The print quality is good. Setup on the one line display on the printer is awkward, but the setup from the web page is ok. The setup from an old Mac was very easy. The setup from Linux was a little more involved.

We use these printers in the office and they work very well. The ink does run out quickly and you have to buy a drum fairly soon but one you replace the drum... the printer last a long time. We have about 30 of these in our office.

This printer had only 1 job and didn't make it to 1 year of usage. My old Dell printer (1720dn) which died after +8 years of great service, I decided to replace with this unit based on glowing reviews as it appeared to be a like-for-like direct replacement. I didn't need wireless or scanning/copying features - just a monochrome laser printer. However, about 11 months into ownership, this thing now prints black streaks, dots, smudges. I've tried cleaning the toner cartridge per the Brother's website instructions to no avail. I've also bought a new toner cartridge which has helped as long as I print out 15-20 pages in advance and then anything that I print out is clean...until the next time I need to perform any heavy duty printing. This is a failure as far as I'm concerned. When I contacted Brother's customer service, they basically stated that the toner cartridge is only warrantied for 10 months so "too bad, so sad"; the 1-year limited warranty is only to the printer hardware which doesn't extend to the toner cartridge which is a consumable item. Won't be buying another Brother product again. Unfortunately, Dell no longer in the printer manufacturing business...I think I'll go back to HP.

printer setup was easy after you got all the tape off the printer, no issues.

Got these because the 5470 were no longer available. They work and print fast.
