    deodato's masterpiece of cruelty

this is one of those films that everything you have ever heard is probably true. yes, cannibal holocaust may be one of the most revolting films ever to be shown in any theatre & it's perhaps one of the powerful pieces of cinema as well. how can that be? strangely enough, cannibal holocaust has somehow managed to have maintained qutie the cult following through the years. if you are going to check it out, viewing cannibal holocaust in the privacy of your own home is the best way to go. it's grisly, it's sick, & it's perhaps the most mean-spirited film ever made but it really does make one re-examine our culture & human nature. man perhps is the most savage beast on the face of the planet & we witness this in gory detail in less than two hours. after your senses have been mutilated by this film, you may wish to have dinner with a close family member/ friend. there is animal cruelty presented here, gruesome scenes of cannibalism, & countless encorachments which will leave many a viewer completely disgusted. thankfully, there is an option to watch cannibal holocaust without the animal cruelty. there are some really great extras here too such as some interviews & previews of other grindhouse classics. a must ahve if you are into this kind of film or if you apprecaite grindhouse cinema at it's best.

This movie, the legendary "Cannibal Holocaust" is one of the greatest and most controversial films ever made. Grindhouse Releasing did an amazing job on this movie, they deffinately outdid themselves on this DVD. To start the movie comes uncut and how Ruggero Deodato wanted it to be seen. The only part that I find extremely disturbing is all the animal killings, but Grindhouse included an option on the DVD to turn off the animal killings if you are too sickened by it. The extras, without going into a lot of detail, are very in detail, they have interviews from long lost cast and crew and they go very in depth. They also have the standard amount of trailers and the amazing "Making of..." featurette

Thank Sly Stallone's kid (Sage) for remastering this masterpiece and bringing it out too you on this edition. Even after all these years the story stands up as well as the intense violence and what not. Beware this movie may be too intense for some. The animal violence in this movie is real so be warned. Enjoy though as this movie is a masterpiece in cruelty.

    Don't Believe The Hype

For me, this movie did not live up to it's reputation. If you are worried about seeing this, don't be. It is not at all scary and hardly disturbing. Sure, some animals get killed but most of them get killed for food. Nothing you wouldn’t see on National Geographic or a hunting show. The special effects back then are so poor, that the scenes that try to really be gross, really fail. Even the few s e x scenes aren't as graphic as Cinemax soft core. Also, it takes forever to get to any action and there are many slow spots in between. Not to mention, that by the end, you feel like the film crew gets what they deserve. The only one I felt sorry for was the girl. On the good side, the music is really good and the plot is interesting. Im sure this movie was the worst thing around in it's day. But, compared to movies like The Hills Have Eyes (remake) and the Hostel series, this movie just doesn't stack up. I just didn't see what all the fuss was about.
