Better Than The Last 2 Efforts

Seriously, this album is leaps and bounds better than "Dogs Eating Dogs" and "Neighborhoods." I've been a fan since "Cheshire Cat" and have always thought of Hoppus as the better vocalist, so I'm cool with the DeLonge subtraction. Plus, Tom was just turning Blink into another aspect of Angels And Airwaves. This album channels old school Blink 182, and Matt Skiba is a good addition to the band. I haven't listened to much Alkaline Trio (Skiba's other band), but I like what I've heard. The only reason this got 4 stars is because I feel like these songs were already in the bank and we haven't really seen the songwriting dynamic between Matt and Mark quite yet. I think the next album will showcase what they're capable of as the new Blink 182. Ultimately, I haven't enjoyed a Blink album like this since 2003's self-titled album. I also really enjoyed +44's (Mark and Barker's 2006 side project) LP, and this is even better than that. If you're a Tom DeLonge fan you may feel a little less enthusiastic, but give it a shot. It sounds like Blink 182 is actually enjoying themselves again!

I was initially bummed when I heard Tom Delonge wasn't part of the band anymore, as I had spent my youth growing up and listening to Tom and Mark together. Enter Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio. I've been a big Alkaline Trio fan over the years, and love the unmistakable sound of Skiba with his former band. Funny thing is, when combined with Mark Hoppus of Blink, it's often difficult to tell which one is singing, when previously Tom provided much greater contrast. That's really my only complaint. I love Mark's connection to their old sound (and potty humor), as well as the interjection of new blood that Matt brings. Overall, a really enjoyable album cover to cover.

When I first found out that tom had left the band and that Matt Skiba would be taking his place I was a bit worried, not because of his singing talents or anything to do with him at all, but the fact that this isn't the blink lineup I am used to and have grown to love. Having said that, this album seems like a fresh new start for the band and in a way feels like it goes back to their roots of being sarcastic and funny and just having fun and putting out songs that flow together nicely with well placed melodies. Lastly I would say this, if you are a fan of the last couple of albums that blink 182 has put out, try not to think of this album like those, keep an open mind and just listen to the album as it is, and you will enjoy it.

    The new 'blink-182'

I am a long time blink-182 fan and I enjoyed this album. If you try to compare it to the other albums by blink-182 you may be disappointed, but if you think of it by itself as a new band then you will enjoy it. The new band member Matt Skiba sounds more like Mark so you don't have the contrast in voices like previous albums with Mark and Tom. And of course Travis always sounds great on the drums. I can listen to this CD all the way through. Favorite songs: Kings of the Weekend, Bored to Death, She's Out of Her Mind, Los Angeles

Blink is Always a Good Thing

As usual, Blink 182 has made a great album. While I do miss Tom's voice on their songs, Matt is a good replacement--aligning with the bands style and sound. While there isn't a song that I don't like on this album, there are some that I prefer over other; which is normal, I'd say. However, overall it's really great music. I'd definitely buy it again and recommend it. I listen to it nearly everyday while commuting so I must like the thing.

I have been a Blink182 fan since 1996 when their album Dude Ranch came out. Through the years I have seen the music change slightly as they have progressed over the years. The songs on this album are not quite the same as there past work. But still a decent album to listen to. If your looking to hear music like there past albums then you will be disappointed. But if you keep an open mind, you will probably enjoy this album.

A great new album from Blink 182. Despite having lost Tom DeLonge to quitting or getting fired(there's 2 sides to the story), Blink returns with their best album since Take off Your Pants and Jacket. Matt Skiba is a fine newcomer to the band and adds excellent vocals. Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of course are back with a vengeance. "Bored to Death" and "Los Angeles" are 2 of the finest tracks.

Blink-182 showed us that they are still a great band with their new album California. I have listened to it so many times, and I gotta say it is fantastic. All the songs will get you going in some way, and the album has great instrumentals and vocals as well. I would definitely recommend this album to everyone.

Have love blink-182 for as long as I can remember! Normally I would be upset about a lineup change in a band I've loved for so long, but I also love Alkaline Trio so if you have to change things I could not have picked a better choice than Matt Skiba. Killer album!

Blink without Tom is certainly different, but Marks vocals are more prominent in the new style. Matt is a great compliment, and the songs are pretty catchy. You'll know the words after a few listens.

I wasn't sure how this album would stack up to previous blink albums, but I have enjoyed the whole thing. The style is similar to neighborhoods and the self titled album where they got more away from the poppy punk style. Even have a couple joke songs which I always enjoy.

The addition of Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba has added a lot to the Blink182 sound. More harmonies, more yeah yeah yeah's, etc...but the sound is still Blink182! Great hooks, fun to sing along with, and that Blink sense of humor. Overall a great record!

I haven't really been into Blink since Take Off Your Pants, and really their last thoroughly great album was Enema of the State. Figured I'd give this one a whirl since they added Skiba, and man was I very pleasantly surprised! Solid Gold this is!

This album is classic blink and new blink all in one. If your favorite sound is either, you'll like this album. Give it a chance before dismissing it because Tom's not on it. It'll grow on you.

California returns to the goofy humor with catchy songs that Blink is known for. Produced by John Feldman of Goldfinger, there are times when you can hear his influence in the music. I like this album a lot more than Neighborhood.

Before purchasing, I knew that Tom DeLonge was not going to be featured on this album. Although I like Tom with Blink, this album is a pretty good listen. It's kind of reminiscent of the old school Blink 182.

Its Blink, you know what you're getting. I really welcome Skiba on guitar and vocals. He actually sings like he doesn't have a mouth full of marbles. Great album, Travis is an absolute beast on this.

One thing I have always loved about blink 182 is that I can listen to their albums start to finish. Track 6 and 13 are my favorites. Album is a little short and I wish Travis had a drum solo in it at some point.

While it's not their greatest work (no Tom Delonge didn't exactly help either) Mark and Travis and Matt still keep the Blink ghost alive after all these years with a new offering of evolved garage sound.
