This scanner, the Canon LIDE 210 Scanner, was purchased to replace an HP Scanjet IIp monochrome scanner that became damaged, and also provide superior color scanning capability. When scanning black and white documents, the image does not have the contrast that the monochrome scanner produces, but the gray scale image is better than that which would be produced with the monochrome scanner in gray scale mode. The Canon scanner needs to be connected only with it's USB cable, which provides both signal and power. The scanner driver works with Windows XP thru Windows 8, and Mac OS X.

I wanted to digitize all our photos so they were all in one piece (no more albums) and easy to grab to in case of emergency. It was quick, easy to learn, but I haven't done any editing (except orientation) so can't comment on fixing any poor or under or overlit photos.

This is a HUGE step up from the negative scanner I had that left lint all over the scans and they looked dreadful. The photos stay lint free and are quite good quality. Plus I don't have to fiddle with each negative now. Great quality, just like Canon cameras. I don't think you will be disappointed. I am scanning thousands of pictures for a life history project, and this has been a life-saver!

For a quick and easy scanner, this is a good inexpensive model.

Bought this so that I could scan drawings and email them from the road. It's portable and is powered via usb, which is very convenient. Wound up scanning some old photos as well, which came out great. Set up and operation couldn't be simpler. I've only had it for a month and have not moved it around all that much, so I cannot speak of it's durabilty. So far I'm very pleased.

Easy to set up, easy to use. After I got the settings right, it did it exactly what I wanted it to. The multi-page feature is great and it's the feature I use most. The functions buttons are programmable to the kinds of things you do most.

I love there is no power cord just plug it in by USB. I have a printer that scans also but it is nice to have this portable and I can have it right next to me. You push on button no huge set up process. I'm scanning all my old pictures over the years and family photos so I can travel with it anywhere plug into my laptop and scan. Also one button for PDF to scan documents.

I've been using this line of Canons for casual home use for several years. Can't beat the value for your money. I don't do any photo scans, so I can't vouch for the quality of that. As a document scanner, this works great.

I had an earlier model of this scanner which finally died. Because of earlier positive experience, purchased this model. There are some minor differences in the software interface for the two scanners, but I'm getting used to the new process. While I've only had the new scanner a couple weeks, everything is going well. I also like the size of the CanoScan for inserting in my laptop case for taking on genealogy research trips.

This is a great scanner, very fast. Much faster than any I have used.

RIGHT after the warranty expired, the bulb burned out. How convenient. I do not scan every single day but I do use it for business. It was loud and didn't have some features like pre scan and cropping that I enjoyed with my last scanner.

I have found this product very reliable and useful for my online job. It is quick on warmup and doesn't require a lot of attention. when i need it, it works.

Needed a scanner for business purposes (scan receipts for expenses) Wanted something that wouldn't take up a lot of desk space. This fit the bill. Got it on sale which is always a plus. Not sure it is worth it for full price. Software is a little weak. Had to contact canon to get some of the scan buttons to work as they aren't super intuitive. Even though you think it would be.. I mean you hit a button that says scan you'd think it would scan right?

I bought a Canoscan LiDE200 and it is a very poor value. The scanner keeps stalling, anywhere from 15% to 75% scan. Sometimes you get a "scanner is turned off" message when the thing doesn't have an on/off switch. I can scan one or two photos, then it stalls halfway through the sweep. This thing is a piece of garbage and I will NEVER buy a Canon again.
