It has been years. and i was so thrilled to have finished the game one more time on xbox one. The reason i gave 3 stars because the control sensitivity is somewhat annoying, and not that great. The dev needs to fix that bug for sure. Overall, great old game.

Yest Another But Still Great WWII Game

This is a fun game to play. At the price it is now it is definitely a pick up if you are just buying the system. The Call of Duty series has always been known for it's fast pace action and huge fire fights. The games have always been made after a series of WWII battles and usually based on a unit that was involved in those battles. There isn't much getting to know the guys in your unit type gameplay that some other games go for and it can sometimes feel in the game that you are just another soldier within the unit trying to stay alive. Depending on what you like this can be very fun or you may feel like you don't know what you are doing. I personally always like the ability to achieve the objective in the way that I feel is the best. This game as well as the first are both made by Infinity Ward. While the third game is made by a different company. Many of the gamers who liked the first two found many differences in the third they didn't like. So if you are a fan of the infinity ward COD's then you may want this game over COD 3. Overall the gameplay is great and the controls for this series are always easy to pick up. The storyline is usually very interesting because it is in someway based off a real war and real battles. The old style guns and visuals are very nice and are always done well. If you are into World War games this is definitely the best one to get. The online multi-player was not the best in my opinion for this game as I always seemed to have lag issues. However, it was extremely popular for most others, and was as always again very well done. I just personally was not a fan. At this point though COD 4 is out and is the online choice for the COD series. And is also very well done. This is just a great game and for those looking for achievements you don't have to do any online ones. If you are good at FPS games this is a good one to get 1000/1000 since all you have to do is beat the game on Veteran (not that easy to do) to get all of them.

Its only $20 dollars which is real good, but it is a very very easy game, you don't get health like all of the Call of Duty's, but there is a lot of snow levels which i like. I'm more of a Medal of Honor person, but this game is easy and no story.

I bought this game at the time I purchased my Xbox, back in 2006. Nearly 6 years later I am still playing this game. This is the game that helped me fall in love with my Xbox. It has a sense of history that the other COD games don't have. The demolition scenario is worth playing repeatedly. It's not as attractive as subsequent games, and the AI is a hair slower which allows you to get off your shots a little faster and survive longer. All in all this is a superb game, and worth the price, especially now!

One of the best CoD and WWII shooters... ever.

In 2005, I was familiar with Call of Duty, namely through gaming mags and forums saying it was a blast to play online. Unfortunately for me, I lacked a PC for the original game and hadn't played the console version United Front since I was too busy replaying Medal of Honor: Frontlines (Rising Sun, less so...) to notice. November saw the unveiling of the Xbox 360 and with it, Call of Duty 2. I saw screen shots, TV ads, live gameplay footage and was amazed at how the game looked. Unfortunately I never got a Xbox 360 during launch (Thankfully, but eventually got one) though playing the demo of this game at GameStop made me wish I had. Sure, the older consoles got a CoD 2, though it was a different story based around the Big Red One (Great game unto itself, though not one I'm talking about here) and they also released another MoH game called European Assault but I wanted this game. Surely enough, 7 years later I did and boy was it worth the wait! The story takes place across the European/African theatre during WWII focusing on three armies: The Soviets, the British and the Americans. It varies from the defense of Moscow, to the Afrika Korps campaign to post- D-day assaults. No originality here, but boy is it fun. Graphically, when it was released, it was a terrific showcase of what the Xbox 360 could do, and it did not disappoint. 11 years later, it does look dated, but still holds up well considering how Black Ops III for the 7th gen systems turned out. The ambiance and sound are terrific and will pull you into the war. The controls are also fantastic with very similar control schemes to the current set ups now, with a few differences here and there. But lets not forget the ol' staple of CoD.... Multiplayer! Yes, the multiplayer made this game a huge seller on the 360 and PC, with people still playing to this very day, just not in the magnitude of something like Destiny or other CoD games, but log on to Xbox Live and have fun sniping at your buddies with an old bolt action rifle. Just like old times! Even the maps are stellar and memorable and I wish they would do a re-release in 1080p with every map and item on the newer gen consoles. The GOTY edition includes a bonus DVD with interviews, a Making-of the game and mission walkthroughs, but no bonus maps or weapons or skins unfortunately. Still, at $14.99 its an absolute must, for those who want to relive 2005, those new to FPS's or console gaming or just need a classic in their collection. Go and get it now!!

This game got a lot of hype and awards and deserved it completely. Just an amazing game totally blew the first away and set the standard that has lead us to COD 4. If you want to play xbox live then you really cant buy this but if you dont care and like a good single player game definetly get it it is so worth it and it really is very fun to play as different countries through a lot of tough missions.

If your a WWII FPS fan I agree that this should be in your library and in your console from time to time. If your not too into the realistic aspect of shooting this game is for you because your an instant "crack-shot" from the start. It's pretty amazing how easy it is to put down the bad guys, but the game is kept interesting by the number of bad guys your up against. If you want a great FPS WWII game pass this one up and go instead for "Medal of Honor Airborne". It makes far better use of Xbox360's power- graphics and game play of MHA truly blows this game out like a handful of grenades dropped at your feet. The shooting in MHA is far more realistic too, making you earn your kills and skills. I still recommend this game because it's fun and intense and the price is great. I don't regret buying it. Finally, if your considering Call of Duty 3, read the reviews first. Based on them I chose Call of Duty 2 over 3 even though the price was the same. Can't comment beyond that because I haven't played Call of Duty 3 accept for the demo which didn't give me the motivation to rush down to Best Buy.

Call of Duty 2 is an excellent game. It takes you through a few different storylines as different people fighting for the Allies. The World War II storyline is very well done, the environments, the graphics all top notch for being an original release on the Xbox 360. The Graphics are crisp and clean. The Campaign mode is long enough to be worth playing as well. You can change the difficulty from easy which you can run through every level without thinking, to veteran where you can get killed by 1 or 2 hits. The game does reward you for playing on veteran though with its achievements. Multiplayer on this game in my opinion is a little lacking (this is why the game lost a star to me). It seems like there was only a multiplayer added because FPS games are supposed to have them. Not a lot of thought or design put it. You can buy a map pack for it though which I have not played. And there are no achievements for multiplayer. Achievements all come from single player campaign mode. They are very well done; you certainly get rewarded well for playing each level on the highest difficulty with them. I think this is a must have game for WWII enthusiasts or even just FPS enthusiasts.

i bougt this game used for 15 dollars and i thought it was worth every penny. it is very fun and in the campain the germans can drop a variety of guns. although the dday mission isnt like the one that happened in ww2. it is a really fun mission though. in xbox live even though you can play only up to 9 players at a time it is really fun when you do deathmatch. this is a must own game and that is why it was game of the year

This game is amazing. The intense battles of WW2 is brought back to life. I liked how you would also switch between different countries throughout the campaign and that gave it some more feel. Overall, this game is a must-buy. But if you enjoy playing on Live, then you shouldn't get it. This game is pretty old and the games you would play would only have roughly 9 players, max.
