This is purely a splurge item and nothing more. I found out I really didnt need this, aside from my habit of spending and buying new stuff. It has a lot of cool features, built in grinder and you can use an app to brew and setup brew times.
But... at the end of the day, it doesnt make coffee better than a 20 dollar drip coffee maker. Buying an expensive machine wont make coffee better. I would argue that its the illusion of a 200 dollar machine and you convincing yourself it does. The reality is that the amount of grams you use for the grounds and ounces of water you use are more important.
Save yourself the money and dont buy this.

Bought this as a supplement to our Cuisinart grind and brew when I just wanted a single cup of coffee. Works great, love the granular settings like being able to change temps etc of the water. Overall, I enjoy this unit. Easy cleanup for the next cup

Very cheaply made. I expected the water reservoir to at least be made of glass, and filter holder barely closes. If it were to cost $60, rhen maybe a decent deal but not for the price it's sold as. I returned it

This coffee pot is less than a year old & has been lightly used, since I mostly do single cup pour overs. It made very good coffee at the beginning but there are worsening problems with the way it moves water into the grounds. It is leaking & the necessary water quantity doesn't get to the beans, making coffee that is twice as strong as ut should be. I plan to return it tomorrow!
We appreciate you sharing your feedback and regret to hear you ended up returning your new unit. Know this is not what we would normally expect from our appliances and hope we can earn your trust back in the future. We will let our product team know about your feedback as it helps us to identify what changes or updates need to be made.Dianna@Cafe

Purchased to replace a Krups Grind & Brew and so-far-so-good. There are some really great features on this machine: the app, the ability to change the water temperature, being able to use whole beans or pre ground coffee, being able to adjust from single use to a full carafe……..
Also, the quality made me want to research more products by this brand

This is a premium coffee maker. It's very heavy and clearly built with quality materials. We had to replace our old coffee maker and decided to step up to the next level with this Cafe coffee maker. We selected the stainless steel version which matches the rest of our kitchen appliances. The grind mechanism was much quieter than we expected. We love the large water reservoir which is easy to fill whenever you need to. Cleanup is easy as there aren't a lot of small parts to worry about.
We really like the customizable brewing features. These include the temperature control as well as the brew strength. For people who like a strong (or weak) cup of coffee - this is perfect for you. My wife also likes the single cup option for when she needs a cup of coffee in the middle of the day. We don't use the WiFi feature. I suppose every manufacturer feels the need to build WiFi-enabled products in this day and age, but I don't see the need for this feature in a coffee maker.
What we didn't expect was the height of the coffee maker. It does fit below our upper cabinets but only by a couple of inches. You will have to find an area of your kitchen where the coffee maker can be placed correctly.
We are very happy with this coffee maker. It has become an important and well-designed appliance in our kitchen.

This is easily by far the best coffee maker I have owned. It makes a great cup or cups every time. The added tech is so nice to have as well as the attention to design and details. The app is very well made and allows you to choose the temperature up to 205 degrees F and “Blooming” time which I found out is just the time the coffee bean needs to expel the stored CO2 which if left in the coffee can create a sour tasting cup of coffee. The most impressive aspect of this machine is that my significant other - who hates most tech - loves this machine and I have heard her make positive comments every time she brews a cup for herself. The gray color way I chose really allows you to see the coffee grinds when cleaning the basket. This coffee maker comes with two filters - one for the carafe and one geared more toward single cups. I don’t like how you have to manually switch from pot to single cup as I think that takes away from the whole all in one remote coffee feature they are going for. I really appreciate the separate water tank and its filtered water. It’s just nice to see your clean water waiting to be added to your morning brew!

The grinder broke on this pot within 28 days of owning it. BEST BUY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE POT. They stated too many days had went by. I had not even received the Best Buy bill with the charge for the coffee maker on it. The coffee maker itself makes decent coffee. The grinder broke immediately. Best Buy has the worst customer satisfaction and customer service I’ve ever experienced. They refuse to replace the coffee pot and don’t stand by the products they sell.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We understand the disappointment caused by the issue with the grinder on your coffee maker. We recommend you take advantage of the one year limited warranty by calling us at: 1-800-430-1757. -Don@Café

Fresh ground coffee at home!

Coffee making in our house has been almost exclusively handled by one of those pod coffee makers, except when we have guests and need a pot of coffee, when we have to get our traditional machine out of the closet. The new Café Grind and Brew coffee maker brings those two together, allowing you to make either a single cup or a pot of coffee with the same machine. Yes, there are other machines that do this, but the Grind and Brew adds the ability to freshly grind your coffee beans just seconds before brewing, giving you the freshest coffee possible.
I received the stainless-steel model. All of the available options include copper accents, and it’s a good-looking machine, very well built. A clear plastic water reservoir sits next to the grinding/brewing station. It’s fairly large, but looks good sitting on a countertop. Beans are placed in the top of the machine, and ground coffee ends up in the included filter(s) in the basket area just under the grinder. Included are filters for single-cup and coffee pot mode. Both of these are made of plastic with metal mesh, so they should last a long time, but are not dishwasher safe. Paper filters may also be used as an alternative that doesn’t require cleanup.
You’ll notice immediately that the design of this one is different. GE moved away from the traditional single-tower design, and I’m glad they did. Traditional coffee makers often have an internal reservoir for the water, with a flip-up lid where you pour the water in. With many designs, this is annoying and sometimes makes it hard to pour the water in without making a mess on your countertop. The Café Grind and Brew features a completely separate water reservoir with a built-in replaceable charcoal water filter. The reservoir can be lifted off and taken to the sink to fill, eliminating spills. It is also clearly marked for different capacities, so you’re sure you have enough water for the size you want. For me, I just make sure it’s full all the time, so I don’t have to worry about that.
Setup is fairly intuitive, although I recommend reading the included manual. Getting ready to brew is as simple as filling the hopper with your beans, putting the appropriate filter in the basket (single-cup or pot), setting the switch for cup or carafe, filling the water reservoir, and placing the cup or carafe under the basket. From there, you use the touch controls to select your settings, and touch the brew button to begin. A countdown timer shows how long before your brew is ready to drink. Interestingly, it also keeps track of how much time has elapsed after your brew is finished, and reminds you to empty the grounds from the basket. This felt like the machine was nagging me, but at least you can’t blame GE if you come back and find mold growing in your basket!
Let’s talk about the settings for a moment. The Café Grind and Brew puts you in complete control of the brewing process, allowing you to select the brew size, temperature, strength and bloom time. I haven’t seen the bloom setting on many other coffee makers, and I think it may be called other things, but the idea is that by exposing the fresh grounds to hot water, it allows the carbon dioxide to escape and the remaining water to fully absorb the flavor in the beans. This helps to counteract the slightly sour taste that can result from the carbon dioxide. It’s a nice touch.
As you might expect, being able to brew coffee immediately after grinding results in the freshest coffee. This machine features a removeable burr grinder, and you can turn off the grinder if you happen to have some coffee that’s already ground. When we first loaded up the bean hopper, we realized that our beans were pretty old, and therefore not very tasty. Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to get the beans out if you want to switch to another flavor. We vacuumed out as many as we could and then made some throwaway coffee to grind up the rest. It would have been nice to have a way to completely empty the hopper, but that’s probably not something you’d need very often. You can choose how coarse you want your grind, and it’s impressive that the machine grinds just enough for whatever size cup you’ve chosen, but it does not sense when the beans are gone, in which case it’ll grind up some air for you. The included carafe is insulated, and kept coffee as hot as when it was brewed for almost 2 hours.
The Café Grind and Brew works with GE’s Smart Home app, and it works well. The app quickly recognized the coffee maker and immediately paired. The app allows you to control the coffee maker remotely, choosing all the same settings you can choose on the machine itself. If you get in the habit of filling the machine with beans, water, and a ready cup or carafe, you can use the app to start the brew from your phone before you get out of bed. You can also program it to start at a particular time, but that kind of thing has been available for years, so the app is more fun. We had the machine ready to go when guests arrived. We met them outside and offered to brew a cup of coffee for them, which we then started from the app. By the time we went inside, the coffee was almost ready.
Overall, this is a great machine, and we’re looking forward to trying different kinds of beans to really see what works best. It produces coffee that tastes fresher than what we’ve been accustomed to with pods or grounds, and it gives you the ability to tweak the brew settings as much as you like. There are many competitors on the market, at a variety of price points, so if you’re in the market, compare the flexibility, design and build quality of the Café Grind and Brew with those others, and I think you’ll find this to be a worthy competitor.

GE's Cafè Grind & Brew is a high quality coffee maker and bean grinder. With multiple options for customizing your brews, the Cafè tailors your mornings to your specific coffee needs.
The Grind & Brew is striking, with a large water reservoir standing tall next to the brew assembly and carafe. A bright digital display shows everything you need to customize a cup or a full pot of coffee, with buttons for temperature, brew size, cup size, and strength. The carafe is large with a smooth, clean finish and holds the heat very well. Brewing times vary based on the serving size you choose, but it doesn't take long for even the largest pot. While the type of beans you use surely matter, and people's coffee preferences and tastes differ, coffee brewed from the Cafè tastes very smooth and not very bitter. The coffee maker comes with reusable filters or you can use your own disposable paper ones.
The grinder itself is loud, but the ability to grind precise amounts of beans to brew different serving sizes is a godsend. No more wasted beans from brewing too large a pot of coffee. No environmental waste from disposable single-serving pods. And I like that you don't necessarily need to use whole beans for every coffee creation - you can bring pre-ground beans and bypass the grinding if needed. The included manual gives detailed instruction on how to clean all the moving and removable parts. The Cafè Grind & Brew is both a convenient and an efficient option for your morning Joe.
Not to be overshadowed is the Cafè's Wi-Fi capabilities. Simple to setup and use, the Smart HQ app allows you to create a brew to your liking, even setting up bloom time for the beans, all from your mobile device. The app tells you when there is any issues on the machine, like the need to empty the grind basket or if the carafe is not sitting properly. You can also create and save favorite brew setups to use instantly as well as set up a schedule ahead of time.
Overall, the Grind & Brew is an ultra-convenient coffee maker that lets you make the precise amount of coffee any time you want. It looks great in any kitchen and with so many brewing options, it fits any lifestyle. Highly recommended.

Excellent coffee center with one small gripe that I'll get to.
Setup: The setup is very easy and straightforward. You can hook up the coffee maker to wifi, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Simply wash the water container, carafe, brew basket and you're good to go! If you want to connect to wifi, that is easy as well. I downloaded the app, and it immediately recognized there was a nearby coffee maker that needed to connect to wifi. Follow the steps, and you are online in no time (took me a few minutes to get on wifi).
Use: There are many settings for this coffee maker (even more on the app to fine tune bloom etc). Otherwise, it is very easy to brew a pot (or cup) of coffee. The water reservoir has enough water for about 1.5 pots, or a pot and a couple extra cups later. The bean hopper at the top holds a decent amount, but I wished it could hold a little more. You can adjust the grind size as well, between multiple different settings. I left it right in the middle as recommended, and that seems to work well for me. There are two different included filters, both of which are reusable permanent type filters. The larger basket for brewing a whole pot, and the smaller one for brewing a cup (think Keurig but without the pods.) You can also use paper filters for full pots if you don't want to use the permanent one. Ok, so you want a pot of coffee? Let's do that. Its simple. On the pad, select the brew size (cup, pot, how many etc), strength (light, medium, bold, gold), and press brew. The machine then grinds the required amount, steeps and brews the pot. It takes roughly 8 minutes and you're off to the races! You are also able to use pre-ground beans if you'd like, and can bypass the grinding function.
Taste: In my experience so far, it brews on the strong side. Even on the light setting, it seems to use quite a few beans, and still comes out quite strong. Now, I LOVE strong coffee, I've just noticed this is quite strong. The Gold setting is very strong, but has a good taste to it. This is the gripe I mentioned above....it uses ALOT of beans.
Overall: There are many fine tweaking settings, especially if you set up the app. You can also set a timer either on the machine or in the app to brew at a certain time, or you can remotely start a brew from the app (just be sure you have a filter in!). I found a useful wifi feature is it tells you on the app when the brew cycle is complete, so if you are far away from the machine you know when you have fresh coffee! The machine is large; however, it combines a grinder and a nice water tank. This has a smaller footprint overall than my old machine with separate grinder.

The Café Grind and Brew Smart Coffee Maker is distinctive in its unique modern design. It features copper accents on the handles and knobs that give it that luxurious and elegant look found on all high-end Café appliances, including their ranges, refrigerators, and microwave ovens. It is relatively large for a small appliance and something you might want to consider if you have limited counter space or lack of height underneath cabinets. The issue of low cabinets in our kitchen did limit where we could place the coffee maker.
I would recommend a thorough reading of the owner’s manual to understand all the features and maintenance tips, but once you use it a few times, the basics of brewing coffee from fresh beans are easy. At first, I was uncertain about measuring how many coffee beans to place in the top hopper, but it turns out it grinds just the right amount of beans according to your settings. You just need to make sure the hopper has more than enough beans and fill the water tank and you should be good. The settings are all accessible using a smooth and stylish touch control pad on the base of the coffee maker, including settings for water temperature, strength of the coffee, how many cups (ranging from single-serve up to 10 cups in the carafe). There are also timer settings so that you can wake up to a freshly brewed cup of coffee made from freshly ground beans. The result is a rich smooth cup of coffee but of course some of that will depend on your choice of coffee beans. It comes with washable filters, although I prefer to use paper filters which are easy to find just about anywhere.
One thing I really like about the coffee maker is the fact that the hot coffee is stored in a metal unbreakable carafe. There are no hot heating elements or fragile hot glass pots to contend with, which is especially nice if there are young kids in the kitchen. The carafe is insulated and keeps the coffee nice and hot for up to two hours, yet the outside remains cool to the touch. For those who like to control their coffee maker from a smartphone, there is the SmartHQ app that connects via WiFi and offers voice control. Given the intuitive touch controls, I prefer making coffee the old-fashioned way. Since nearly everything is easily removeable, cleanup is easy with a quick rinse and pat dry with a paper towel and you’re ready for your next fresh pot of coffee in no time.
What sets this coffee maker apart from the rest in my opinion is its clean and modern artistic design, together with simple intuitive controls to make a perfect cup of fresh brewed coffee. If you love coffee, I think you will love the Grind and Brew Smart Coffee Maker made by Café.
