubbed her most personal album to date. Unlike it's predecessor, Femme Fatale, this album isn't filled with catchy dance numbers like "till the world ends" and "hold it against me" but instead this time around Britney has slowed things down a bit with mid tempo ballads like, "perfume", "passenger" and "don't cry" each reminiscent of Brit hits from her hey day.

Unfortunately this is my least favorite Britney album. The best songs include "Work B---" (the first single), "Body Ache", "Tik Tik Boom". Her last album "Femme Fatale" was overall a much stronger album - this one seems pulled together quickly. A must for any true Britney fan adding to their collection, but a casual Britney fan would probably be better off buying "Femme Fatale" or "Blackout".

Britney Spears has been in the industry for many years, she's captivating, sexy and above all she exudes what a pop star is supposed to be. She announced Britney Jean was a departure from all the glitz and glam of pop stardom, and rather that it would be a personal album for her. While it may be more lyrically personal than previous releases, it leaves much to be desired. For instance, the 10 standard tracks consist of mostly great dance tracks, there's two actual ballads with "Don't Cry", and the lackluster "Perfume". The best song of the 10 is actually the opener, "Alien". Produced by William Orbit, the song actually contains the most lyrically deep moments on the album and has an almost flawless music track to accompany. The faster songs ("It Should Be Easy", "Body Ache", "Tik Tik Boom", "Till Its Gone", "Work B*tch") are great dance tracks, but not nearly as clever or infectious as previous Britney outings. One thing I praise however is that they used her natural voice, she's no longer "Robotney" from her previous album. You hear Britneys flawlessly flawed and husky vocals which is nice. The best song on the entire album however is "Passenger", a gorgeous mid-tempo track that showcases Britneys falsetto in the bridge that fans haven't heard since her "Circus" album. There is also a cute song ("Chillin With You") that features Britneys sister Jamie-Lynn that is pretty nice. One confusing part of this album is that they put all of the most personal songs as bonus tracks. Britney sings about her faith in "Brightest Morning Star" and has possibly one of the best ballads of her career with the dark and brooding "Hold on Tight". Even the dance track "Now That I Found You" shows a great side of Brits personality. I don't understand why the bonus tracks are the highlights of the entire album. But overall the album is a good step for Britney, I think however that she could get a LOT more personal, she's been through a lot in life (K-Fed, public meltdowns, custody battles) and I'd like to see/hear a TRUE personal album.

Not quite as solid as Femme Fatale and Circus, but the first half of this record is fantastic! It peters out on the second half, but there is still a lot of fun incredible songs here.

Different types of songs...some are better than others like with any cd. Interesting to see how her music style has developed over the years.

Britney Jean is a lovely CD. The booklet is also very awesome with pictures of fans, herself, and herself with her boys. Glad I bought it.

When Britney said this album was going to be different and be a personal album I was a bit scared, but when I heard it I was pleased with her work as always! She never fails :)

Of you're a Britney fan, you'll love this cd. I likeher music but wouldn't consider myself a huge fan. There are no catchy songs ... Fast or show .... That you want to blast and put on repeat.

I was expecting a lot more from Britney. I've been a fan of hers for years, and I was excited about Britney Jean. Unfortunately, I only liked a few songs off of it.

This girl is just trying way too hard. She doesn't sound the same, her lyrics are trite and there is no point to any of it other than to resuscitate her career....I feel no pulse...
