Customers are impressed with the EF 50mm f/1.8 II Standard Lens's image quality, ease of use, and ability to produce excellent photos in low light. Many appreciate its wide aperture, which creates a pleasing background blur, making it ideal for portraits. The lens is also praised for its affordability and lightweight design. However, some users have noted that the autofocus could be improved.

This is a great lens for everyday use. I almost went with the 1.4 but I like the 1.8 a lot.

Since I am not a pro, I cant use fixed focal length easily. However, we have to learn using fixed focal length. This is a perfect lens because of focusing speed and it is very cheap. However, there is no image stabilization. If I dont use tripod, most of my images are not as clear as it has to be. If you are not a pro, it is a perfect lens for portraits, however, if you are pro, try other fixed focal lengths that is around 100mm

I am a beginner photographer, mostly for hobby. I purchased this lens to get experience with a standard lens. It works great! You have to learn to that there is no zoom, so you have to walk and focus. Overall this was a great price.

I bought this lense after speaking with a Best Buy service guy for about 30 minutes. I bought the lense to add to my limited collection for my camera. The guy says its good for moving objects and up close photos. I took some pictures with it outside and was somewhat pleased. I will take it to a more active place to see how it does. Overall, it seems like a good addition for birthday parties.

If your on a budget and need a lens like this, buy it. I have one on my Canon T3. My daughter used this lens for her Canon and loved it. I then bought her the lens as a gift for Xmas. Not as well built as the more expensive lens but it sure does the job.

Read lots of rave reviews for this lens and went ahead and got it. The lens feels like a toy because it's so light due to the body being made of plastic including the bayonet flange! But the most important thing is the images are sharp.

This is a great lens for $100. Yes it does seem cheap, but you're also paying for a lens at a cheap price. Great use for low lighting areas, but remember it is a fixed focal length. I've been having fun using it, and playing with that Bookeh effect.

Good for photo, not for video

I love this for taking up close photos to get really god detail. However, when trying to use this for video, which granted it works well when you want to get super close or far, it makes the most irritating noise while the lens tries to focus. It's like a constant buzzing sound that you hear in the videos. I love that the lens doesn't have as much a hard time focusing, I just HATE the noise and I don't know how to fix it (I've tried pretty much everything)
