Modern Warfare 3's campaign is exactly what I expect when I sit down and boot up a Call of Duty title. The plot featured enough predictable story beats to benefit from my nostalgia for the franchise. However, there was a noticeable lack in big, memorable action sequences for itself. Multiplayer has been some of the most fun I've had in COD in a while. I was even pleasantly surprised to find Modern Warfare Zombies to be a good time.

I have always loved the Call of duty franchise. Not sure what they’re doing with the Fortnite like bundles but I just don’t buy them.

Best call of duty so far. It has so many features that you can’t even put them all down on here. Just a smooth very robust game with room to spare.

70 dollar Dlc for Modern Warfare 2. If you want the same multiplayer with a worse story mode, buy this.

Beware of purchasing from Activision

Know your risks – Activision is known to permanently ban large numbers of their everyday users accusing them of violating their user agreement, such accusations include using unauthorized software, modifying game data, etc. The banning of legitimate users appears to be due to false positives (e.g., pre-installed software on your game system appearing to interact with the game) in the Ricochet anti-cheat software they’ve included with their games. These bans are often sudden without warning, decisions are final, and Activision refuses to provide evidence that you violated the license agreement claiming that they cannot share more information as they need to “preserve the integrity of their security and detection methods”. They do not appear to spend the required effort to properly investigate and validate false positives, as would be the standard practice in the security industry. Some users believe that this is because Activision has done the math and based their processes on you being less valuable to them as a customer (i.e., the value of your future purchases) than the expense of properly investigating these false positives. Also, they do not provide refunds when they ban users, even has they refuse to provide any evidence of the user actually violating their agreements.
I, unfortunately, ended up experiencing this firsthand. After finally unlocking and levelling up all of my weapons and attachments in Call of Duty, I went to play the game and was met with a message “Account banned.” I had received no warnings or messages about this, so I filed an appeal through their site. The next day, I received an email explaining the ban was not a mistake and it was permanent and final “for using unauthorized software and manipulation of game data.” No explanation of what software was unauthorized or what they meant by manipulation of game data. To be clear, I did not do anything to attempt to cheat, run “unauthorized software”, “manipulate game data” (assuming using my controller to play the game does not count as manipulating data in the game), or any other activity that a reasonable person would consider unfair or a violation of the user agreement. If they wanted to validate if I was cheating, they could have just reviewed my game stats – the only thing markable about my stats are how unremarkable they are after playing the game for 4 years!
I’m not going to ask you to take me at my word on this, but I will encourage you to do the research I didn’t do before purchasing from Activision. In my opinion, Activision is taking advantage of everyday users, and my motivation for this review is to save others from becoming cautionary tales of interacting with them. Activision brags that they’ve banned over 500,000 accounts; considering they don’t provide evidence when they ban accounts, how many of those are legitimate users doing nothing wrong!?!
Suggestions to research before making your purchase:
-“ricochet anti-cheat false positives”
-“Call of Duty anti-cheat wrongfully bans innocent players”
-look for the forums (e.g., Reddit) where hundreds of users describe their experiences and what (little) they’ve been able to do about it.
-read their license and user agreements and ask what your recourse is if they ban you. Note the agreement does not allow you to take them to court or groups of users to file class-action lawsuits against them.
Feedback to anyone from Activision – instead of spending all of this money on anti-cheat detection that does not seem to be working while also banning legitimate users, consider investing more money and resources into properly testing your code. You could solve a lot of users’ frustrations with the software while simultaneously preventing the vulnerabilities in your code that hackers are exploiting!

Old maps remastered, nothing new. Short campaign. Zombies is fun but not the same as the round based Zombies. Feels like DMZ with Zombies. Minimal effort to put out anything new in this new COD. Feels like a DLC instead of a new game. Feels like a money grab for $70. All that said, I'm having a lot of fun.

The story/campaign leaves a lot to desire. Some of the missions are generic and feel almost pointless, and filler. Zombie mode more than redeems the rest of issues in MW3. Honestly one of my favorite parts about COD is Zombies.

Honestly, it’s not terrible, and it’s not the best. That’s okay, it’s what we expect at this point. The campaign is fun, and the open maps are cool, however the story could’ve been bulked a bit. Online is now back to your typical pay to play which is disappointing but fun to play with buddies. It’s CoD, it would be great if they would get back to what they were but I’m here still buying the game and playing it. Am I the problem? Enjoy!

I’ve had a lot of fun playing MW2, so I kind of jumped and pre ordered MW3. But I have to admit that the experience has been a little underwhelming. The graphics look last gen. I feel like it’s missing some texture packs. It runs buttery smooth when it works, but it has crashed on me a couple of times during online play. I do kind of like replaying some of my favorite maps from past call of Duty’s but I feel like they should’ve gotten a better remaster treatment. It looks like they just mostly copy and pasted the maps. I don’t have as many complaints as others on the online community about the game but I say wait a little while longer to purchase the game, until they hammer out the bugs and hopefully improve gameplay. I feel like they rushed the game, as many publishers tend to do lately and the game needs some polishing.

Would have gotten 5 stars if their match making was better. Feels like you either crush the other team or your the team getting crushed. Just never seemed to have those edge of your seat, close all the way to the end rounds. All in all it’s an amazing game, and very well built.
