    Country and western loving Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Shepherd and his team return for a 7th season. Every episode revolves around a difficult to solve murder mystery. The settings include a health resort, the filming of an antiques show, a farmer’s market, a bank robbery, the Brokenwood Empire Cinema, and a 70s themed party. Along the way we meet subplots about art forgery, possibly the dumbest ever gang of bank robbers, chutney, and the witness protection program from season 1. Detective Constable Sam Breen also relocated to the Solomon Islands and is replaced by Detective Constable Daniel Chalmers, a Māori and Brokenwood native. Season 7 continues a very, very enjoyable police procedural.

    Brokenwood Mysteries is a good series with many interesting characters & episodes. Filmed in New Zealand with scenes showing the country, not just the local community.
