Customers express satisfaction with the game's immersive gameplay, realistic weapons, and engaging storyline. Many praise the campaign, though some wish it were longer. Positive feedback also highlights the game's value for its price. A common criticism centers on the brevity of the single-player experience.

Great shooter game. Everything is great except the online feature. The game will not work if you're connected to the internet. I cannot find a solution online. The only way it will work is when you're disconnected from the internet. I would recommend this to other if they don't want or do not play online. I gave it 3 stars for the game and not 5 stars due to online error.

Bought game and took home and did all the required updates. Then when I started the game it said something about is this call of duty 4 on a generic screen. When I said yes it said fatal error and restart. If I said no it said fatal error and restart. Looked up problem on YouTube and found out to correct you had to unplug router, log out of play station then restart router and sign back in. You would have to do that every time you played the game. Never did it so I never played it.
Probably a great game if you get it to work though.

Not a fan of this game at least for 10-12 year olds. Would like something a little less violent.

You Must Own This Game

If this game came without having any single player/offline mode at all it would still be worth every penny. The leveling system in the multiplayer mode is well designed and leads to extremely addictive gaming habits. The features and perks that you gain as you level up are fun and valuable but at the same time its very easy for a level 1 player to compete with a player who is a much higher level if they have a similar skill level. That is to say that the perks and benefits that come with leveling do not make the game lopsided and ruin the fun for those who are just starting out. The online community for this game is huge and you will have no troubles jumping right into a game.
The single player mode is solid and makes for good fun but once you get started on the multiplayer you may not return to the single player missions ever again. Battling the unimpessively smart AI enemies just loses its fun once you've felt the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat that can only come when matched against a 12 year old from half-way around the world.
Pick up this game now - its been out for a while so its only about 30 bucks which is an amazing value. Modern Warfare 2 won't be out for 5 months or so and this game is too good to spend 150 more days not playing it!

Best ps3 Game Along With Resistance

This is in my opinion the best ps3 game, as well as Resistance. It is the most realistic game so far. You almost feel like you're in the game. The graphics are amazing and the guns are very cool and realistic. The story is great and very fun to play, but like all games, the online play is my favorite. The ranks are fun to try to get and there is no lag on the ps3. I would get this game now even though the 5th one is coming out within the month. The new one is going to be about WWII and this is modern warefare, so they are probably going to be different. I think this will end up being better than cod5, so I'd go buy it now.

one of the best games i have played

lets start by saying even though this is the game of year edition, which supposedly is supposed to have the new maps included, it doesnt, nor did i get a code to download the maps at no charge...so i do not know why they released this as the game of the year edition.
other than that i am not a big FPS fanatic. to be honest, i thought games like halo, medal of honor, and doom were stupid. i beat halo 1 on legendary, even though the last level was frustrating trying to beat the time limit and i had to keep at it to finally get it, and medal of honor series was ok, none of them kept my attention. the last shooter games i liked were goldeneye and perfect dark for N64. since then EA has butchered the 007 games and i wont even play them anymore.
Call of duty is differnt. there is alot in the game that keeps me hooked. i enjoy the single story player mode alot more than other games like halo. the multiplayer mode is where the game really standsout from the crowd.
online multiplayer mode has an experiance system in place to unlock new weopons, skills/perks which makes the game very addicting. it is fun to get experiance to unlock new items. you get experiance for killing other players, and doing various things that the game has predeifined (kill so many people with a particular weopon ect.
you also can unlock extra devices for your weopons like bayonets, sights/scopes among a few dozen other devices that improve certain weapon characteristics. this keeps the game very entertaining to gain experiance by completing certain objectives, or to do things a certain way you may not do otherwise.
I also picked up call of duty 5 2 days after i purchased this game since everyone said this game is better. i thouroghly enjoy both games and both have the same experiance system, though 5 has different ways to earn exp. i couldnt choose between either of them to say one is better. call of duty 4 is a modern day game, while call of duty 5 (world at war) takes place along world war 2 era. i think most people just prefer the modern day weopons compared to the COD 5 ones. i enjoy both games and rank them the same so if you are getting this game or love this game, consider getting call of duty 5 as well.

Best CoD Game So Far
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is definitely one of the best modern shooters of this era.
What sets this game apart from the other games in the franchise and apart from the countless other FPS games out there?
PRESENTATION. The presentation of CoD4 deserves a gold star. The transition from mission to mission is almost seamless, creating an exciting, well-understood, and well-formatted storyline. The weapon models are replicated very well. They sound and shoot just as they would in reality.
In my opinion, the single-player campaign of CoD4 far outshines that of World at War and Modern Warfare 2 (I have not played the single-player campaign of Black Ops nor do I have the intention of buying that game because the presentation by Infinity Ward is much better than Treyarch's - no fanboy-ism intended). Whereas the missions in WaW were repetitive and those of MW2 were sometimes too arcade-like, the missions in CoD4 are more plausible and are more varied.
The only problem is the multiplayer mode. There is no match-making nor are there any host migrations. This means that you could be playing with people from Europe, Asia, Africa, etc. causing you to lag significantly. And if you are randomly chosen as the host while having a not-so-fast internet speed (especially when you have to connect to other parts of the world), the match will not even start. Instead, it will conclude the match as a draw right from the beginning before it goes back to intermission and selecting a new map. It will continue to process you as the host until you leave that specific lobby.
The reason why this error has not been fixed is because more attention is focused towards the multiplayer modes of WaW, MW2, and Black Ops.
WaW picked up on this flaw and had their matches restart after finding the best host. MW2 picked up on this flaw even further by including a host migration so that matches would not have to be restarted from the beginning.
Recommendation: Buy this game for the single-player campaign, but buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the online multiplayer mode.
